I got a quote of $50 from another shop and when I brought it in to Bloomfield Auto Body, they immediately replaced the bulb, refastened my front bumper in a temporary fix until I could afford to get it properly fixed and then refused to charge me. This was human kindness and compassion to the nth degree.. and in a business context yet when those qualities seem to be lacking on a purely human level. The front cup holder was left with full of change (assuming for tolls) as well as an open water jug in the back seat. The back seats came back dirty as well as the cup holders in the rear center. Car is brand new and was used at their leisure during the holidays. Will not recommend or go back here. They seemed nice but using the car for 100 miles was unnecessary especially if the repair was only for body work.

They ignored these critical safety symptoms and diagnosed only a noisy exhaust. When I questioned this, they were dismissive and, after the repair, told me to "take it on the freeway for a spin and see what happens." I took it to another shop for a second opinion instead. They immediately found the real problem: the front control arm had failed and my wheel was literally about to fall off. The issue had nothing to do with the exhaust. A mechanic who fails to perform a basic safety inspection and tells you to "see what happens" with a failing front end is not someone who should ever be trusted with your vehicle or your safety.

My sister and I have been going to Randy for years--and totally trust him. Just bought a new car and plan on bringing it to him, rather than get ripped off again at Subaru service. Just to give a perfect example of Randy's honesty - For the first 5 years we had our Subaru, we brought it back to the Subaru service dept because we mistakenly thought we had to because of the warranty. After 5 years we went back to Randy. 2 years later, we rec'd a recall from Subaru on the airbags so we had to go back to them to have it fixed. While there they did a "multi-point inspection" and gave me a list of things that had to be done (including rear brakes). The list came out to just under $1300. I just listened and smiled, knowing I had an appt with Randy the following week and would see what he had to say. I was pretty sure I was going to need the rear brakes (since Subaru had told me 2 years before that I needed them) but obviously was not sure of the other items. Randy looked over the car and called to say I needed rear brakes. I asked "anything else" and he said nope- just the brakes. Ended up paying UNDER $400 vs $1300 at Subaru!! We don't put much mileage on our cars but bring them to Randy every 6 months for an oil change and check-up anyway knowing he will never tell us we need something done that is not necessary. DO NOT HESITATE to take your car to D&L. Can definitely trust Randy.

For years, my family and I have been harassed by strange women and men in Essex County, NJ. My conclusion: People think I am anti-Italian, which is ridiculous. My parents were/are Italian-American. My mother was lovely and a wonderful parent. Her family was like a Big Hug. Because of sick/crazed women (and men), I have been bullied and harassed with intent for years. I have been called names; women have cited my body to me in a perjorative tone. I have had to file police reports about these strange/sick women harassing me. I have gone to restaurants and other establishment where strangers have gone out of their way to talk about their Italian heritage and/or relatives near me. Great! I love Italian food and Italian culture! Please don't feel compelled to mention Italian food/culture around me to offend me. I love it all. This is what happened as I waited for my husband to pick me up after I dropped off my car. An employee also spelled my name wrong and said something to the effect of, "Of course, that makes sense." And after he got my car model wrong (a co-worker corrected him with the right car model I brought in to get serviced.) It saddens me that I felt so uncomfortable. The team seems knowledgeable and experienced. My husband has volunteered to take my car to Fix N Fuel after my most recent experience with folks.
