My fiance and I wanted to hire Studio Cakes for a 450 person wedding. We were really looking forward meeting with them. However, they made a lot of fuss when trying to book an appointment with them. We agreed to meet on a Saturday at 2pm. Only to find out that they gave our time slot to someone else. After trying to move things around at their request we moved our schedule and drove all the way up north at 10am. A time that is difficult for us to meet but made it work anyways because we really wanted to hire them. We WAITED OUTSIDE THEIR STORE FOR 45 MINUTES and sent an email and numerous phone calls. THEY NEVER SHOWED UP for the appointment. We emailed them why they did not show up to the TIME THAT THEY REQUESTED we meet, their excuse was really weak : we don't use our emails after store hours. Hence they did not feel the common courtesy to tell a prospective and large client that they will not show up to the meeting. We personally think they were very inconsiderate and they have offered no apologizes for their lack of politeness. NOT A GOOD IDEA TO WITH SUCH RUDE PEOPLE. read more

Daniella was very prompt with responses to all of my questions and was so helpful to make things work within our budget. We went back and forth between tiered cakes and cupcakes, but finally decided on two simply cakes to get the most bang for our buck. We chose the flavors: Lovey Dovey and Strawberries Go to the City........my mouth is watering just thinking about them! They were delicious. I can't wait for another occasion to order cakes from here. They are the real deal and it was a pleasure working with them! read more

We needed a very special sculpted cake to give as a gift. We asked BethAnn to replicate a puppet used by my child's teacher. While we talked to several different bakeries, after speaking with BethAnn I immediately knew she could make a cake which met our expectations. She spends the amount of time necessary to gather information and find out exactly how you want the cake to look so the end result is magical. BethAnn is truly gifted in what and how she creates. She sincerely puts her heart and soul into the process. Our sculpted cake had so much personality and life. The coloring and likeness to the puppet was incredible. And, not to mention it tasted delicious. The chocolate cake was moist and flavorful. If you are looking for a truly unique and memorable cake, I know BethAnn at Studio Cake will exceed your expectations. read more

BethAnn is amazing and her designs, flavors and results are out of this world. I've never been more pleased to work with anyone in my life. She created a cake of our maltepoo on a Persian rug playing backgammon...really, what kind of genius comes up with that?! She had so many other great suggestions and the detail was incredible. The cake was for my husband's surprise 30th birthday and all I did was give her a few notables about my husband (his love of our dog, backgammon and the fact that he's Persian) and she went to town. I was convinced that the cake only looked amazing but it tasted fantastic too! Everyone at the party had a piece and many went back for seconds (and thirds!) BRAVO! I'll be going back many times! read more

LOVE BethAnn and Studio Cake!!! We are so excited to have BethAnn make our nontraditional cake for our November 2013 wedding! A few days ago we found out that our May wedding had to be moved to November due to my fiance's training/deployment schedule and BethAnn put me at complete ease! To quote her she wrote me back saying "....you are the sweetest bride to take this so gracefully! You will both be stronger because of it! Just let us know the new date and we'll be there for you! :)" I am so happy/lucky that I get I get to work with BethAnn. Last August, I took my mother-in-law to a cake tasting and we loved everything, but have decided to go for a full gone bananas! We are so excited about our wedding cake and know that our guest will be raving about it for years to come! ~287 days and counting... read more

BethAnn and her team are outstanding! We used Studio Cake for our wedding cake. Whenever I go to a wedding people are always talking about the cake (and not always in a good way). The biggest thing for me was having a cake that was going to taste like the actual tasting did! First, the tasting is the best I have ever experienced. The pieces are big, moist, flavorful and there are so many to choose from! Second, BethAnn was super easy to work with! She listened to everything we wanted and responded to every email very promptly. The day of the wedding, the cake was exactly how it tasted during the tasting and what we wanted! I would recommend Studio Cake to anyone in need of a cake! No regrets here! read more

Where do I begin? from the moment i found out about Studio Cake, I fell in love with BethAnne's creations. A bakeshop in redwood city has referred me to this place since I was looking to get a birthday cake for my two daughters celebrating their 1st and 3rd birthday. I wasnt looking for an elaborate wedding cake so when I saw her minimum order online, i thought for sure, that they cannot help me out. To my surprise, BethAnne has created a beautiful cake for my daughters, all within the price that I put aside and it well worth every penny. I sent BethAnne a picture of the cake I had in mind and they brought it to life. Our guests loved the cake so much, that they asked me not to cut it. When we finally did, we got a taste of heaven. Her cakes are not only beautiful on the outside, they're delicously exceptional on the inside as well. The quality of the cake was very fresh and moist and unlike other cakes I've tried where the fondant is almost inedible and tasted like cardboard, hers tasted like white chocolate. The flavors we picked were Lovey Dovey and Gone Bananas. The next time I need a special cake made, I am definitely going to BethAnne and her cute little shop in Menlo Park. I can't wait to try her other cake flavors for our future events. read more

