Sandy has styled my friends for quite some time, and I finally had the opportunity to have her work her magic on me. First, she color corrected my blonde hair. It turned out so beautiful, and I couldn't believe the before and afters! A week after, she did my bridal hair and makeup. I had 10 girls, including myself, and they executed flawlessly. Her and her team did an AMAZING job! All the girls looked absolutely stunning. I was so happy to work with Sandy. She's so personable, and her work speaks for itself. I cried, sweat, partied hard, and my makeup stayed put! I'm looking forward to having her do my hair again soon. : )
I found Sandy on yelp about 4 months ago while searching for someone to perform a color correction. Sandy was not only quick to respond, but was able to get me in same day. My hair was overly processed and I was certain that I would need a significant amount cut off. However, Sandy reassured me that we would only need to trim and perform a major color correction. I was so relieved and happy with the way my hair looked and felt when she was done. I see her every 6 to 7 weeks since and found that she is very reliable, honest and kind. During my last visit I had a few inches cut off and added some warm colors for the winter. Sandy once again did not disappoint, my hair turned out looking great and I have received more compliments than ever. Thank you Sandy!!
I was looking for a stylist in Long Beach and a coworker suggested Sandy! I was nervous since I know I have dye allergies. Sandy reassured me her products wouldn't affect me. She left my hair so soft and with beautifully blended highlights. It was also very nice to get suggestions in Long Beach, such as food places and nail salons. She even suggested products for at home care, but didn't pressure me to spend a lot of money of them. Recommended brands I could find online or tjmaxx!
I had my destination wedding last week and I picked Sandy based on her stellar reviews. I sent her a few pictures of what I wanted to do for hair and makeup and she nailed it perfectly. I received so many compliments that day! Sandy did an excellent job! Her salon has a great vibe and she is so fun to talk with! Thank you so much! I would definitely recommend her for any special occasion or otherwise.
A fellow bridesmaid found Sandy online to get our hair/makeup done for the wedding, it was pure luck that we got such a transformation for our results! I'm usually not a huge makeup person, let alone hair.. I just do the normal upkeep and then consider it done. Right off the bat, Sandy was super nice and accommodating. After a few quick questions, she was able to get an idea of what color tones, style, heaviness of makeup, etc. I had in mind. It was such a fun time chatting with Sandy during the 3 hours that we were there! Initially when I kept checking my face in the mirror while she was applying the makeup, I got a bit concerned because everything had been so boldly defined... but later as pieces fell together and she blended everything, it came out really nice and all the contours were highlighted in the right places. Hair! My fault for not giving Sandy the heads up on how I wanted the updo to be a side ponytail as opposed to a side low bun.. but Sandy was patient when corrected and she took out every bobby pin to help me set the side ponytail (to cover shoulder/armpit bulges, you know what I mean). She applied several different kinds of hairspray and when I asked her why so many kinds, she told me it was necessary to use a different kind for different application.. hence so many. I'm glad she sprayed extra on my bangs because it was able to stay up throughout the ceremony and I understand what she means by needing so much now.. because by the end of the night, it'd definitely fallen down. At least I got my photos in at the ceremony! Sandy would be my go to if I was staying in Southern California - I think she's worth the drive, especially since she makes your visit as if you were catching up with a girlfriend :)
It's high time I let yelpers in on the magic that is Hair by Sandy. I first met Sandy when I needed a new stylist after moving to Long Beach. She's located in the cutest little area in The Promenade. I cannot state enough how intuitive she is and how she's helped my hair with her expertise. I get lots of compliments and always point back to her. Not only is she phenomenal with locks; color, cut, bringing the shine back, she's got a knack for great conversation. One in a million. See Sandy now and your tresses will pay you mad thanks.
I used to only see barbers, but when I moved out here I needed someone who understood what kind of hair style I preferred. A friend suggested that I go see Sandy in Long Beach and boy can I tell you, she does a pretty amazing job at what she does! I came out hoping that my hair would never grow because she gave me the perfect cut. Sides were faded great and the top was styled and textured perfectly, giving it that really natural look that I love. She is very receptive of what you want in your hair and it is this attribute about her that makes her a great stylist, the fact that she is very personable and works with each of her client's hairs a little differently than the rest. I naturally have very thick hair and so a lot of stylists ended up making my hair look blocky, but Sandy understood my hair just by working with it and I can honestly say that I felt really great after she was done with my hair. She is extremely friendly and really easy to get along with. Sandy is also very experienced with cutting hair and never hesitates to answer any questions you may have about hair style, hair maintenance, or anything for that matter! . For instance, I have always had bad dandruff due to family genetics and I tried all that regular over-the-counter products to treat it but nothing worked. She was able to recommend a variety of products for treating dandruff and itchy, dry scalp. She also recommended a couple good fibers and hair pastes that I had no idea made a big difference in styling my hair. That kind of knowledge only comes from someone who has been doing this for a long time and I can fully trust her recommendations. I HIGHLY recommend Sandy to anyone who's looking for someone who's looking into a fresh change in their hairstyle, especially with someone like Sandy who told me that she has had a lot of clients who wanted to try something new and fresh with their hair and were extremely pleased with their results. Or if you just want someone to cool to hang out with, she's a pretty great person to be around too :)

