I usually cut my son's hair but we had grown a mullet and I didn't want to mess it up, especially since my son has really dark, stubborn Asian hair - it'd be easy to find the imperfections. The lady who cut his hair was fast (took probably 20 min total). She knew exactly what kind of cut I wanted (2 block hair cut). And because his hair was so long in the back, she double checked before cutting that I wanted to cut it off (much appreciated!). My son's hair was short on the top so she didn't cit length but did blend it (see pics). The place itself was clean and spacious. The cut itself was $45 without a wash, which is a couple dollars cheaper than other places I was looking up. I'd come here again.

Before the haircut, I clearly explained that I had just gotten my hair cut at another salon two…read moredays earlier and that I wasn't looking for a completely new haircut--I only wanted some adjustments to achieve the style shown in the photos of me before. I specifically asked if the stylist understood the issue and knew what needed to be done, and I was assured that they did. Unfortunately, once the haircut started, there was no communication about how much hair would be removed. The very first cut on the sides was much shorter than I expected, and at that point there was no way to undo it. If the stylist had explained their approach or confirmed the length with me first, I would have had the opportunity to say that it wasn't what I wanted. What disappointed me most wasn't just the final result--it was the lack of communication. When a customer brings reference photos and asks questions beforehand, I expect the stylist to explain the plan and make sure we're aligned before making irreversible changes. I left feeling that my concerns and the reference photos were not really taken into account. I hope the salon can improve communication with customers in the future so others don't have the same experience.

Let me tell you that this place was the MOST I've ever paid for hair coloring and balayage in my life and I've gone to Master hair colorists at luxury salons in the bay area too. Did the prices for hair products increase with Trump too??!? Sheesh. They were nice, talked me through the right shade for the balayage according to my skin tone and then she proceeded to take out a calculator to show me the cost. I was pretty shocked to see the cost, but I already made arrangements to get my hair colored that day so I begrudgingly agreed to proceed. Maybe I should have negotiated or asked if that total included tip? My hair is medium length and layered and the ash blonde/brown came out really nice, but I am still kicking myself for paying this much. I would have expected a nice head massage, complimentary tea or something for paying this much with a balayage, but it was a professional balayage with basic service/experience.

I scheduled three pedicures and one gel manicure to all happen at the same time: a gel mani, a spa pedicure, and a kids pedicure for my mom, my niece, and me so we could enjoy a little girls' day before a big trip. When I called to book, they were incredibly accommodating and let me know that my requested date would work perfectly since they had multiple nail technicians available. My mom had Tracy, who was absolutely wonderful. She gave my mom such a relaxing experience and noticed how tired she was. Since my mom has rheumatoid arthritis, Tracy gave her a gentle but firm massage that ended up being the highlight of her visit. My niece had Sydney, who was so kind and made her feel completely comfortable. She chatted with her throughout the appointment and encouraged her to speak up if she wanted anything adjusted. In the end, my niece's nails turned out exactly how she had imagined, the perfect mermaid color! I had Daniella, who was incredibly meticulous with both my gel manicure and pedicure. She paid great attention to every detail, and I couldn't be happier with the results. What really impressed me was how well the team coordinated everything. Since my gel manicure and pedicure took the longest, they timed my manicure perfectly so it was done while my mom and niece's pedicures were drying. We all ended up finishing our appointments at the exact same time, which made our girls' day so seamless and enjoyable. It may seem like a small detail, but it made a huge difference and showed how thoughtful and organized the staff is. Everyone on the team was genuinely sweet and checked in on us throughout our appointments to make sure we were comfortable and enjoying ourselves. Experiences like this are why I keep coming back to Y Salon whenever I have the chance. Highly recommend!
