Parents are allowed to watch class in a comfortable setting. The studio is fun, bright and adorably decorated (I'm happy as soon as I walk in). Dancers wear what they are comfortable in, no set uniforms. (You can buy adorable and reasonably priced dance leotards, shoes, headbands, leg warmers etc. right there) The teacher has a wonderful disposition she expects your child to listen, respect and perform, it isn't a problem because she is so great with them they WANT to follow in class. Class starts with a short fairy tail story. Then the teacher incorporates the story into that day's class. (Fairies? Sprinkle "fairy dust" on your legs to straighten them). They also do jazz and tap as well. Children get to wear a costume at the end of class (part of the fairy tail story) and have free dance with wands or ribbon streamers. The dancers earn hand stamps for a job well done (as well to distinguish between right and left ). Also, you aren't gouged for spring recital. You aren't expected to sell multi overpriced tickets. They also have great priced school vacation or summer themed camps. Really if you are looking for a great experience in a great location don't look any further.

Attended one class and it costed me 250…read more I was hoping this studio would be a good fit for my daughter but after one dance class my daughter refused to go back. I signed her up for princess dance camp and when we got there I realized it wasn't handicap accessible so I couldn't bring my mom in a wheelchair up. I also had my 5 month old with me. It was extremely hot in the waiting area and I didn't feel comfortable leaving my child with the student teachers alone because then there would have been no adult. I left and brought my mom and baby to my mom in-law because it was too hot for him and my mom was not able to come up. My daughter was the only one in a princess dress and the youngest student and with that she felt very singled out. I decided with these reasons if my daughter is refusing to go back I won't force her. We also live 40 minutes away. I attached all the payments they made me make. Around $250.00 She's only attended one class. I was made to pay $45 for her to have a spot in the fall dance class, 15$ as a holding fee And $183 for her princess camp The owner refuses to refund me anything instead refund my account of $163 that can only be used at the dance studio that I pulled her out of. I find this to be extremely greedy and really really really mean as her last words to me where "I hope your daughter finds a home dance studio" If you cared about my daughter dancing or cared about dance at all... you would do what is right.

It was advertised that the teacher is a BCBA and with a quick license check, i discovered that the teacher is NOT A BCBA. She is at best, an occupational therapist. So many times i came to get my son from class, and a different person was teaching the class. It was advertised that your child will benefit in such areas as posture, strength, coordination, concentration, confidence, spatial awareness and socialization. I can assure you none of that happened. With special needs children, they need consistency and this school isn't the place. The "teacher" made a false report to DCF and the school has refused to refund me for the rest of his classes citing their "policy". I sent emails to both the teacher and the head of the dance school and every email was ignored. Yesterday when i had to go in to speak to the owner, she literally told me she got my emails and chose to not respond. She also forgets who she meets. A few weeks ago, she came up to me introducing herself to which i had to tell her "you met me the week I enrolled my son" she turned beet red in embarassment. The week that they made a false claim to DCF, I was in disney world with my son, and i spent thousands on a vacation to have it practically ruined by these false calls by the dance studio. I had to get on the phone to DCF instead of enjoying a family vacation. I'm a single mom and I save all year long to be able to take my son on this vacation and it wasn't right or fair to have our vacation ruined by the false reports that CENTER FOR PERFORMING ARTS made. I was threatened by DCF over this. All I wanted was my money back and michelle refused to give it to me. Apparently her school must be hurting for money if she cant give me back my $30. Had they not called and placed a false report, my son would still be attending their school, even with the other issue. She also has her husband and family write reviews of her dance school which is actually forbidden. Any review you see with the ast name mitchinson is family, and of course your family would write you a good review no matter how disorganized your school is. This school is very disorganized. constant children running about, food trash all over the place and other clothing items just scattered about. For the winter performance we were told that the class would be performing in the theater, the lady at the desk told me the class would be coming down to the theater. 715 came and went, and then it was 725 and still no performance. My parents, my sons dad and myself were sitting and waiting because we were told that was where they would be performing. I went upstairs only to find out the class already performed. My parents cannot do stairs well at all and there is no elevator to go upstairs. they don't have any disablity access. If you can't climb stairs then it sucks to be you. Do not send your children here!!! There are much better dance studios out here!!

