A fellow bridesmaid found Sandy online to get our hair/makeup done for the wedding, it was pure luck that we got such a transformation for our results! I'm usually not a huge makeup person, let alone hair.. I just do the normal upkeep and then consider it done. Right off the bat, Sandy was super nice and accommodating. After a few quick questions, she was able to get an idea of what color tones, style, heaviness of makeup, etc. I had in mind. It was such a fun time chatting with Sandy during the 3 hours that we were there! Initially when I kept checking my face in the mirror while she was applying the makeup, I got a bit concerned because everything had been so boldly defined... but later as pieces fell together and she blended everything, it came out really nice and all the contours were highlighted in the right places. I became interested in going to her after I noticed how well she did my best friend's makeup, hairdos, hair color, and hair cuts. She does it all and she does everything well! After I got her info from my best friend, I started going to Sandy for anything beauty related and I've consistently been super happy with her work. At first, I started going to her for hair cuts. I have pretty fine hair, so it's hard for it to have a lot of layers and still look full. She was able to give my hair so much dimension and texture, while still looking very full and voluminous. I haven't had my hair this long and healthy since I was a little girl. When I became engaged, I went to Sandy for all my hair and makeup needs for all the wedding festivities. I went to her for my engagement photoshoot, a Korean hanbok photoshoot, my bridal shower, and of course my wedding. I'm pretty open and courageous with trying new things with makeup, but Sandy tried things on me that I've never tried before, and I loved everything she ever did on me. I also usually hate wearing fake eyelashes because I always feel like they look too fake on me, but she always chose lashes that I felt matched my eyes and face, and it never looked too fake on me. Her hair skills are also just always on point. I never like my hair up, but she manages to make everything work well with my face. For my hanbok photoshoot, I had to have my hair up, and she did a great job at making it feel full without me looking like I had a beehive attached to my head like I've seen some updos look like. I just show her pictures of what I like and she always makes it look like the picture and tells me realistically how my hair will look based on how much hair I have. I was happy when she told me that I didn't need extensions for my photoshoots or my wedding day! Sandy knows how to get bold with both hair and makeup, but still knows how to keep it from feeling too overbearing. I had hired her to come do hair and makeup for my wedding day for me and my bridal party at the hotel we were staying at. She works great with crazy schedules and is super flexible and quick. She laid out a timeline for us and gave herself a good amount of buffer time for any possible issues that might've come up. She started off by setting my hair early in the morning. One of my bridesmaids was also staying at a hotel nearby so she went next and everything worked out great with timing. My other bridesmaid was coming from further away and had issues with her ride, so she came late. Sandy worked it out so that she can start on my eye makeup, and squeeze in my other bridesmaid once she arrived to not waste any time. Everything worked out great, even with the switches in the schedule! And she did a great subtle makeup job on my mom too who NEVER wears makeup. Sandy also helped fluff my wedding dress to air it out before the ceremony. She was just super helpful with every aspect of preparing ourselves on the wedding day. And her work always LASTS without need for touchups. Wind and sweat didn't ruin my hair and makeup. My hair always felt secure, and she doesn't even put in a ton of hairspray like I've seen others do. My hair was still flowy and soft. She hasn't done my hair color before yet because I've just never dyed my hair before in my life, but I would trust her to do my hair color too because I've seen her work on others and my friend, and she knows how to make it feel subtle and natural. I used to only see barbers, but when I moved out here I needed someone who understood what kind of hair style I preferred. A friend suggested that I go see Sandy in Long Beach and boy can I tell you, she does a pretty amazing job at what she does! I came out hoping that my hair would never grow because she gave me the perfect cut. Sides were faded great and the top was styled and textured perfectly, giving it that really natural look that I love. She is very receptive of what you want in your hair and it is this attribute about her that makes her a great stylist, the fact that she is very personable and works with each of her client's hairs a little differently than the rest. I naturally have very thick hair and so a lot of stylists ended up making my hair look blocky, but Sandy understood my hair just by working with it and I can honestly say that I felt really great after she was done with my hair. She is extremely friendly and really easy to get along with. Sandy is also very experienced with cutting hair and never hesitates to answer any questions you may have about hair style, hair maintenance, or anything for that matter! . For instance, I have always had bad dandruff due to family genetics and I tried all that regular over-the-counter products to treat it but nothing worked. She was able to recommend a variety of products for treating dandruff and itchy, dry scalp. She also recommended a couple good fibers and hair pastes that I had no idea made a big difference in styling my hair. That kind of knowledge only comes from someone who has been doing this for a long time and I can fully trust her recommendations. Several months ago Sandy performed a miracle with my hair. It was white platinum blonde and she not only got it back to my natural warm dark brown, but the color has actually held all this time. If you know anything about how bleached hair behaves you'll understand how amazing that is. Ever since then I've been seeing her for trims and I adore her. She listens and discusses everything, even during the cut or process to make sure things are going the way you want. I even recently had a cut I later decided I wasn't happy with, which was my fault entirely, and she gave me another one at a huge discount. Nice quaint, beachy looking lil place, in L.B. at nice location on Broadway and the Promenade in the downtown area. She was there for several hours. Sandy's a real sweetheart, and she really takes her time studying your hair. She's very focused and seems to be detail oriented. I came into her studio asking for a color correction (uneven shades of red/dark brown), and a haircut. She gave me about 2 1/2 hours of her undivided attention, and I got a real fine trim (I've got medium longish hair with layers). The color though was a bit disappointing. She did a good job at stripping the dark brown out of my hair, but what I ended up with is a sortof brownish tomato-y reddish, almost coppery color which is quite uneven in the back and didn't saturate properly. Also, the color is no good for my complexion. Now just about a week later, I'm needing to re-color my hair because I dislike it so much...so one star off for that. Also, her pricing is very high... the most I've ever paid for cut/color (with tip, and credit card fees $174). Yikes! A real waste of time and money unfortunately. read more

Everyone always put lowlights in my hair to give me the contrast I wanted, but she weaves over my natural dark blonde/light brown hair and it has all the contrast and never turns brassy. She also brings it up to a bright super light blonde where others took it off too soon and my hair would have a yellow golden glow which I do not like.
