Studio Caffeine is a great spot to get a well-made fry up/English breakfast in a few different varieties along with some strong espresso to wake yourself up. The restaurant is located right on Temple Street, easy to find. The inside is small, cozy, and clean, decorated in a rustic style with maybe 10 tables or so. When I arrived at about 10:30 AM on a Saturday there were several open tables, but by the time I left (a little after 11) the restaurant was full, so you may need to wait a bit if you arrive during rush times. The ordering process is order-at-the-counter style, with a staffer bringing your food and/or drinks when they're ready. Like many places in Hong Kong, Studio Caffeine does not seem to have drip coffee available, so if you're just a plain black coffee drinker like me, you'll have to be okay with an Americano or a shot of espresso. My Americano was pretty good, though not the best, but the prices here are extremely reasonable so no complaints. As mentioned, the English breakfast comes in a few different varieties. I went with the "Classic," which consists of scrambled eggs, baked beans, toast, bacon, pork sausage, and salad. Each item was very good (and again, excellent value for the price, though I would have liked to see maybe a little more protein and a little less lettuce) and I left the restaurant feeling full and satisfied. I usually visit this spot 1-2 times per trip to HK. The breakfasts are super good, and excellent coffee!

There are plenty of tourists around in Jordan, but not a lot of western themed places along Temple Street which is why Studio Caffeine stood out for me. There are several around HK, but this by far the most popular of the bunch. Now that hotels are continually popping up all throughout Kowloon, it's only a matter of time that more places like this will eventually pop up around the surrounding areas. It's a narrow space, but the place is cute. Almost all the tables are accommodating to groups of 4 at best, but it's also ideal for solo diners or coffee dates. Like anything in Hong Kong, it's cramped and a bit tight but clean and bright. The initial draw to come here was for their *all day breakfast* which is essentially a UK brekkie set. The plates can be customized but they have a few set options that include vegetarian ($115HKD), Monster ($135HKD), and American ($125HKD). The latter is a little laughable because there's nothing about the platter that makes me think of anything American. Instead of hashbrowns, omelettes, white/wheat toast, or grits (#1), we have a plate that consists of: Nuremberg sausage, cherry tomatoes, bacon, baked beans, portobello with cheese, and smoked salmon. (#2) It was okay overall, but the portions were a bit modest at best. Their linguine plates are passable, but as expected are pricey at $135+ each. It's not bad food, but it's not even remotely close to the real thing. The same would apply to their bagels (#3), croissant sandwiches and paninis. I think the salads, especially the salmon caesar ($105HKD) and smoked duck breast with pear slices ($115HKD) are pretty good finds for the area. I would pass on their cream roll desserts but definitely make note of their monthly drink specials. The service varies, but is generally good. I've noticed that outside of the menu items, English within the staff really varies. The mornings are often the most relaxed times to be here and the coffee is usually better around this time. They accept credit cards, Octopus cards, and are located about 2 blocks from the C2 exit from the Jordan MTR station. ___________ (#1) Southerners, where you at? I came here based on the yelp reviews, but I have to say it wasn't as good as I expected, and quite irritating actually. The food was good, but the coffee I feel was very average. Below are the details: We got here and noticed the place is super small. We were seated (party of 2) and given menus, and picked our food/drinks fairly quickly. We wanted to try a variety of coffees, so we got the 3-coffee flight (each). Well, they gave us 2 each. But that's not even the part I had issues with. I don't speak Mandarin or Cantonese, so I'm ok with people not getting my order correctly all the time. Most of the time they do, and if they don't, no biggie... I have enough sense of humor to deal with that. What I didn't appreciate was that we got the food, finished it, and had to grab the attention of the waiter about 3-4 times to see what happened to the coffees. As far as I could keep track, the tables on either side of us turned over 3 times before we got the first flight of coffee, and another 10 mins before we got the next one. So trying coffees side by side definitely went out the window. What really bothered me was that all the coffees tasted EXACTLY THE SAME! I really don't think the barista knew what he/she was doing (there are so many people back there there's no way to know who did what). Everything tasted acidic to the point were we just chugged things down to get our caffein fix and leave ASAP. I'm enough of a coffee connoisseur to have the pallet to tell the difference between two different coffees. It's not my first time trying coffee samplers. But if we ordered 4 different things and everything tastes exactly the same to both of us, somebody somewhere got the stuff mixed up... after trying to make it for over 30 mins!!! Studio Caffeine was only a few blocks away from the hotel I was staying at which made it a convenient spot to hit up. I went here twice during my stay in HK. One morning I went and it was not busy at all, the place is quaint with tons of wall decorations. The first time I went the service was super nice and fast. I ended up ordering an iced mint mocha. It was good and not too sweet. The espresso was strong and it was a good pick me up. The second time I went was super busy... the whole place was crowded and it took a while for the drinks to come out. However, i'd say the place is foreigner friendly as far in the ease of ordering, etc. I got the creme brulee latte this time. It was just as good as the mint mocha. Not too sweet and the coffee taste was the main factor. The one interesting thing I noticed is they had sticky notes all alongside one wall, which someone had told me that restaurants or businesses with sticky notes and typically in support of the protests because students or protesters will go their and leave the sticky notes. Which was first I had no clue and just thought the sticky notes were just random. But, it was cool to find out they had meaning. read more

