Here's something I don't say every day: I had a great experience at a mechanic. I usually do all my…read moreown work on my cars (and Motorcycles) because I HATE how most shops operate. Feels kinda weird actually having a good experience... but I have to give credit where it's due. Lube Express took care of me! I arrived at 8 am in the morning, and the owner came out to greet me. I was just here for an oil change, and he was able to get me right in. Some observations. When Mike, the owner, came out to talk with me, he was clean, well spoken, and professional. You can tell just talking to him that he's a straight shooter, and runs a tight shop. I sat in the customer lounge, which was clean, well organized, and actually smelled nice. The mechanic came out just once to verify my choice of oil, and didn't try to upsell me any nonsense. I hate when those other quicky-lube places try to tell me my PCV valve needs replacing, because "it's pretty dirty." Those amateurs don't even know what a PCV valve does, much less when it needs replacing. None of those shenanigans here. Another observation: You can tell these guys have their stuff together. I took a good look into the shop, and they have their tools laid out in a very organized way. The shop is also clean, even the floor. It speaks well of these guys. I appreciate an organized shop. All in all, this was a 5 star oil change experience. Nice Work Mike, Paul, and crew! I will be coming back for my next oil change!

Well when you get there it's a bait and switch. The $99.99 service I chose online turns out to be $200 because it's a European car. I was past due on the oil change and it was late in the day so I continued with the service because I didn't have many options at that point since I work during the week and won't be able to get it done for another week if I passed on it. This is exactly what they are counting on. Needless to say, I will not return there. No transparency in the pricing and once you're there they know it's 50% chance you'll give in because the appointment is made, you've driven there already and you need it done. That's just not cool whatsoever. I hate when businesses can't be honest from the get go. You lose my business plain and simple. I thought I was saving by not taking it to the dealer, but actually paid more. I should've just gone to the dealer service dept. The icing on the cake was having to sit in the waiting room listening to propaganda fox fake news. Definitely not going back.

Went to the dealership (the one next town over) for a simple oil change. Within an hour I get text with a video from the dealership recommending $7000 worth of work. I of course declined and told them to just finish the oil change but when I picked up the car, you bet I drove straight to Montclair Motorwerks from there. Ken and his team took a look at the vehicle and while some of the repairs recommended by the dealership were legitimate, others weren't really needed. The honesty was refreshing. Turned out the vehicle did need some extensive work (thanks Dad). The car was ready within a few days and the price (which was still in the four figures to reflect the scope of the work done) was a fraction of what the dealership would have charged. Additionally I was very careless in leaving something extremely valuable in the vehicle. One of the technicians found it and turned it over to Frankie for safe keeping. Anybody with questionable morals could have taken it and I wouldn't have known. When I picked up the car, it was there for me and while I was of course embarrassed, I was grateful. I'm under no impression that BMWs are cheap vehicles to own and maintain. They aren't. But the high degree of trust I gained from my first encounter with Ken, Frankie an their team made Montclair Motorwerks my go-to since then.

The only reason I'm leaving this review is because the manager's attitude was rude & Im glad I didn't go to their recommended mechanic because birds of a feather flock together plus so far all the shops I been to in NJ does is fix somethings improperly, break things that wasn't broken then say it could be multiple issues causing the problem that didn't exist until entering their shop....Its not even about the money because I always pay in full & sometimes upfront thinking guys are as stand up as I am as a paying customer but NO always to my surprise they're sabotages with a smile & its frustrating when you play your part upping the money but all they're just doing is looking for or creating ways to keep their hands in my pocket or pass me around like I'm some cash cow because I own a luxury vehicle......I need the contact to the mechanic task force who investigates these types of injustices because I'm the one paying tens of thousands for their mistakes.....I guess saving money isn't an option in NJ when repairs are often done carelessly....

For years, my family and I have been harassed by strange women and men in Essex County, NJ. My conclusion: People think I am anti-Italian, which is ridiculous. My parents were/are Italian-American. My mother was lovely and a wonderful parent. Her family was like a Big Hug. Because of sick/crazed women (and men), I have been bullied and harassed with intent for years. I have been called names; women have cited my body to me in a perjorative tone. I have had to file police reports about these strange/sick women harassing me. I have gone to restaurants and other establishment where strangers have gone out of their way to talk about their Italian heritage and/or relatives near me. Great! I love Italian food and Italian culture! Please don't feel compelled to mention Italian food/culture around me to offend me. I love it all. This is what happened as I waited for my husband to pick me up after I dropped off my car. An employee also spelled my name wrong and said something to the effect of, "Of course, that makes sense." And after he got my car model wrong (a co-worker corrected him with the right car model I brought in to get serviced.) It saddens me that I felt so uncomfortable. The team seems knowledgeable and experienced. My husband has volunteered to take my car to Fix N Fuel after my most recent experience with folks.

He shrugs his shoulders. So I go and see the lady I made the appointment with inside the car wash. She looks at her paperwork and confirms my appointment, but since he's working on another car, maybe I should have gotten there earlier. I tell her that I was told to be there by 9am, which I am. She tells me I might have to wait. I tell her I have an appointment, and she says it's like at the doctor's office when they're running late, you don't get to see the doctor at your appointment time. I tell her that the guy says he's not even sure he can finish my car today... You ever see the Seinfeld where he's at the airport to p/u his rental car but is told they don't have any cars left and he says "but I have a reservation!" Same deal, they know how to write down an appointment or a reservation, but they don't know how to hold the appointment/reservation, which is the most important part! I left. I still get my car washed there, but I won't ever go back for detailing or anything else like that.

When I pushed back stating it was a nail nowhere near the sidewall and the quintessential candidate for a repair they put me on hold. I knew they were never coming back so I went over and got there minutes before closing. Car was still up on a jack. I asked that they put the tire back on and return the car to me. I noticed while they were doing it the tire was in fact plugged. The person helping me stated there was still a slow week and they recommend replacing the tire for $600. Anyway fast forward several weeks an the tire is fine. Gave them two stars because I guess the technically did plug/repair the tire