Studio Cake - Owl birthday cake. What great detail :) - Bakeries Near Me - Menlo Park, California

Cake, my favorite part of a wedding. I feel its a "make or break" factor. Planning my wedding, I was striving to hold a reputation, to have the best wedding cake. So choosing the best cake vendor would be super important. I stumbled on Studio Cake very randomly based on a photo of a cake design I like from The Knot. Looking on the website, seeing the flavor selections, and arranging a tasting was so easy. Once I met Beth Ann in person, I knew I didn't have to look any more. She was so energetic and excited to have us taste her cake. Pricing was also fitting for our budget. I was very impressed with the flavors, and cake quality. I am a fan of fondant and she had a one-of-a-kind fondant that I loved. The stand out flavors were "lovey dovey" and "funky monkey". When I gave her my design inspiration, it was executed and displayed perfectly. I am happy to say that our wedding guests had great cake feedback and there was no cake left at the end of the night, so I believe I achieved my goal. Thank you Studio Cake! read more

We met with BethAnn for a wedding cake and immediately took a liking to her. She's so friendly and open to any idea that a customer can have. Studio Cake designed cakes for my sister's 30th Birthday party and she couldn't of been happier! Not only were the cakes beautiful, but they delivered in the taste department as well! I had ordered the tiramisu, and strawberry shortcake and with the help of BethAnn decided on a chocolate and orange cake as well. All the cake disappeared in minutes! BethAnn, thank you so much for all your wonderful ideas and ease of getting a cake to us on such short notice! Working with you was awesome, you're truly amazing at what you do! I will definitely use your services again, already trying to find a reason too! ;) I can't stress enough on how you'd be missing out if you didn't try out BethAnn for your next party! read more

BethAnn simply rocks! She always mentioned that the cake should not be a tough experience and I must say it ended up being the best experience I had while preparing my wedding, by far!. I came to BethAnn less than 3 weeks before the wedding and thank God she was available. I called her end of the week, she got back to me the same day and we agreed to meet on Monday. We met her in the shop. I must say the shop was neat, clean, and I felt like I was home. You can see the girls working on the cakes and although this was a shop, it really felt like my place... the kitchen extending into the living room. We sat at a table by the entrance, with replicas of cakes she has on her website all around us. BethAnn had plates, silverware and water waiting for us. We went over my expectations (I have no definite idea of what I wanted or than white, red and simple), but she asked questions. I had latched on 3 cakes she had on her website, so we started from there. She got me to talk, and literally 10 mn later I knew exactly what I wanted. She brought few sample cakes to taste and mentioned she needed to go to the back to sketch my ideas while we were tasting the samples. I loved the privacy. My Maid of honor and I were free to share our impressions without the inquisitive look. 10mn later, here comes BethAnn, with a yellow notepad in hands and a design for me to judge.... OMG... we were 95% done. She had captured the spirit of my taste and got it right!!!! All I added was a couple of flowers here and there and clarified the size I expected on the largest flowers and Voila! I had the design of my cake! We then discussed fillings. My Husband and I wanted fruits for our wedding in May. Lemon and strawberries...one of the sample was strawberries but it was too mild for me. She offered add more fruit in it. Finally we went over colors. I came with a sample of the red I wanted on the cake. She got her color wheel to make sure she could match the color I wanted!!!! The same night BethAnn sent a colored sketch of the design and we blessed it. It looked great on paper. BethAnn dealt directly with the Hotel where we had our wedding. I did not need to coordinate with the caterer. She also made sure the cake was delivered on time. She is located in Menlo Park and the wedding was in SF. So to be sure she'd be on time to the place, she did not hesitate to sacrifice the photos she wanted to take in the studio to ensure should would be on time!! The result? Judge by yourself! See the pictures of cake with red flowers (from Loic our photographer).... We were amazed and so were all our guests. My mom thought the flowers were fake! It was heart breaking to cut thru such a beautiful cake. A piece of Art! But when we did, it tasted like heaven! Not too sweet. moist, and the fondant was amazing! worth every penny we put in! BethAnn is an Artist with a big A and she has a great team with her. She clearly loves her work and it shows on her products! Customer relation is impeccable and her cheerful attitude brought that bubble of optimism I needed before the wedding. The hotel had saved the top tier for us to keep in a freezer I guess:) But we chose not to save it. We shared it with our friends the next day. We knew then we would go back to her for a replica one year after the wedding and we know it'll taste as good and look as great as on 5/15/2010. By now you must have guessed that I highly recommend BethAnn for your cake needs. She is a star! If you want more than a cake, something special, go to studio cake! read more

