Went to the dealership (the one next town over) for a simple oil change. Within an hour I get text with a video from the dealership recommending $7000 worth of work. I of course declined and told them to just finish the oil change but when I picked up the car, you bet I drove straight to Montclair Motorwerks from there. Ken and his team took a look at the vehicle and while some of the repairs recommended by the dealership were legitimate, others weren't really needed. The honesty was refreshing. Turned out the vehicle did need some extensive work (thanks Dad). The car was ready within a few days and the price (which was still in the four figures to reflect the scope of the work done) was a fraction of what the dealership would have charged. Additionally I was very careless in leaving something extremely valuable in the vehicle. One of the technicians found it and turned it over to Frankie for safe keeping. Anybody with questionable morals could have taken it and I wouldn't have known. When I picked up the car, it was there for me and while I was of course embarrassed, I was grateful. I'm under no impression that BMWs are cheap vehicles to own and maintain. They aren't. But the high degree of trust I gained from my first encounter with Ken, Frankie an their team made Montclair Motorwerks my go-to since then.

I was having car problems and had to leave my car on an unknown street. When I returned in the morning to put my spare tire on with zero experience. Rich gladly asked to help me on a Sunday morning. They did seem to care about making it right, so I think that's really important to a business so I increased my vote because I have had some lousy customer service experiences, but if a place wants to make right and make a customer happy, then I want to give them credit. I had an engine light on, looked up likely causes, asked them to replace that part. The guy really tried pushing a $100 diagnostic test, but if through research I found that it's 90% likely for my make/model to be a certain sensor I didn't see the point. He seemed like he didn't know what the sensor was even though I had a print off where it had the name. He told me I meant something else, another sensor, and since I don't know a lot about cars I trusted him and had the other part replaced. When the engine light came back on, I went to another shop and they confirmed I was right, the sensor I had named as the problem was the problem. STS is either incompetent or scammers who tried to take advantage of the fact I don't know a lot about engines. Buyer beware! I went back to speak to manager but he told me to talk to the guy (the assistant manager) who I originally talked to. I am going to try to get a straight answer from him or from corporate but my impression so far is that they really don't know what they are doing. If they replaced the exact part I had asked for without misleading me, then I wouldn't have had to blown money on a second repair. I am very unhappy with service here and plan to see if I can get a straight answer.

For years, my family and I have been harassed by strange women and men in Essex County, NJ. My conclusion: People think I am anti-Italian, which is ridiculous. My parents were/are Italian-American. My mother was lovely and a wonderful parent. Her family was like a Big Hug. Because of sick/crazed women (and men), I have been bullied and harassed with intent for years. I have been called names; women have cited my body to me in a perjorative tone. I have had to file police reports about these strange/sick women harassing me. I have gone to restaurants and other establishment where strangers have gone out of their way to talk about their Italian heritage and/or relatives near me. Great! I love Italian food and Italian culture! Please don't feel compelled to mention Italian food/culture around me to offend me. I love it all. This is what happened as I waited for my husband to pick me up after I dropped off my car. An employee also spelled my name wrong and said something to the effect of, "Of course, that makes sense." And after he got my car model wrong (a co-worker corrected him with the right car model I brought in to get serviced.) It saddens me that I felt so uncomfortable. The team seems knowledgeable and experienced. My husband has volunteered to take my car to Fix N Fuel after my most recent experience with folks.

I made an appointment with Frankie's for an interior detailing of my car. I was told to bring my…read morecar in by 9am and it would be done around 1-1:30pm. So I get there the day of my appointment at 9am. The guy doing the detailing tells me he's working on another car that just came in and maybe he can work on my car in the afternoon, but no guarantees. I tell him I made an appointment. He shrugs his shoulders. So I go and see the lady I made the appointment with inside the car wash. She looks at her paperwork and confirms my appointment, but since he's working on another car, maybe I should have gotten there earlier. I tell her that I was told to be there by 9am, which I am. She tells me I might have to wait. I tell her I have an appointment, and she says it's like at the doctor's office when they're running late, you don't get to see the doctor at your appointment time. I tell her that the guy says he's not even sure he can finish my car today... You ever see the Seinfeld where he's at the airport to p/u his rental car but is told they don't have any cars left and he says "but I have a reservation!" Same deal, they know how to write down an appointment or a reservation, but they don't know how to hold the appointment/reservation, which is the most important part! I left. I still get my car washed there, but I won't ever go back for detailing or anything else like that.

This shop's negligence put my life in danger…read more I had my car towed to Park Street Automotive with clear symptoms of a critical suspension failure: a violent lurch to the left when braking, a loud rumbling, and a worsening steering wobble. They ignored these critical safety symptoms and diagnosed only a noisy exhaust. When I questioned this, they were dismissive and, after the repair, told me to "take it on the freeway for a spin and see what happens." I took it to another shop for a second opinion instead. They immediately found the real problem: the front control arm had failed and my wheel was literally about to fall off. The issue had nothing to do with the exhaust. A mechanic who fails to perform a basic safety inspection and tells you to "see what happens" with a failing front end is not someone who should ever be trusted with your vehicle or your safety.
