I am middle aged but always relied on others to help me with car issues. My car turned off while I was driving and I had no idea what to do. They could have totally taken advantage of me and I would have never known but they didn't. I will use them from this point on, for anything I need. I never write reviews but these guys deserve one. I was about to purchase a car and before I signed the final deal I ask seabreeze to check it out for me. They never use their diagnostic machine it even after I told them that I had a one that showed. cylinder issues. and I explained to them I think that the dealer had cleared the check engine lights. they told me that the car was sound and they charged me $1300 for changing hoses and replacing seals, and brake pads. not even a month after purchasing the car the check engine light came on. I brought it back to them and instead of changing the harness all they did was taped up the harness, and charge me another $1500. I am still having problems with it. They not trustworthy. read more

My wife brought the car (VW GTI) in for an oil change and rotate the tires. She came back and didn't want to tell me how much it cost. The car has been a great running car ever since we've owned it and then after their "service" I noticed that the engine shook on the highway when flooring the gas peddle to pass other cars. Hmmmm. It's never done that before. So I asked my wife what else did they do to the car? it turned out the replaced the temperature sensor, Cabin Filter, spark plugs, and Ignition coils. Why? I have no idea. I do know that the car runs worse than it ever did. The additional parts were a grand total of $468.91. The same or better parts on Amazon would have cost a grand total of $120. We then brought the car back where they kept it for 4 days and never initiated a call to us. We called everyday to try to get a status. They were in the process of telling us it needed more "work" that would cost $1,800. I finally asked for the car back and am going to take it to a VW dealership to find out what it really needs. I will update this review if they say it needs a fuel injection replacement and a Walnut treatment for carbon build up and change it's star rating to reflect the diagnosis. I will also update this rating if I end up having to replace the same parts that Sea Breeze installed. read more

The guys working in the shop a very nice was stuck with a flat tire and had to put the spare on. Unfortunately, the lugs on the custom wheels did not fit the spare tire had to buy five lug nuts from them so which they charge me $143, talk about a rip off. I don't mind paying for anything I get, but this was just plain robbery. I'd like to know what $3.29 in shop supply is when all you are doing is putting on five Lugnuts for a customer stay away from this guy read more

I was recommended this place and it turned out to not he a good Experience. I called to get my mirror fixed , they tell me to come , I get there and they're closed. I finally get it fixed and they don't even paint the mirror to match the other side. It took them a week to get it down and then tried to charge me to paint it after all the unprofessionalism. read more

They told me they could do a state inspection, I scheduled a time and all. They assured me it would take no more than 30 mins. I showed up at the scheduled time, was dragged along for 3 hours only to be told a 2018 car needs to be done at a state facility (still don't know the difference, or why he told me he could do that when I called ahead over the phone). Very confused by the service, I feel like I was taken advantage of. I left my car in their possession during those 3 hours they were supposedly inspecting it. No idea what they could've gone up to in that time. read more

