This year's show - Cosmic Relief! - runs 2/5/2023 - 3/5/2023 locally at Farkas Hall before heading on the road for a two night run in NYC, followed by 3 nights in Bermuda. But you probably aren't about to book a flight just to see the show. Tickets are $35 ($37 online) weeknights and $45 ($47 online) on weekends (Friday - Sunday). Several Thursdays are already sold out. Discounted parking coupons are available at https://www.harvardsquareparking.com/coupons for parking at the Charles Square Garage. Harvard Square otherwise is generally metered parking, enforced till 8pm (except Sundays, when meters are free). It is always a good time for a laugh and a lift to the spirits. Especially when negative news abounds in the world, in your life, the lives of friends and loved ones. Take a breather - it'll be there waiting for you, but taking a moment to recoup will hopefully build up your strength to be there 100% again. *** HPT 174: Cosmic Relief! Houston, we have a problem: FBI agent LAUREN ORDER has tanked the Apollo Mission again! Since Lauren turned her communist mother in to the FBI as a child, the Bureau has been her home -- but after losing all of her animal test-astronauts to the cosmos and sending America's space race chances hurtling, she's been demoted to the place of a government agent's nightmares: Hollywood. On her way to bust failed director WORSE N. WELLES's production of a sci-fi movie with communist undertones, Lauren has a realization: if she can't make a real moon landing happen, why not fake one instead? With the help of resident diva SHIRLEY UVERDOVME, lovable but dim leading man THEODORE MEE, spacey hippie AUNTY ESTABLISHMENT, method actress ESTHER TERRESTRIAL, and professional extra JUSTIN D'BACKCROWNED, will this production studio successfully feign one giant leap for mankind? Will tap-dancing child actor MANNIE! VENTUALLYWILLFALL finally find someone to adopt him? Will Lauren's lost canine astronaut LUNA ROVER find her way back home? And, for Neptune's sake, will ousted NASA scientist NOAH CREDITED, Ph.D. finally find a use for his squeak ray? Take one small step into Farkas Hall this spring to find out as HPT proudly presents its 174th production: COSMIC RELIEF!

The high ceilings make it seem huge. The stage is large and spacious too. They had this red billowing curtain covering for the opening acts before the main band. Sound was great. Also the lighting effects for the different songs was good. We were quite close to the stage so had a great view. Great show! Restrooms are in the back and even though at the end of the show the women's had a long line but it moved fast. There are 17 stalls so that definitely helps move the line. There is a merch counter and a bar. The bar closed at the end of the show, so if you're looking for drinks or water make sure to get them during the show. Overall we had a great time!

I was able to see Shear Madness with Yelp and wow what a treat!…read more The show is a murder mystery, and just absolutely phenomenal. The second half involves audience participation, but it's not mandatory if you're more on the shy side. The actors were incredible and very funny. They brought some modern twists and definitely some Boston jokes which I enjoyed. You will laugh a lot and have a great time trying to figure everything out. Overall, I think this would be a great show to see for locals and tourists alike. Perfect for a rainy day as well if you're in the area!

With around 80-100 seats, the show was pretty intimate and fun. I love how their performers were able to adjust to and roll with each audience's feedback...and many times, returned with even funnier responses. It does take a talented crew to be able to work together and do a bit of improv to keep the audiences highly engaged and I definitely thought the team of performers I saw did such a fantastic job that night. I honestly went in without much expectations but definitely came out really happy that I got to see thus show. Many audiences felt the same as well. P.S. restrooms are underground and behind the stage...so you may not be able to get in there until they start letting the audiences in. Also, they have a bar downstairs so you can enjoy your show with your fav drinks, too.

Jason Isbell and The 400 Unit could perform in a bathroom and it would be stellar, but both of their shows this past Friday and Saturday night were phenomenal! The Wang turned out to be a great venue. It is a beautiful historic theatre, but entry (including security) was easy and stress free. The band sounded amazing! We expected a "seated" audience, but as soon as the band took the stage, the entire audience remained on their feet swaying and enjoying the music and vibes. While I enjoyed this environment, I can see that elderly attendees, shorter patrons, or those with difficulty standing for 2+ hours might have been disappointed. No awful parking issues like Gillette or the Xfinity Center, better views than TD Garden...I'd love to see more rock concerts at the Wang!

I think this would be a lovely architecture tour if we didn't have the event lights and noise of a DJ at the site. We visited an event here (not the theater part) where they had a Music America exhibit downstairs, and servers and music up in the main lobby. Very loud space and could use some more seating for the event, but was a fun gathering for ISDA hosted by LSEG. Cool venue, contains both the Wang and Shubert Theatres. An extraordinary gift in 1983 from Dr. An Wang, founder of Wang Laboratories, ushered in the era of The Wang Center for the Performing Arts and lead to a total of around $10mm in donations to help restore the theater in the 1980s.

As their collection grew, most of their retired vehicles were stored in the Carriage House on their estate in Brookline. In 1927, the Anderson family opened their collection for tours and, upon Isabel's death in 1948, she bequeathed her estate and automobiles to the town of Brookline with the stipulation that both be entrusted to a non-profit organization for the public. Today, the Larz Anderson Auto Museum features rotating exhibits on the ground floor and select vehicles from the museum's permanent collection on the lower level. It's a small collection, with only about 10-12 vehicles on loan from others on display in the rotating exhibits and 16 vehicles (4 of which still run and drive) from permanent collection on display at any given time. At the time of this review in September 2024, the current rotating exhibit features several post-World War II vehicles from the US and Europe, along with a small display of print and television advertising campaigns. Given the size of the museum, you can easily view the collection without rushing in about an hour. The museum hosts events on its vast lawn during the spring, summer and fall, including Cars & Coffee Boston gatherings that are open to all makes and models and other themed events that cater to specific genres of automobiles and motorcycles, including European, American, custom, Japanese tuner, alternative fuels, trucks, hot rods, and motorcycles. The museum also hosts occasional track days at Palmer Motorsports Park. Check the museum's website (https://www.larzanderson.org/) for more information. PRO TIP: The museum and its lawn are also available for rent to host private events, such as weddings, bar/bat mitzvahs, birthday parties, and corporate team building events with indoor capacity of 150 for a standing cocktail style reception or up to 100 for a formal seated dinner.