Great cake. Clean design adapted just as we had requested. They even used watercolors in the design that matched the flowers printed in the bride's dress. Most of the consultation happened via email but I was fortunate enough to meet BethAnn and the gang when I stopped by to drop off our check. Get on their schedule and trust their advice you will be happy. Bonus: At this point they have done a lot of work across the range of wedding catering companies so they coordinate with them seamlessly. read more

My best words cannot describe how much I love this place. I ordered a 2-tier Disney Cars themed cake for my son's 3rd birthday party. The cake rocked the party. Everybody loved it. The design was beautiful. Danielle communicated with me through emails promptly, and her ideas and suggestions were very helpful. Since it was a joint party and we needed to have 2 kids' names on each side, they provided us a electric turning table without even asking. The inside of the cake was delicious and moist. The funniest thing happened the night of the party that my 3-years old son was actually telling his friends how awesome his birthday cake was while laughing in his dream. read more

BethAnn made the perfect cake for our wedding last summer! We got so many compliments, both for the flavors and the design. We ordered a few dozen cupcakes, and a 2 tier cake with a hand-painted fondant base that matches our wedding invitations - BethAnn did an amazing job painting the exact design that we wanted, and also added fresh flowers to go with our color scheme. Studio Cake has so many great flavors, and we were able to pick different flavors for the top and bottom layers, as well as for the cupcakes. They even have gluten-free cupcakes that taste great, and BethAnn was kind enough to make some GF samples for the tasting as well. Initially, we weren't sure exactly what we wanted in terms of design/quantity and made some changes along the way, but she was more than happy to accommodate them. The tasting and the whole planning process was extremely fun, and we're very satisfied with our beautiful cake! read more

Studio Cake - My birthday cake! Incredible! - Bakeries Near Me - Menlo Park, California

StudioCake has delicious, creative flavors. We were not sure if we even wanted a cake for our wedding but after tasting we were convinced! We got lemon blueberry and banana. We also ordered it as a naked cake and they did the floral decoration for us (for cheaper than what the florist provided but with a perfect accent / all the same flowers). It looked gorgeous and tasted amazing. I am docking a star because 1) We requested the two flavors but said we preferred banana as #1...still our cake came with the larger layer being our #2 flavor (lemon blueberry). and.... 2) it is a bit annoying to have to take responsibility for returning the cake stand (or you are charged $50 deposit). To their credit, they did give me some extra time to return it beyond their policy but for their price I think they could easily stick around and make sure to pick it up (especially if it is at the site of a preferred partner they probably frequently visit). Still, thank you StudioCake for our first sweet treat as a married couple! It was a delicious one! read more

My husband and I hired Studio Cake to make the dessert for our summer wedding. We opted for gluten-free cupcakes displayed on a 3-tier glass tower (that we rented from Studio Cake) and ordered a small round cake for the top layer. This allowed us to have a cake cutting ceremony at the wedding but simply pass out cupcakes to the guests for dessert. We chose two flavors (chocolate mint and lovey dovey) and just a week or so before the wedding decided to add small sugar flowers to one of the flavors so that the servers could easily tell the two flavors of cupcakes apart. We also decided to place a larger order just a few weeks before the wedding and Studio Cake was easy to work with and flexible about these changes. In addition we had some changes with the cupcake tower as I had originally wanted to decorate the tower but in the end the glass tower they let us rent was elegant and beautiful so I was very happy with the end results. Additionally both flavors of the cupcakes and cake were delicious! read more

We had an amazing experience working with BethAnn to create the perfect cake for our wedding! She was great to work with, and provided us great advice and guidance along the way as we designed our cake with her. During our cake tasting, she provided us with a few flavor options in addition to the flavors we were interested in, and we ended up adding one flavor we weren't considering to our mix! This flavor ended up being a complete hit! 3 different flavors on our amazing 4-tier cake - all very delicious, moist, flavorful, and great looking, too. Our guests LOVED the cake! BethAnn and her team did the finishing touches of placing the flowers on the cake - gorgeous! Highly recommend Studio Cake for your next event! read more