I hate to give this place a bad review, largely because this business has been so good to me for the past few years. But, this latest and last experience was awful. I brought my car here (for the last time) after I hit a tractor trailer tire on I-95. This happened on September 28. I told Sea Breeze what I needed for parts based on my dealer's review of the damage and Sea Breeze concurred with the dealer's assessment of the damage. Sea Breeze said they would order the parts and then call me to set up an appointment once the parts came in. Two weeks passed and still no call from Sea Breeze. So, I called them and supposedly, the parts still hadn't come in. Then two more weeks passed and still no call from Sea Breeze. Like before, I called them and they fed me the same story. This is now late October, one month after I brought my car to Sea Breeze. Then came Hurricane Sandy ... Sea Breeze tried to tell me the reason my parts hadn't come in was because some facility that managed all the orders for Ford parts in the mid-West was affected by the hurricane and lost all the orders. BS. Even if that were true, Hurricane Sandy didn't come until one month AFTER I originally brought my car to Sea Breeze. I kept calling repeatedly in the weeks following the hurricane to check on the status of the parts. Sea Breeze never once called me. I decided November 23 would be the last time I would try calling them before I took my car elsewhere. They claimed the parts came in on November 21, but of course, they never called me to inform me. They agreed to fix my car on November 24. They told me the earlier the better and that they opened at 8 AM. As much as I did not want to do what was convenient for them since I had waited two months, I also just wanted to get my car fixed. So, I dropped my car off at 8 AM. They quoted me less than 2 hours so I went and hung out at the Starbuck's figuring it should definitely be ready by 10 AM. By 11 AM, guess what DIDN'T happen? Yup, you guessed it. I didn't get a phone call from Sea Breeze. So, much like before, it was me calling them ... again. They told me that the car "wasn't quite ready yet, but it should be done in an hour." Taking their word for it, I arrived back at the garage by noon. When I arrived, I was not surprised at all to see that my car hadn't even gone in the garage yet. So, I decided to wait there until my car got fixed, figuring my presence (and impatience) would be enough to get this thing over with once and for all. I waited for about 30 minutes (until 12:30) before they even brought it in the garage. All the while, I was sitting right there when they told me it would be done at noon. Unbelievable. At least by the time my car was done and they gave me the bill, it had only taken them an hour to fix it and the actual price I paid at Sea Breeze was far less than the estimate the dealer gave me. The dealer quoted me over $600 total with parts and labor and Sea Breeze only charged me $350. In hindsight, I'm glad I arrived back to the garage while the car was still sitting outside untouched. Considering I was right there to see when the car went into and out of the garage, there's no way they could have tried to overbill me for the 1 hour worth of labor. They charge $93/hr. so I'm sure they would have tried to charge me for 2 hours based on their original quote had I not been there to witness the repairs ... I digress. This place has traditionally been good to me, but I don't think I can ever go back after this latest fiasco. I sincerely recommend this place if you want decent work done for a much cheaper cost than you would pay at a dealer. But, just be prepared to deal with a lot of lies. read more

I've been a dealer only customer for years, I needed a fix on my car heater blower, I did a quick internet search to be somewhat conversant on it. The dealer could even think about an appointment until end of December or early January. Seabreeze took me the and fixed it the same day!! The kicker is they are literally just around the corner from me, I can walk a block and a half and be there, but I never even gave them a second thought, 'cause as I said I'm a dealer guy, but NOW! My road side assistance selected them to tow my car based on location fix two tires. The next day I called and they had not even looked at the car. Finally at 4:30 I get a call saying the car was ready. I asked what did they do he said installed 2 new tires. I asked the price he said about 300.00. When I picked it up he told me 412.00 total. I disputed the price. And I asked why didn't someone call me upfront to give me a price before hand. I stated it wasn't fare to hike the price. He eventually went down to 365.00. This company wasn't forthcoming with good faith customer service at all. I will never patronize this place. read more

Basically, they will try to profit off the parts. If you bring in your own part, they'll profit by charging you extra service for bringing in your own part. That's what happened with me. They discovered my down pipe had a hole causing my exhaust to be noisy. They quoted me $280 for the down pipe + 1 hr of labor. I found a salvage part for $40 thankfully. I brought it in and they charged me an extra half hour of labor for a customer supplied part. They also didn't realize my exhaust manifold also had a crack until after they installed my down pipe. They told me when I picked up my car. I called them to quote me for an exhaust manifold. I didn't hear from them, so I just ordered my own off Amazon. Two days later, thanks to Amazon Prime, I drop off my car and part. They called me and told me the bad news: the part doesn't fit. No worries. I told them to order the part then. They called me saying they received the part two days later. I schedule to come in first thing in the morning so I can be out an hour later. I show up the next day and see the same box sitting in the waiting area. It's not until then that they tell me they also ended up with the wrong part. More time wasted. Just have the part ready the next day. They call me to tell me no one has the part now and they can only find a junk yard part. I have to come in a couple days afterward. At least it installed. 5 visits and $450 later, I still can't pass inspection. This is after getting my belts and a full tune up from them as well. Unbelievable. Never again. read more

Thank God for Vinnie! My car was making the most awful noise - like a metal stick being dragged behind. Vinnie was able to fix it same-day for a very reasonable price. I also like that he stocks the Continental tire brand, and is able to order Toyota parts if I want. I don't have a strong opinion on different brands but it's nice to know there's an option. The place is walking distance from my apartment and everyone was very nice and knowledgeable. We're planning to replace the struts soon - and when I checked he definitely goes by the industry standard for products. I'm highly satisfied with the workmanship and the pricing - but Saturdays are extremely busy, so plan accordingly, the car won't be done immediately. Still, for such nice work, it's not bad to have to take a walk in the springtime while waiting for your car. read more