This review is long overdue! I've been going to Sandy for over a year now. I became interested in going to her after I noticed how well she did my best friend's makeup, hairdos, hair color, and hair cuts. She does it all and she does everything well! After I got her info from my best friend, I started going to Sandy for anything beauty related and I've consistently been super happy with her work. At first, I started going to her for hair cuts. I have pretty fine hair, so it's hard for it to have a lot of layers and still look full. She was able to give my hair so much dimension and texture, while still looking very full and voluminous. She also recommended a shampoo that has made my hair stronger and healthier. Sandy is the reason my hair is so long, full, and healthy now! I haven't had my hair this long and healthy since I was a little girl. When I became engaged, I went to Sandy for all my hair and makeup needs for all the wedding festivities. I went to her for my engagement photoshoot, a Korean hanbok photoshoot, my bridal shower, and of course my wedding. I'm pretty open and courageous with trying new things with makeup, but Sandy tried things on me that I've never tried before, and I loved everything she ever did on me. She did my makeup different every time and I always loved it. I also usually hate wearing fake eyelashes because I always feel like they look too fake on me, but she always chose lashes that I felt matched my eyes and face, and it never looked too fake on me. Her hair skills are also just always on point. I never like my hair up, but she manages to make everything work well with my face. For my hanbok photoshoot, I had to have my hair up, and she did a great job at making it feel full without me looking like I had a beehive attached to my head like I've seen some updos look like. I just show her pictures of what I like and she always makes it look like the picture and tells me realistically how my hair will look based on how much hair I have. I was happy when she told me that I didn't need extensions for my photoshoots or my wedding day! Sandy knows how to get bold with both hair and makeup, but still knows how to keep it from feeling too overbearing. I had hired her to come do hair and makeup for my wedding day for me and my bridal party at the hotel we were staying at. She works great with crazy schedules and is super flexible and quick. She laid out a timeline for us and gave herself a good amount of buffer time for any possible issues that might've come up. She started off by setting my hair early in the morning. One of my bridesmaids was also staying at a hotel nearby so she went next and everything worked out great with timing. My other bridesmaid was coming from further away and had issues with her ride, so she came late. Sandy worked it out so that she can start on my eye makeup, and squeeze in my other bridesmaid once she arrived to not waste any time. Everything worked out great, even with the switches in the schedule! And she did a great subtle makeup job on my mom too who NEVER wears makeup. Sandy also helped fluff my wedding dress to air it out before the ceremony. She was just super helpful with every aspect of preparing ourselves on the wedding day. And her work always LASTS without need for touchups. Wind and sweat didn't ruin my hair and makeup. My hair always felt secure, and she doesn't even put in a ton of hairspray like I've seen others do. My hair was still flowy and soft. She hasn't done my hair color before yet because I've just never dyed my hair before in my life, but I would trust her to do my hair color too because I've seen her work on others and my friend, and she knows how to make it feel subtle and natural. Thank you Sandy for being consistently amazing! Bonus, she's super fun to talk to and always makes your appointments with her a fun and enjoyable experience. :)
Aside from my wife absolutely loving her hair anytime she visits Sandy (let's be honest, I love it too...wink wink), this review is on behalf of my 5 year old daughter, which not only absolutely loved having Sandy give her her very FIRST haircut (yes, at 5 years old....curly hair don't care), my wife and I loved experiencing Sandy's all-around amazing magic while working on this incredibly sassy little girl. That "service with a smile" goes way beyond reach, and Sandy's outstanding personality works extremely well, regardless of age. Honestly, if you're looking for someone to work on that hair of yours, but don't know who to trust, for you or your kids, look no further.
No words. Speechless. I took my daughter to Sandy all the way from Ontario to get her hair done. Nice quaint, beachy looking lil place, in L.B. at nice location on Broadway and the Promenade in the downtown area. She was there for several hours. There were plenty of eateries and cool scenes and people to check out while I waited. Now I know why she insisted on going to her for her hair.she started out with a washed out red all over her hair. She ended up with something like a multi colored ombre And an awesome cut and style. This girl has really impressed a mom who couldnt understand why we were traveling a bit farther for salon service. Sandy does a fabulous job with my hair! She creates an environment that'll make you feel absolutely catered to. The best part is she's HONEST! If you go in there thinking "ohhh I wanna try something crazy!" She'll be honest with you about the cut or color before doing the job.. she wants you to love your choice and be able to live up to it daily... Also if you want to talk about any old thing, she's great at conversation, but if you just want to go in there and get a cut, she knows just to do the job.. She's got amazing situational awareness. I love Sandy!! I've been waiting and looking for the perfect hair stylist for me.... and I think I found her!!!! Right in my neighborhood :)))))) I have the thickest hair and really REALLY extra dense hair and Sandy did an amazing job with them She will be my go to person from now on. P.S. I love how she can style your hair even if you don't have a hairstyle you want. I always like trying new hairstyles and love big change, so I love it when the hairstylist can work their magic!! read more

