This was my second year in a row visiting, and while about 85% of the haunted houses seemed unchanged from last year, the overall production value and spooky atmosphere still make it well worth the drive to Nashua, NH. The set designs, lighting, animatronics, and sound effects across all five haunts are fantastic. The scare actors are super dedicated, stay in character, and do a great job pacing groups out so you actually get the full impact of the scares rather than just trailing behind someone else's jump scare. A few helpful tips & details from my visits: Pro Tip: I'd definitely recommend visiting during opening weekend if you can, as they offer discounted ticket prices of $25 vs. $41 full price. Parking Logistics: If you end up in one of the overflow lots, they run a well-organized school bus shuttle service that gets you back and forth to the main entrance. Photo Op: There are plenty of animatronics in the entranceway and they have an official ticketed one you can check out and decide if you want to purchase. My friend got the 2 pack which included a digital print as well as a physical print I think it was $30. The Dark Ride & Concessions: The Dark Ride ($10 cash only) was broken when we went, so they shut it down while my friends were in line. So this bumps it down by 1/2 a star to 4.5 for the ride breakdown. Once you complete all the haunted houses, it leads right into the concession and souvenir area. Don't skip the non-alcoholic specialty drinks--they change the light (green, blue, or red) to match your flavor and top it off with a fun smoke bubble! Fully Indoors: A huge perk for chilly or rainy October nights since the queue lines and haunts are all inside. Overall, it's a solid, fun Halloween activity especially if you've never been. Prior to this I've been to Connor Farm and the Screemfest in Canobie Lake and the Fright Fest at Six Flags which are more family friendly. You also will save a few dollars too booking online in advance compared to buying at the door in person.

When in Salisbury, there are two choices for Cinema-going: either Vision Max (formerly Cinema 95…read moreand Hoyts) or Cinemagic. They split releases down the middle, so there's not a ton of competition between the two. I'll often choose to trek to Methuen or Danvers to do double and triple feature days, even Boston if Im up for a trip. But, when I'm feeling local I'm always more enthused to go to Vision Max. The theatre is fairly small, operating on only 6 screens (I think). I've never had too many issues with the projection, although some of the screens have visible marks that can be distracting especially during very bright scenes. The theaters are not stadium seating, but instead are heavily slanted with an aisle down the middle. It's never been an issue. The seats are fairly new, and they are nice leather. They're sooo comfortable, although you almost have to put your feet on the seats in order to achieve maximum cinematic nirvana. The concessions are not something I usually go in for, as they are often astronomically overpriced at most places, but not at Vision Max. The snacks and drinks are very reasonable, comparably. This theatre shows their half of the biggest, widest released films, but they sneak in an interesting indie or documentary from time to time, which is great. The manager/assistant manager always seems very attentive to customer needs, which is great. One pet peeve: When you buy tickets at the concession counter, (rather than the designated ticket counter) they give them to you, not on card stock, but on very thin paper that is not perforated and will degrade more quickly. For someone who collects their stubs, this is always disappointing.