As the fleet manager for a local construction company, I need my trucks fixed fast and the 1st time. Seabreeze satisfies both of those needs on a regular basis. Inspections, Tires, Front End Work, Suspension Work, Etc we have pretty much had them do it all for us. Vinnie takes care of us very well and the price is not bad at all. I'd rather go to a real shop that is constantly packed with cars, then try to save a few pennies. If a mechanic shop isn't busy then it probably isn't any good. read more

I had disappointing experience with them for the past 2 visits. First time I brought my car there was for a simple oil change. He said it would take about an hour, ended up waiting at the local diner for 2 1/2 hours until they called. This past visit, I specifically told them, that I had an important engagement, and asked whether or not my car would be done in time before that, he assured me it would. I returned 2 hours later, and they didn't even look at it yet! These guys have a serious time management problem. This was my last visit. I would not recommend unless you have half a day to kill. read more

Brought my car in back in March for some work along with an oil change. Just the the other day I changed the oil myself and noticed that the filter that was on the car was marked from December! So it appears I was charged for an oil change with filter but not given one. Disappointing. read more

I brought my car in for an oil change and they did a tire alignment without my requesting it or agreeing to it. When they detailed my car, they subbed it out to another shop, whose employees stole about $150 worth of stuff out of my car. When I called and complained they said they would get my stuff back but after stopping in several times to get my belongings they never had them. Also, when I went to pick up my car they said it was parked around the corner, but it wasn't and I had to use my tracking device to find it several blocks away. I have been coming to seabreeze for the past few years and have to say that the prices here are very reasonable. Vinnie has always been very proffesional and curteous and always explains in detail the work they do in your car. My wife and i have brough in both our cars for repairs and have been very satisfiied, and even when i once had a little dispute about a charge vinnie was able to resolve the issue and even gave me money back as a result of the misunderstanding. This review is my 2-part nightmare with Sea Breeze Auto which took place over a period of 6+ visits. And you're warned - PART 2 IS FAR WORSE than Part 1. Let me start with this - my car is a 1995 1.6L Toyota Corolla - so there's nothing technical here - it's about the simplest machine that can be worked on outside of a lawn mower engine. YET, it would seem that it's not so easy for the Sea Breeze guys. Part 1 started in summer '16 when I formed an exhaust leak. I needed a header and a flexpipe (which I purchased before having the repair done). First visit I got the car back with an exhaust leak at the header. Brought it back and it turned out that the header wasn't seated properly against the header gasket. They fixed that and within a few days, a plug that was screwed into the header fell out, creating a HUGE exhaust leak. I brought it back and they welded a screw into the hole. Immediately after that, I had to bring it back AGAIN because the flex pipe that they installed was too close to the underside of the car and was rattling / vibrating like hell through various RPMs. After its 3rd visit, that was all finally worked out. I don't think it should have taken 3 visits to have part of an exhaust properly installed on an old Corolla, but again, NOT the worst work they've done to my car. That's in Part 2: This winter the car died on me after a sudden power loss (spark or fuel issue, obviously). I had it towed to Sea Breeze and left a detailed note telling them what the car did and DIRECTING THEM TO CALL ME and let me know what's wrong with the car. Rather than doing that, they did a repair (distributor) which they quoted me $475 on. I was FURIOUS. The car is probably worth $500 on a good day - for $475 I would have literally junked the car - but they didn't call me before they did the work, so now I had to pay to get the car back. Luckily I dealt with Bill the day I was going to pick the car up (the other guy in charge who doesn't smirk at you and blow smoke the way Vinny does) and he deducted the labor cost and just charged me for the part. HERE'S WHERE IT GETS WORSE - Less than a week after the distributor install, the car broke down again - EXACT SAME SYMPTOMS (which tell me that the distributor didn't need to be done). Brought the car back and they did spark plug wires (free of charge) and told me the car was good to go. About a week later, the check engine light came on and IT BROKE DOWN AGAIN! SAME SYMPTOMS! This time I was able to get it started and crawl it over to the shop being that I was actually less than 2 miles away. I told them that the car IS NOT FIXED and they insisted that the distributor was the original problem. Regardless of whether or not the car ever needed a distributor, it was undoubtedly still not fixed. I left the car with them for the 3rd time since this problem started and called periodically to see if it was ready and Vinny told me that they were "driving the car as much as they could every day to try and get it to act up for them so they can figure out what's wrong." They drove the car for 8 DAYS before I decided to finally just go and get it back. BUT I'M STILL NOT AT THE BEST PART!!!!! I go to pick the car up after 8 days and nothing being fixed - Vinny gives me the keys and I DIDN'T EVEN GET OFF THE STREET IT WAS PARKED ON before I had to turn around and bring it back. This time there was a HUGE exhaust leak (which didn't exist when I brought it in since the original exhaust repairs). When I tossed Vinny the keys back, I was informed that one of the techs destroyed my flex pipe when he bottomed out pulling my car off of one of the old lifts. YET they were just gonna let me take the car and see if I'd notice? Nice. So the car sat there for another few days while they installed another flex pipe. I went to pick the car up - Bill (again, the better person of the 2 to deal with at Sea Breeze) told me I was all set and handed me my keys. I got in, started the car - check engine light is still on (no diagnosis or explanation from them and no solution to the original problem that I brought it there for in the first place) AND the exhaust is hitting the bottom of my car and rattling around / making a TON of noise during both acceleration AND when it idles I'm not bringing it back. At this point I'm being messed with and screwed around because they're not happy about the fact that they keep having to look at / fix my car for free. Of course the irony is that if they would have just fixed my car the first time, it would have never been back for no-charge follow-up visits AND they would have kept a customer. At this point they're going to loose about 5 customers total (including my family members who have been going there and 1 referral outside of the family). I would not recommend bringing your car here for any reason. read more

