If you like seeing an interesting movie in an historic building, surrounded by vestiges of the past from its various eras, support local business and drink beer while you're doing that. This is your spot to go. There are a lot of things to like about Dedham Community Theatre, but if you are the type to be upset when a thing hasn't been updated, it might not be for you. I wish my neighborhood had a neat little theater like this. They choose a great line up of films for their two screens. Interesting films I wouldn't have otherwise heard of sometimes. In addition to beer they have your classic popcorn, soda, and all the regular theater snackies. They have some tables so you can sit and have a snack if you got there too early to go in. Have been meaning to check this out for a long time, and loved the experience. While it's true that it could use a renovation, it is a serviceable and fun space now for people who see it's value. (and I will almost always choose something old over something new.)

This is always a great little movie theater to see independent and foreign films. We saw The Life of Chuck, which I believe is not there anymore. Very good movie.

I try to bring my mom here as often as possible, and hope to bring my friends after the summer break! It's a great hidden gem run by a wonderful local who's always ready to give you the best personal insights on the movies or what's coming next. THIS is what movies used to be... plus there's snacks, drinks, and alcohol! A beautiful lobby with a shining chandelier greets you when you enter, and the grinning faces of audience members leaving the previous movies pass by. There are 2 theatres that play multiple viewings throughout the day. Paul, the owner, takes his time to ensure each customer has an enjoyable and satisfactory experience in the theatre, no matter if you brought your mom or your best buds! check out their website, which is always updated with current movies and info... and the ticket prices ($12-14) are a cherry on top!: https://dedhamcommunitytheatre.com

The Dedham Community Theatre is not a place I frequent. I've been here twice in my life, but it's always a pleasant experience. It could definitely use some extreme renovations and updating of furniture, but in terms of functionality and amenities, it has everything any old cinema does. And more than any general "town center" type of theatre. There are only two theatre's throughout the complex and they typically play either the most popular or complete throwback's (in terms of movies). Much smaller than any of the other cinema's in the area (possibly since this is one of the last independent, local ones). Staff are friendly, kind and the food / popcorn area isn't outrageously priced (think of Showcase!). They typically have good showings and continue to maintain their building with pride of a classic interior (older look). They also have a art gallery in the basement which is an added feature. It's not the best by any means, and the seats aren't nearly up to my standards in terms of comfortability, but it has a quaint neighborhood atmosphere the benefit of having throwback movies every now and again. 3 stars. A-OK.

So cute! I just discovered the Dedham Community Theater and now I wish they could play all the movies I want to see. Two movies playing only, though, so that means I can't always have my way. This is truly an old-fashioned theater in the best way, playing the art-housiest of the big feature releases. Beer & wine available at the concession stand and the Museum of Bad Art in the basement. Ticket prices are not even gouged! Please go and give this worthy business your patronage.

    Dedham Community celebrates my birthday!!!

As their collection grew, most of their retired vehicles were stored in the Carriage House on their estate in Brookline. In 1927, the Anderson family opened their collection for tours and, upon Isabel's death in 1948, she bequeathed her estate and automobiles to the town of Brookline with the stipulation that both be entrusted to a non-profit organization for the public. Today, the Larz Anderson Auto Museum features rotating exhibits on the ground floor and select vehicles from the museum's permanent collection on the lower level. It's a small collection, with only about 10-12 vehicles on loan from others on display in the rotating exhibits and 16 vehicles (4 of which still run and drive) from permanent collection on display at any given time. At the time of this review in September 2024, the current rotating exhibit features several post-World War II vehicles from the US and Europe, along with a small display of print and television advertising campaigns. Given the size of the museum, you can easily view the collection without rushing in about an hour. The museum hosts events on its vast lawn during the spring, summer and fall, including Cars & Coffee Boston gatherings that are open to all makes and models and other themed events that cater to specific genres of automobiles and motorcycles, including European, American, custom, Japanese tuner, alternative fuels, trucks, hot rods, and motorcycles. The museum also hosts occasional track days at Palmer Motorsports Park. Check the museum's website (https://www.larzanderson.org/) for more information. PRO TIP: The museum and its lawn are also available for rent to host private events, such as weddings, bar/bat mitzvahs, birthday parties, and corporate team building events with indoor capacity of 150 for a standing cocktail style reception or up to 100 for a formal seated dinner.

It's truly the easiest way for them to KEEP your money. As parents with NO VILLAGE and no one to watch our children we are extremely limited with timing. Very disappointed that I couldn't experience this. And very disappointed that I couldn't enjoy this. I gave the rep the exact date and time that I wanted to book for but because it was "out of their window", they didn't allow me to book. The board only listed single prices, and there was no pricing shown for doubles or larger drinks. After looking later, I saw that the full price breakdown is on the website, but I wish we had known this before ordering. Being charged $29 for an espresso martini, and 29 for a mule served in a plastic cup with no garnishes was pretty outrageous and definitely took us by surprise. I understand now when I put my apron on and found 3 empty nips in the pocket why this happened. Clearly the person that wore it before me had been before and paid too much! Overall, the painting experience and staff were great, just would wait next time and get a drink at the capital grill for the same price after.