I had the dubious honor of shopping for a wedding cake last year. I say dubious, because what we were asking for was not your run of the mill, white and square wedding cake. We had a very definite idea of what we wanted and it was way off the beaten path. I spoke to several bakers in the Bay Area and many of them shied away or worse tried to convince me that I didn't want the cake I wanted. When I spoke with Beth-Ann she not only did not shy away, or discourage us, she worked with us and helped us bring this quirky little cake into reality. It was the talk of the wedding! She even added a few touches of her own, that reflected us as a couple and made the whole cake even more than we had imagined. We cannot thank you enough for making that dream a reality. She cared about our cake and she cared about how it would come off. As amazingly nontraditional as the cake was, she presented us with a work of art. I have two friends of mine getting married soon and I have suggested both of them talk with Studio Cake. I was not disappointed in the least, and would suggest anyone needing a cake that is more than just food to follow our lead and call. Beautiful and delicious, you just can't ask for more. Thank you again Beth Ann for making our cake and making the memories you helped create. read more

Beth Ann is a genius! Her unique cakes are pieces of ART! Daniella is so awesome to work with! So responsive and helpful. We are so happy we got our wedding cake through Studio Cake as it was absolutely gorgeous (exactly as the photo we had shown as a model with flowers added on by our amazing florist, Carol Ralles of Design with Flowers) and DELICIOUS! We had one layer with pucker up and the other layer with strawberries go to the city. We had trouble choosing only 2 flavors since all 6 flavors we tried at our tasting were so yummy. The only negative I would say is that it would have cost us $40 to rent a cake stand, so we went with the option of buying one for $20 (would have been awesome to just rent one for cheaper). Overall we loved our wedding cake and experience with Studio Cake! Thank you so much!! read more

We loved working with Studio Cake for our wedding in June. BethAnn was amazing to work with. We loved our cute tasting appointment and her art work to draw up our concept. So my wife and I were looking for a wedding cake designer for our wedding and by chance met with Beth Ann. My wife had a very specific design in mind. It was reasonably simple, but because it was simple, it had to be perfect. The only requirement that I had was that it had to taste really, really, good. I couldn't care less how it looked. After meeting with Beth Ann, seeing several mock up drafts (she's an incredible artist), we finally decided one of the drafts. We did a tasting and decided to go with the ginger passion fruit. Bottom line: the design was perfect and the cake was absolutely delicious. We had many compliments on both after the wedding. I am SO glad that we chose Studio Cake that I am telling all my friends who are in the market for a wedding or specialty cake to use Beth Ann. We went with her before she became famous (Martha Stewart show), so I'm not sure if her pricing has changed at all, but she was one of the more reasonably priced options as well. We are very happy to support a small business owner and the product is exceptional. We will be on our way back to order some cupcakes of the same flavor. If you are in the market for a unique design and want the best int he business, you will not be disappointed. Seriously. There are no other options as good as Beth Ann. Studio Cake provided the most impressive corporate cake I have ever seen. From the design to the Party, working with Beth Ann has been a great experience: - We spend all the necessary time drawing the cake on paper. I had brought my company logos, corporate colors and specific visuals to get inspiration from. Beth Ann then added many details that really make the design outstanding. She didn't fear being creative and I would have never thought we could design a cake so precisely and neatly. - The cake she delivered was exactly what we had designed together. Amazing. Even the colors where a perfect match. - The cake was clearly the highlight of the cocktail. so many people took pictures. What a great dessert with a glass of champagne. If you want a cake that will wow the socks off your guests, BethAnn is your baker! She is extremely sweet, talented, responsive, and attentive to detail. At our very first cake tasting, she made sure to sit down with me and my fiancé to go over all the fine details of what we wanted in a cake. We were so impressed by her talent, kindness, and sincerity that we hired her without looking into any other baker - and it was one of the best decisions we made. We knew we wanted our cake, like our wedding, to both impress our guests and yet stay true to who we were by displaying a number of intimate, personal details. We expected that BethAnn was talented enough to deliver, but she went above and beyond what we could ever have dreamed of! She took close note of what we wanted and, since our wedding was fairy-tale themed, she baked us an incredible 3.5-foot-tall castle cake with sparklers to emulate the Disney fireworks show! We were originally going to display our cake off to the side at a cake station, but since our castle cake was so stunning, we placed it right in the center of the dance floor. It truly stole the show, in all the right ways. All our guests remembered the cake and were snapping pictures of it throughout the night. They couldn't get enough of it, and when they found out it was 100% real cake, they were even more amazed. And I'll never forget the moment when the sparklers were set off, and I was brought back to my fiancé's and my happy moments watching the fireworks at Disney (one of our favorite places on Earth), as well as the night he proposed to me and had small sparklers in the background (a detail which BethAnn also noted). The cake enchanted all of us, in more ways than one. Aside from baking incredible cakes, BethAnn is also probably the sweetest person you'll ever meet. She's personable, takes time to listen, and is super responsive - she responded to my first email about two minutes after I'd sent it! I thought it was a one-time thing, but she responded to every other email I sent (and trust me, I had plenty of questions and concerns) within minutes and, at the very most, hours after sending it. This kind of detail and attention from someone as busy as BethAnn is rare and hard to come by in the wedding industry these days, but it gave me plenty of reassurance during a stressful planning process that was full of questions about almost every aspect but my cake. And finally, her cake tastes delicious. BethAnn is extremely modest despite her stellar accomplishments (winning an episode of Food Network Challenge for best cake), but her cakes speak for themselves. After our first tasting, my fiancé chose one flavor he loved, but I was still looking for more because I have extremely picky tastes. BethAnn immediately arranged a second cake tasting for us, and this time I found a flavor I loved. Instead of having us choose, she made our castle cake with two flavors! After our wedding, my fiancé and I realized we'd been so swept up in the moment that we hardly had time to examine all the fine details of our beautiful castle cake. Luckily, our friends had taken numerous pictures of the cake, and we discovered that BethAnn had included personal details of ours on the windows of the castle - from the custom design of my engagement ring to a picture of my favorite pet to a motif from our favorite memory together. She remembered every single story we told her. Looking back at all these details, and how much more magical they made our cake, brought us to happy tears and made our wedding even more special. Our wedding cake was truly the piece de resistance for our fairy-tale wedding, and it was such an effortless process all thanks to BethAnn's talent and hard work. And because she's so sweet, we met a great friend along the way. My fiancé and I will be ordering cakes from her now for every wedding anniversary. It's clear that BethAnn loves what she does, and you will, too - I promise you that hiring her is a decision you won't regret! read more

