What I got- a mismatched wobbly tire

What a frustrating waste of time and money. Don't get me wrong- Martin and Maury were both kind and tried to be understanding and helpful. Unfortunately, the attention to detail at both this and the Butler location is not sufficient. When a store screws up and damages your car or causes enormous inconveniences, some refund or retention effort should be made. I have had most of my major car service and repair done at Mavis for 5 years now. I emailed corporate about a frustrating experience at Butler- no answer. This time I made an appointment for 3 new tires (after a flat was recently replaced). I let them know when I called that I had a negative experience recently at their neighboring store in Butler. They said they'd be glad to service my vehicle and ensure it was done in a satisfactory manner. The first problem was that there was no thought to check inventory to see if they had the three matching tires I needed. So upon arrival for my appointment, I had to come back an hour and a half later, after they went to get the tires from a neighbor store. Frustrating, but not a big deal. The following day when I took my car on the highway, there was a noticeable wobble that felt unsafe. I was on my way to Long Island, so I stopped at the nearest location in Lodi to ensure the car was safe to drive. This slowed me down an hour. They let me know it was safe but after I did a visual check, I realized ONE OF THE TIRES WAS NOT A MATCH- it was a different brand than all the others and did not match what was on my receipt. I called to let Martin know what happened and that I'd expect a manager to provide a partial refund for the incredible and frustrating inconvenience of having to stop at another store AND come back to his store to get the tires I should've had in one quick visit. So, by now, I've arrived at a Mavis four times to get the tires I needed (having called ahead for the fourth visit, to ensure they had a single tire in stock- something no one at the store thought of). Martin was no where to be found and the store seemed to have a brand new manager. I was told they'd offer me 50% off the tire I was getting. HA! I already paid for the tire, and I came in to finally receive the one that was not installed. I told them I would hope for and request some retention effort for these extra hours of annoying phone calls, drive time and repeat visits to get a simple tire change. No retention effort was offered. I let them know I'd likely not be back and they'd be getting these reviews. Save yourself the pain and go literally anywhere else! UPDATE: The store was not empowered to provide any retention effort, but the Consumer Solutions team contacted me today. I'm changing my review from 2 to 3 stars since they offered me some credit on any future work done. I'm not sure I'll risk going back, but I appreciate the effort either way.

Brought my car in for "free" tire rotation. Was told I needed brakes. As I was driving car back to Florida I said ok. They broke the sensor. Dashboard lit up with errors. After 3 days back & forth they took it to Subaru who fixed sensor but they said they also picked holes in the wire harness which they sent me pictures of. Sent them to mavis who said they fixed sensor & car is now "operational " will not pay to replace wire harness. Subaru quoted price of $5,200. To fix. This was mavis on Hamburg Tpk Wayne, NJ. To owner who responded. I've spoken to representatives numerous times. Gentlemen at that number was person who send they would not fix it cause car was "operational" . For how long? Taking absolutely no responsibility for damage to my car

Joe Sirugo is THE BEST for transmissions…read more ABSOLUTELY DO NOT GO TO GERMAN TRANSAXLE IN BEND OREGON. I should've read my warranty with German transaxle... ($60/hr up to$500 maximum if something goes wrong) Nobody works on transmissions for under $90/hr and you definitely can't remove and replace a transmission for $500. It is MUCH more than that. Joe and Eric will beat their price and give a better warranty guaranteed. This is my story about German Transaxle.... I'll try to keep this short and to the point. I purchased a rebuilt trans from GTA and drove my VW Eurovan RV (see photo) to the east coast to visit my mom and my 90 year old grandparents. By the time I got from California to New Jersey the transmission failed. A bearing started making an incredible grinding noise and was getting louder and louder every mile. So there I was, stuck in Jersey in the middle of the winter. I exhausted a multitude of expensive transport options. I needed to swap the faulty transmission for a new one. The most logical option was to have GTA send a new one to a shop in Jersey and to send the old one back. GTA absolutely WOULD NOT send me a new transmission until they had the old one in their possession. (??) It made me feel like they didn't trust that I would give them my old core back? What do I know? I don't know how things go in the world of used transmissions. At any rate, no shop in Jersey was going to let my RV sit on their lift for 3 weeks while I shipped the old one and waited for a new one. Every shop reasoned that an immobilized lift would cost them thousands of $$ and apparently you can't just take out the transmission and move the vehicle off the lift, because the transmission bolts into the sub-frame and things get real loosey-goosey when you take the transmission out. My other option was to flatbed my RV from coast to coast. The cost for that is astronomical. I didn't have an extra $10,000 laying around. I seriously thought I was going to lose my RV ($30,000). I ended up ditching my plan to see family and had to limp my RV to a storage yard and fly home ($400) to CA and get back to work. 2 months later I formed a plan that I think no sane person in their 40's would do. I talked to one of the transmission shops I had talked to and asked them if they would help me save my RV. He thought I was crazy but he was aware of my position. He said he didn't want to see me lose my RV and if I really was going to do it, he would let my vehicle sit in his lift for 8 days, no charge. PCT Transmissions Pompton Plains, NJ Joseph Sirugo He rebuilds and guarantees better prices, better warranty %. (973)628-0678 Anyways, I flew back to Jersey ($400), rented a car, put the old transmission in the back of the rental and drove and slept next to a transmission on the side of the interstate for 8 days (see photo) from Jersey to Bend and back to Jersey. ($800 rental + 7,000+/- miles of fuel) GTA inspected and agreed that their product failed. They said they weren't going to charge me the $1100 +/- for the damaged parts but they WERE going to deduct the mileage I put on the old transmission from the new transmission's warranty. (??) I was really surprised when they told me they could charge me. The owner helped me load the new transmission into my vehicle and after seeing my sleeping bag next to it, laughingly said "now, get to work"... I then drove all the way back across the United States. This an unemotional, factual account of a 5 month ordeal from me finding GTA online, getting my old transmission replaced with them, having the new transmission fail, almost losing my RV and, against all odds, figuring out a solution. Like I told GTA, if I owned their company, I would have sent my customer a new transmission without question right away and done everything in my power to make it right. I guess since they have the market cornered on the west coast, they don't really have to worry about that. Either way, my experience with GTA was costly, frustrating and time consuming. (I did not include the $$ I lost for taking time off work either.) I don't hold grudges, but as a consumer, I feel it my duty to unemotionally relay to other consumers the facts here. My new transmission has performed well, but I would strongly encourage anyone working with GTA to: ***READ YOUR WARRANTY*** This can happen to you.

He hardly worked on it, he had a lame excuse anytime I'd get him on the phone (which was rare). Instead he was "attempting" to do the repair, likely spent an hour or two at most and did so, here and there, the repair was not done and he broke parts and hardly did anything he was asked to do, he was supplied every single prt and tool by me, he did do what he was hired to do and what he did was minimal and broken and incomplete. He brought it back as an incomplete, ruined repair and took him weeks to do anything to it, as he did hardly much that was needed. Really, this was a very bad experience working with him y regrets are high. How dos he sleep at night? The money he ripped my friend off is also being handled in an separate matter, he's not keeping that money, no one gets paid for ruining people's things and breaking things and where we had to bring this repair elsewhere, to an actual professional to fix this guy's crap he broke and we have to pay more to have it all fixed now??