I've been coming to Sandy for about 4 years now. Over the years I've moved from the OC to the IE and finally to LA. Distance will not stop me because Sandy is truly amazing!! My hair has gone through so many phases from short, to long, to short asymmetrical, to just plain short. She always listens to my visions of my hair and talks me through my decisions. I used to go to Aveda salons but they could never get my hair to look as fabulous as Sandy did. She knows exactly how to work with thicker, curly Latino hair. She's also just as equally talented with makeup. I always leave her salon feeling glamorous. You won't regret making the change to Sandy!! read more

I've been coming to see Sandy for about 4 years and this review is long overdue! I initially brought my mom in for highlights (she was unhappy with the service received elsewhere) and Sandy did an amazing job and found the right tone to suit my mom. I then started to come on my own for haircuts and highlights and my hair has never looked this good! Mom and I have also booked Sandy for hair and makeup services for weddings and other events and we always get rave reviews from friends and family! We've never left an appointment unhappy or unsure about our cuts or color. Sandy is great at listening to what our "vision" is and providing input/feedback on what works or doesn't, to make sure she's managing expectations along the way. She's the ultimate professional and always makes it a priority to be focused on you during your appointment. She sets aside an appropriate amount of time for each appointment so that you never have to wait or feel rushed. Thank you for keeping mom and I looking good year round!! read more

She does a beautiful blonde!! I spent years trying to find a really good stylist who knows blondes well and she is the best! Everyone always put lowlights in my hair to give me the contrast I wanted, but she weaves over my natural dark blonde/light brown hair and it has all the contrast and never turns brassy. She also brings it up to a bright super light blonde where others took it off too soon and my hair would have a yellow golden glow which I do not like. She also gives me a fun cut that adds volume and bounce especially around my face that I really love. She is high end salon quality in downtown Long beach. Love her read more

Okay Sandy is a miracle worker. My hair was an absolute disaster. It's been 5 years since I've gotten my hair done or even trimmed so there was inches of dead hair and horrible split ends. I have really curly hair so I get very nervous going to new stylists because I know not everyone understands how to deal with hair like mine. I showed her a picture and she gave me her honest opinion on tweaking little details and my hair came out PERFECT. I am so in love. I have never in my life been so happy with a hair cut/color.
