Nice spot to grab lunch with my friend. The bartender was very sweet and attentive, the drinks were well made. We ordered a pretzel, which was a solid okay. The cheese sauce was a bit runny making it hard to eat politely. We had a steak and cheese and a turkey sandwich, both with house chips. The water there tasted awful, we did have to order bottled. They should probably consider a filtration system. Before I came I thought this was a high end place but upon arrival realized it's quite casual. We were in the downstairs bar, I understand there is an upstairs so maybe that is fancier? Either way it's super laid back. I will say the bathroom near the bar need an update. Very nice place. Restaurant prior to five is very private personal and fun if you want one on one time with your other half. Chicken Marsala was amazing nice and juicy lightly crusted. French. Onion. Soup. A couple years ago I had this at the Red Fox Bar and Grill in Jackson, NH, and thought it was so good none would ever top it. But Sturbridge Porterhouse did. The key was the savory broth and three types of onion. Cheese (Gruyère) and large croutons completed this delicious soup. Went back here this Saturday when in the area. The place is still a great stop. It is very clean, cozy and welcoming inside. All staff were welcoming, friendly, professional and ga e great service. The food was still great. The fried brussel sprouts are so good, perfectly cooked and have a nice flavor. The soft pretzel with beer cheese is awesome and the chicken. We celebrated our engagement here in 2022 and it was really good! Made reservations following our wedding ceremony in December 2025 and it wasn't great. Came for lunch and had such a wonderful time, we came back the same night, for dinner! Our bartender, Mike, was so friendly and personable. He recommended the steak sandwich, which was a giant hit!!! Had a salad (big) for my side. While simple, it was so fresh and tasty. Homemade dressing was over the top! Mike picked out a beer flight for me, which was a hit on every level. We sat at the bar and were blessed to have Tony as our bartender/server. He created a perfect dirty martini garnished with blue cheese-stuffed olives for me, and my husband had a beer. My husband had delicious chicken wings (huge portion), while l enjoyed my sweet onion soup. I had the salmon entree (cooked perfectly), and my husband ordered the 20 oz Rib Eye, which came with a tub of mashed potatoes and a tub of green beans. He LOVED it! Instead of ordering dessert, my spouse had another beer while l sipped on the scrumptious Pumpkin Martini. Tony is a wonderful bartender with a fun personality. I ordered a glass of wine that never came. Not sure why. I ordered a Caesar salad (w/salmon) with dressing on the side that was dropped off at my table by someone in a rush (not my server). The dressing never came. When I asked another server passing by about the dressing, my original server came to examine the table because she was told the dressing was dropped off, and she came to see if it was hiding somewhere. After that she walked away & my dressing was brought out close to five minutes later. I had added avocado slices to my salad but had to remove them bc they were "seasoned" (never saw that before). The salmon & salad were fine once I did get to eat - although I asked for no salt & they definitely put salt on the salmon. This place is not too loud & has a nice bar where others were relaxing. Random stop for a late lunch on our way home (to MA) from CT. The restaurant was not very busy on a Tuesday afternoon. Location was convenient to Mass Pike. The interior was a little sparse but pretty. Linen tablecloths which made me it feel fancier than it is (at lunch anyway) Service was very good. Waitress was managing bar and tables without a long wait. We ordered cocktails to start so I tried the Blood Transfusion. I know sounds gross but was a fabulous blood orange, vodka, and ginger beer concoction. Very good. I took a photo of my drink and not my food which is shameful because the fries were outstanding. I had a fork n knife cheeseburger and the fries, did I mention they were outstanding!? Btw there was a $2 up-charge for the fries, just do it. Met up here with my best friend the other day and we split a delightful meal and caught up. I had the empress gin drink which was beyond delicious. The Brussels sprouts and strawberry salad were to die for, and we both loved them. My salmon entree was a very decent size so I ate only half and the other half heated well the next day. The strawberry shortcake creme brûlée was sadly a culinary fail. While taste wise it was good, the top didn't have a good crack to it and it was a bit watery. I also asked for decaf coffee. My husband and I heard good things about this place but weren't sure. We decided to give it a try. Prices seemed a little high but if the food is good, people pay. Yum! Ordered French onion soup and shrimp cocktail. Soup was piping hot and really flavorful. The shrimp was jumbo and nice a cold. Dinner we shared the porterhouse with mashed potatoes and green beans with a side of mushrooms. The steak needed no sauce added at all. I went inside wanting a good steak. I was fortunate I was able to sit on the porch inside nice and warm. Although lunch did not offer steak, I was able to order one. I didn't choose the ribeye. I like a little fat, not a lot. The house salad I ordered was good, I would have preferred dressing on the side though. Server was nice. Steak was good. I was hoping for a steak. They do not serve steak for lunch. I asked for their dinner menu they said only at 4:00. So no steak for lunch. Just sirloin tips over a salad. Staff is extremely nice and friendly. French onion soup was okay. The Caesar salad came as 5 big leaves that you had to cut yourself. With anchovies that I bought on the side and had to incorporate. My husband finished almost all of his hamburger before I was done prepping the salad. Everything was fine. Just disappointed. read more

I loved this place, even though I had not had good references for it. The steaks are prepared perfectly as requested. My husband and I dream of their creamed spinach and scalloped potato sides. It's a small menu, but they do it well and the service is good. My only criticism is that everything is served with green beans which are very undercooked. I can overlook that.
