Came in at 7:45pm, after the Super Bowl had ended and crowds gone. Apparently they had had a pretty busy day, but now all was quiet and the staff was starting to clean up for the night. I asked if we could still order and eat in and they said 'Sure!' so we took a seat. I rarely eat after 7pm, but Hubs was hungry. He ordered a calzone and I chose a simple meatball sandwich. We then took a moment to admire the kitschy decor all around. If you are familiar with Chuy's restaurants, the murals depicting SoCal surf life also cover the walls and ceiling here. The artwork boarders on graffiti inspired paint can strokes, but there were no dangling scuba divers here, keeping it cleaner and a bit more cozy, for such a large dining area. Food came out pretty quickly and my meatball sub was far from the "simple" sandwich I pictured. Firstly, it's only described as "Meatball in sauce with provolone cheese", simple. I think they should hype this up a bit more. It was 3 golfball size meatballs in sauce, nestled into a carved out, fresh baked French roll, covered with 3 slices of provolone then baked until bubbling and cheese slightly brown. The "top", cut away crust of the French roll was also slightly baked and set along side the meatball "base." THE BEST MEATBALL SANDWICH I'VE EVER HAD! Not only were the meatballs tasting from scratch with a nice weight and flavor, but the sauce was light and not soaking the bread to the point of destruction and the cheese was perfectly baked to hot, gooey, goodness. Now, suddenly very hungry, I decided a fork was the best way to attack this beast. Hubs calzone could be best described as garlic butter goodness slathered over the folded pizza crust, which gently enveloped ham and cheese. He was very happy as well. By 8:15 our food was gone. Devoured. We noticed someone else came in about this time and they told him carry-out only. So, be aware, if they close at 9, they are CLOSED AT 9! Stuft is located in a very large parking lot with plenty of free parking. The interior is quite large and I think this would be a great place to host parties, or team pizza after sports. Cheers! This is definitely a fun place. I bet it's really fun in the evenings. I happen to stop by for lunch and I had to order the supreme and otherwise known as the stuffed special, delicious peppers, onions tomatoes, all fresh, throwing some pepperoni and sausage and the perfect size crust and I got the 13 inch which I can tell you is definitely more than enough for me, but I still managed to eat most of it lol because as we all know, there's always room for one more slice seating is comfortable parking is abundant and they are extremely friendly. There are a lot of things to try. I recommend coming here and checking out the appetizers. Everything for the pepperoni rolls to the combination platter. I will bet you anything you're gonna enjoy all of the items here because it's delicious. read more

First time here. And my goodness ... their pizza was delicious. Ordered the Woody's Favorite Pizza... which included lightly brushed with olive oil and garlic on the crust, topped with a blend of mozzarella, parmesan, and ricotta cheese. Then we add ham, mushrooms, red onion and fresh garlic. After baking, they add fresh basil. We also ordered a beer on tap. Refreshing. The restaurant is clean. Lots of parking. Cool spot. TVs inside. Ordered to go based on the reviews. To be honest, when we pulled up, no cars, went I side, no people. Super strange since it's a Saturday night. I ordered the thin crust & while it was okay, I wouldn't do it again. Ordered blu cheese for my salad, got Italian, once again was okay. Hubs got a small with a bunch of toppings, again, just okay. Stuft pizza is the best hang out spot in San Clemente!! The food is so good and the staff is so friendly. Quick service and a great time. They have claw machines that I actually saw people win so I'm assuming they aren't rigged. Lots of tables. Had a great time. Will be back. read more

Stuft Pizza is a nice hole in the wall place. Located near the 99 cent store (I think it's a spirit Halloween now?) and a groovy record store. Great little spot with even greater pizza! Tried the small size Hawaiian and even was able to take some leftovers home. Now for the main attraction, they have a mini stage inside for karaoke / or performances! Staff was incredibly friendly and overall it was a fun time! Recommend this place for your next get together or hang out with friends. And it's open until 2am!!!! Great place for a post game meal after softball! Had 10 hungry guys here and ordered the Stuft Special, Chefs Special and the Woody's...all toppings were great! Service was outstanding with staff coming by asking if we needed refills or more pitchers of beer. Guys were "Stutf"...and a couple of slices leftover to heat later. I am an absolute fan of Stuft. But I ordered delivery of pizza and wings at a nearby hotel and wasn't given plates, napkins or utensils. No Parmesan or chili flakes even though I requested it in my notes. Pretty ridiculous. This is a great little place and conveniently located between my work in Long Beach and my home in Oceanside. I can call in the order when I leave work and it's ready in about 20 minutes. It's not actually stuffed pizza or Chicago style pan pizza, but it's good pizza. This place seems to be a family run business and the staff is really friendly. Masks required to go inside. read more

I was very surprised by this place! I was staying at the hotel up the road and we decided to go for dinner. It does look a little bit sketchy but that doesn't usually turn me away. It's located in a parking lot that seems to be struggling a little bit. When our group walked in, there was no one there around 7ish. Our group of 3 got 2 salads (1 small and 1 large) and 1 pizza to share between me and my boyfriend. The salad wasn't anything amazing, a handful of spinach pieces were welted so I picked them out. The pizza was great and we ended up taking 2 pieces of leftovers. The crust was fluffy and had a different spin on a traditional Margherita pizza. While we were eating our meal, there was multiple people that order takeout or were picking up a called in order. So there was continued business, it just seems completely dead when we came in. As I read some other reviews- woman working there (think she was the only one working while we were there) wasn't overly friendly but wasn't rude to us. I did try to make a few jokes to her but she didn't bite. Overall, I would definitely go back again and try a different pizza they offer. read more

We had a group of 9 staying at the Holiday Inn next to this restaurant. It was 9pm on a Friday night and the restaurant closes at 10pm. We know San Clemente is a sleepy town, so we called to confirm that the restaurant was still open and serving food. I literally said "I have a group of 9 trying to eat dinner. Are you guys open?" The girl says yea we open until 10pm. 3 minutes later, we walked into the restaurant. 1/2 of the restaurant is roped off with a sign saying closed. The two girls working looked annoyed and informed us that they are only taking take-out orders. Wtf?! I hope the owner reads these reviews. Missed out on $250. We were hurry and thirsty. A typical looking pizza place, maroon vinyl booths, wooden dividers, you get the idea. I have only had take out here. Inexplicably, the food is better here than the one in Dana Point. Just left here and what a terrible experience. We have been coming to stuft pizza for 30 years and have never been shoo'd out of somewhere this way. We arrived at 8:30 along with 3 other tables of people who came in after us. Pizza arrived at 8:45. At 9:05 in front of all the tables eating with still a lot of food and beer left the young brunette rudely stated "we are officially closed you all need to go." If we had known we would be kicked out that way we would have dined somewhere else. I understand being a teenager but clearly she is not a good fit for that type of job. We left a lot of pizza and did not finish our beers. We were polite, tipped well, and cleaned up after ourselves as best we could while enduring her scoffs of "just get a box."