We had already decided upon our first dance song and we both agreed we didn't want to look uncomfortable on the dance floor or stuck with your boring basic prom side shuffle for our first dance at our wedding. We wanted memories of our wedding night that would last a lifetime and Danielle helped us get even more than that. When I first brought up the idea of dance lessons to my then fiancé (now husband), he agreed to do the lessons but wasn't thrilled about the idea. We both had athletic backgrounds from high school and college, but neither of us had danced before. Danielle made us both feel at ease and comfortable with dancing. My husband never thought this was something he would ever do, let alone enjoy it! After meeting Danielle and completing our introduction lesson, we decided to book a package so we would not only learn our first dance but have extra lessons to have as special date nights after our wedding - and to our shock, the lessons are good for 5-years from the date of purchase for many date nights to come! Danielle had us laughing and enjoying ourselves while learning. Our dance lessons quickly became a nice getaway amidst the rest of the wedding planning chaos and was something we looked forward to each week. She was also super flexible with class times as we had demanding day jobs - fitting us in for the evening or on our 'off-work Friday', but we also were commuting 45 minutes for the lessons so if we got stuck in traffic, she was always understanding and made our schedule work. Although it was a choreographed dance, my goal was to know how to follow my partner's lead well enough that I could be in the moment, enjoy our first dance, and be able to sing the lyrics without thinking about my next step, and Danielle taught us just that. We were super impressed with what we were able to learn in the number of lessons we did - a full 4.5-minute dance that included a lift and a dip! Danielle also worked with my husband and my mother-in-law for their mother-son dance and they had easy-to-remember steps in just one lesson! Danielle gave us more than a nice-looking first dance at our wedding, she gave us cherished memories together that we'll never forget and now we have dance skills we can use at any occasion in the future. We are looking forward to using these skills at our friends' weddings, vacations, and learning new types of dances on our date nights as we continue to use the lessons from our package. We cannot thank Danielle enough for the experience she provided us throughout the lessons, practicing at home, on our wedding day, and the fact that she made us both find an exciting new date night we can both enjoy! Highly recommend!

I wish I could give this place more stars…read more My daughter started dance at the Y when she was in preschool. By 2nd grade she needed a different studio for several reasons. Checked out a few in town but I liked the non competitive atmosphere here. Jane (the owner) is the most personable manager you'd ever want to meet. The motto is that everyone is a star (and at the end of the year everyone gets a medal). Some kids do get trophies but not for competition reasons. They have programs for all level kids and everyone regardless of age, ambition, ability or socioeconomic level is treated equally. My daughter has been in intensive ballet for four years now and is in her second year of toe. She's given the drive and push she needs to succeed without creating an environment similar to certain reality show nightmares. She's worked her way onto performance team. It's something she's wanted since 2nd grade and she's happiest when she's there. She's just finished her second year on team. She is happiest when she's with her PT gang. If you want your child to enjoy himself/herself I suggest you go there. Everyone is equal and Jane and her daughter Meghan are available almost 24/7 via phone, email, txt, FB chat -- the only thing I haven't personally tried is FaceTime but I suspect if I needed to they'd make it happen (everyone deserves some down time). These ladies truly care about the whole student. What matters is that the focus isn't solely on how they dance. Taking the personal feelings of each student into account is part of the corner stone of what they hold near & dear to their teaching philosophy. If you need to hear more, feel free to reach out to me. I can't sing their praises enough. Every year I ask my daughter if she wants to go competition, and before I can finish the sentence I get an emphatic NO. If that doesn't say it all I don't know what else would.

Ms. Katelyn McMahon, the director of the ballet program, is very knowledgable and trustworthy. She is hard on her students but truly wants the best for them, and pushes them to succeed. Not only is she an outstanding ballet teacher she is also incredibly knowledgable about dance related injuries and physical therapy. I can not stress enough how much of an amazing person and teacher she is. She truly goes above and beyond. Jane, the owner, and her daughter Meghan, an assistant director, know each student individually and always makes sure all students feel welcome. I would feel comfortable talking to them about dance and non-dance related issues. Overall, after attending another dance school for a few years where I felt unwanted, I feel truly blessed to have come across CPA, when I was looking for a new dance school. The ballet intensive program is truly an intensive, complete with levels, auditions, end of year evaulations and teacher/parent conferences. I would highly recommend CPA to anyone, no matter what level or age. Truly an amazing, welcoming enviorment with highly qualified teachers and outstanding dance training.
