Unless you live downtown or work in the city and catch a movie on your way home there isn't much reason to visit this theater. There are more screens here than Assembly Row or AMC Causeway, but it's less modern. Due to the number of screens there are sometimes events that are only shown here within the area as well. I can tell that this used to be a very nice theater. However, it's in desperate need of renovation. It probably wouldn't take much. Refreshing the lobby, replacing the carpet in the hallways, and maybe an update to some of the larger auditoriums with recliners or AMC's club rockers. It doesn't even need to be all the the auditoriums, especially since there are 19 of them and even though they are just standard seats (outside of the IMAX and Dolby Theater) they're still decent. A word of caution that the IMAX here is a scope screen (so, not as tall as an IMAX usually is, even at a typical chain theater). The Dolby Cinema is good though and better than this location's IMAX. They're still the two best screens here and I would try to book either if you visit this location over any of the others. AMC could return this to a flagship theater experience by renovating common areas and say... 2 auditoriums (into Prime, or additional Dolby Cinemas). Right now though, it's dirtier with fewer amenities and a more difficult to reach (unless you're already downtown) than your other options in the area. All screens are laser projection though, and even 25 (yikes) year old Harry Potter looked fantastic (but Causeway and Assembly are also all laser, too). The employees looked to be doing their best, so I hope AMC invests the money to update this theater.

When we were there, the theatre was showing "Jane Austen Wrecked My Life," a film in French with subtitles, and Lilly, based on the life of Lilly Ledbetter. It's reminiscent of the theaters many of us remember growing up with before the advent of the "multiplex" pavilions. This movie house has old style charm while providing locals with better movies. I almost always want to see whatever is playing here. This isn't necessarily the place you'd come to see the latest blockbuster because most of the time you won't find those movies playing here. I come here because this is where you can find the less than big-budget films. You can find art house films, and the more unusual interesting movies that tend to get much less play elsewhere. You'll get indie movies thrown in the mix and film festival selections that are otherwise hard to track down. Prices are reasonable especially if you go to the first showing of the day when tickets are half price. You can find me up in the balcony, right hand side. I love that the theater has that old fashioned balcony which affords, I think, the best view. The structure itself has an illustrious history having been completed in 1852 after a Hingham women's group came up the idea to build "a commodious and suitable building for Lectures, Picnics and Social Meetings of all kinds." These ladies were able to get the attention of some notable and well-to do citizens in the Hingham community who funded their project all for the sum of $4,435.57. (I love how they recorded that figure down to the cents!). This Greek Revival structure was then modernized in 1936 and became a movie theater. It's in private hands now and is part of the Patriots Cinema chain of theaters. This particular theater retains a strong sense of community and place and is an important fixture in the Hingham community. I enjoy seeing movies here because of the atmosphere and history and I love supporting local treasures like this.

Snacks are fairly priced, too - a small popcorn/soda combo is $5.75. It's quiet (see above), and the seats may have been reupholstered, based on other critical reviews of the comfort and smell. Sound and visuals are a solid B+. It's not nostalgic like the Loring, or awe-inspiring like an IMAX, but it's an easy $6 screener. Also, again, ICE CREAM!

There is really not a bad seat in the house and I have sat everywhere here (my kid does community theater and uses this space as well). The seats are comfy too. It is a small theater but seats about 300+ but have also seen a show in the tiny black block downstairs (another space I love and very intimate). The location cannot be beat with tons of parking and a few dining options in various price ranges for pre- or post-dining and/or drinking. The Mosesian space is lovely and the New Rep is a wonderful theater experience without having to trek into the city.

The Mosesian theater seems very small & intimate, but holds nearly 350 people. The theater was very clean & modern, like a modern movie theater, with a low stage. Everything still seemes new. The seats were roomy & comfortable, with ample leg room. The seats are stadium style, and at a pretty good incline, so no tall people can block your view. Plus you are looking down at the stage. The first row of seats is close to eye level with the performers, as the stage is about 12-18 inches off the ground. Great pics of the inside seating of the theater can be found here: http://www.actorsequity.org/newsmedia/news2006/Mar1.NewRepTheatre.asp There is plenty of free parking in a covered garage adjacent to the building. I have not been to the Black Box theater underneath the Mosesian (holding about 90 people), but am anxious to try it. I saw Amadeus in April 2013 & it was fantastic. Can't wait for their upcoming schedule.

This is complete robbery. It says limited view- what it should say is shitty view aka can't see much. Miss half the show. I am extremely lucky that this was my third time seeing Blue Man. Unfortunately, someone I was with (a 9 year old) it was their first time. I had them move into better seats as I sat in the crappy seats for the whole show. The family behind me had 4 girls ranging in age from 6-14. I felt AWFUL for them. Should have thrown the money down the toilet. They couldn't see! One last bit... at the end I stood up in front of my seat and an usher came up and told me to stay out of the aisle. I WAS IN FRONT OF MY SEAT! The Blue Man Group: Show was 1.5 hrs. I paid $230 for 1.5 hrs. The show was short. It was nothing new or interesting from other shows I have seen. To be honest, this show was the most uninteresting out of all three Blue Man I have gone too. Other venues had larger stages so more action took place. This was less drumming, less paint banging, less audience interaction. It's not to say what they did they didn't put effort forth. It's to say that Chicago did it better. The cast members walked around afterwards. You could take photos with them . The travelling show in RI did it better. If you stick around you need to make some changes, keep people coming back. Keep them interested and want to spend the money to keep watching. The had the people on the floor in the front put on ponchos. WHY? They only sprayed water once into the audience! If I had paid the $225 for a seat in the front I would be PISSED!

I think most people would spend about 30-45 minutes there on average. The main attraction was located on the second floor so accessibility is a challenge since the elevator was small and also tight when going in and out. So folks with strollers and wheelchairs, it will take a bit to go up and down. You can find the elevator by Joey's Gelataria. The exhibit wasn't bad--especially if you're into dinosaurs and the history of it all. You can definitely make the best of it from many different species and fossil bone exhibits throughout. It can be very educational if you read everything presented and it's for kids of all ages. The dinosaurs throughout all move and have sound effects to hype up the kids. There's also a sandbox where kids can really get into dusting off the bones. It was pretty neat. Also towards the end, there was an activity area for kids to color and also have a mobile experience where you can doodle your own dinosaur on your personal phone and see it hatch on the big screen. Very cool I thought. But if you're just casually going in to check it out--you won't spend a whole ton of time in there. Would have been really cool if they have some rides in there for the younger kids. The gift shop had some games and things but most parents but I'm sure many parents tend to avoid those shops. Lol. Bathroom is also located all the way down at the bottom floor and is the only bathroom in the whole building. It can get very busy at Faneuil Hall so bathrooms can get a bit grimy. If you're driving in, find parking at surrounding parking lots nearby or good luck finding street parking.