Expensive, average and overpriced western breakfast, coffee is good, but expensive. They do have a deal during the week in the Am hours to get a free latte up to a certain amount with the purchase of breakfasts. Make sure to read the fine print though...as you may think your latte is free and then it isn't. This seems more of a local spot for expats, as I didn't notice any other tourists here. I also did notice some local families and business professionals coming in as I left. The environment is nice, clean, and the music playing in the background is relaxing. They aren't too busy either if you go early when they first open around 8-9am. It is a good spot for reading, going on a coffee date, or a quiet place to work on a computer for a bit. They offer free wifi, free water and a bathroom for all customers. Overall good place. Next time I would probably skip the food as it wasn't impressive, but I would go back for the coffee and the atmosphere! read more

You have to order at the front (they don't come to you). We ordered the English/American breakfast and it satisfied my cravings so much. Quiet atmosphere, great all-day breakfast. I'm a 6'3 American with a big appetite, and Studio Caffeine's Heavy Metal breakfast satisfied. I paid $88 HKD or ~$6.75 USD, which sounds high (most meals in small shops are ~$50 HKD), but well worth it. Food was tasty and filling, wifi super fast, owners are friendly, and it's clean and quiet. Highly recommended. We stayed in the Jordan Road area for two weeks and this became the go-to breakfast place. It opens early at 7am, which is unusual in HK, its prices are very reasonable, its coffee is great, and the breakfasts are hearty. And it's a clean, multilingual shop. Overcrowded. Ignored for the most part by an insolent waitress. Ordering procedures and protocol not posted, that one had to go to cashier and make your order. Waitress instead let 25 minutes pass before explaining this after ignoring my passionate gesticulations. Misleading menu: my wife ordered from the part on the menu labeled "crossant and salad". One would assume this means you get a croissant with your salad. Instead brought only a salad. Not a single item in this subheading would clue one in as to which plate has the croissant and which one doesn't. I ordered the "Christmas all day" breakfast. Looks impressive in photo but really half of the plate is salad and the other half with breakfast items. Scrambled egg portion was something less than a two egg scramble, closer to one. Quite runny. There was absolutely nothing unique or special about the food. I have had better and more filling breakfasts at Denny's. I rarely write reviews on food, more on travel, but I write this one because I do not understand how this place has received so many positive reviews. In parts of Asia, you can go to places like Cambodia and find great bread and pastries because the French influence lives on. If HK is to be judged in this manner, then we can see the great British tradition of wonderful filling breakfasts in its death throes. This coffee shop was a perfect stop for breakfast on the last day of our stay in Hong Kong, when we were starting to miss American food and coffee. The breakfast plates are a large assortment of foods we had been missing, specifically the salad and fruit on the vegetarian plate. I ordered a flat white (free on weekdays with a breakfast plate) and it was beautiful and exactly what I had been craving. The "American" breakfast plate is definitely more British than American, but either way, having some western food was a nice change. The shop is cute and modern looking and played American music the whole time we were there. It's not the place for an authentic Hong Kong breakfast, but it's a great choice when you're a homesick American. An added bonus for us was the location in Kowloon rather than Hong Kong island. I got the impression there are more western restaurants on Hong Kong island, but since our hotel was in Kowloon, this was a much easier breakfast stop. read more

Two things going on here. Coffee science and extraordinarily good breakfast. Coffee is made to allow you to understand the balance between flavor, aroma, acidity. I did the iced drip which is an experience not to missed. Served from its single serving carafe (limited supply during the day) which you pour into a wine glass. Meditate over it as I guarantee the caffeine level is high. This is not like USA cold brew. No relation. The monster all day breakfast was delicious. Even the beans were untypical. Sweeter, deeper then their English counterpart. The vinaigrette was masterful. Combine the amount of proteins with veg and it's an extraordinary yummy break from the wonderful Hong Kong food which you can enjoy the rest of the day. I tasted the cappuccino and found it best I've had. They understand their beans here. But the amount of coffee tasting flights makes this a place worth revisiting. Also. No rush during breakfast.