BethAnn and her team are amazing and so are the cakes! My wife and I had Studio Cake make our wedding cake last year. Bethanne was a wonderful collaborator. She was patient, professional, funny and friendly. Not only did she listen and make detailed notes of my and my wife's requests but she made brilliant suggestions when my wife and I could not make a decision on certain details of the cake. The cake we were delivered (right on time, wich is especially impressive since we were married in a location "off the beaten track") was better than I or my wife could have ever imagined. it was highly complicated, whimsical, artistic and of course, absolutely delicious! Boy, did BethAnn come through with an outdoors-themed cake that was photographed more than us at our wedding. We received so many compliments on the taste as well! I wanted a really nice cake for my wedding day, since that would also be my birthday! My co-worker had just gotten married right when I was trying to find someone to make my cake. I saw pictures from her wedding and when I saw the cake I was amazed on how pretty it was. Right away I asked her who made her cake and she responded my sister. I did not believe her.......so then I asked if her sister made cakes for just anyone. She then told me that BethAnn had just opened her own shop and was about to be on Martha Stewart! My sisters were going to pay for my cake as a gift and had been checking out a bunch of cake shops. I sent them BethAnn's website and they were so impressed! We right away set up a time to go meet with BethAnn. I knew exactly what I wanted but was afraid that I wouldn't get it. After my meeting with BethAnn I knew I was going to get the cake of my dreams! Sure enough when I saw my cake the day of my wedding I was speechless! I couldn't believe someone could make a perfect cake like that! I really didn't want to cut it but of course what's a wedding without cutting the cake....so we cut in and take our first bite as husband and wife..........OMG! Best cake to date I have ever tasted and it was cocunut! Everyone was so worried they weren't going to like it since the bottom layer was cocunut......but everyone loved it! I was going to save the top like everyone says you should.....which we did the first night. Come Sunday the day after the wedding, I couldn't wait a year. I decided I needed a taste of the top layer which is chocolate my favorite. I cut into it and took a bite.....and another bite.....and another! We had circuitry pattern on the first layer, binary code pattern on the second layer, and an edible computer with code on the third layer. The topper we provided ourselves, which was a 3D printed replica of us. The whole cake is just incredible!!! From the tasting to delivering the cake, studio cake is just amazing! The cake is the best cake we've had from any bakery. In fact, we had a slice three years before the wedding at random and remembered the bakery for how good the cake tasted, so we went there when it was time to get our wedding cake. Thank you studio cake!!! :-D read more