Since 7/31/12, I spent $4,124.75 in this shop. I bought new tires at Firestone-they advised me that they could not do an alignment until the loose left ball joint was repaired. Rather then have them do it, I brought it to Sea Breeze for the repair. When I brought it back to Firestone, they advised me that the RIGHT ball joint had been replaced. Dropped it off at Sea Breeze once more. When I picked it up, they were charging me all over again. When I told them that I had paid for the left and they had done the right, they insisted that the correct ball joint had been replaced (without checking with me-I would have called Firestone to consult). They then told me that the only reason they did the left one was that I asked them to do it-that it was fine (again, never consulting me-I would have contacted Firestone). With reluctance they credited me for one of the joint replacements, but I won't be back. Until this point I had been pleased, not cheap by any means, but solid work. Would like to add that Vinnie left a message for me today that he saw my review here and did not appreciate it. How professional is that? read more

i've brought my Pontiac G6 here twice in the past month or two. the first time was for brake work and an oil change. i checked my tires before going and noticed the fronts should probably be replaced, but didn't mention it when i dropped off the car. my inspection was also like 8 months overdue (oops, lulz) - didn't mention that either. when Vinnie (cool, honest dude) called me to tell me what was up with the brakes, he mentioned the front tires, and gave me a good deal on some replacements. i appreciate the fact that (like most spots) he didn't try to manipulate me into buying the same brand/model tires that were on there (those were over-priced and fuhgetabout traction in the rain) and that he didn't try to urge me to replace all four (like a lot of places do) either - i was actually expecting both of those things to happen and very pleased they didn't. he also mentioned the inspection sticker (so glad he reminded me,) and for $50 it was worth it to me to not put off going to the DMV any longer - even though the DMV is free - but hey, time is money, right? this place is Goodyear affiliated so you can use your Goodyear card if you have one. this was the main reason i came here. the first visit i had over $1000 in charges so i automatically got the 1 year same-as-cash deal for putting it on the card. i've been to other actual Goodyear spots where they'll leave that benefit out if you don't know about it, but once again Vinnie was forthright with this info. i feel good knowing i have this spot to go to if i know i'm gonna need to use my Goodyear card, and i trust the guys here. read more

I was tempted to give these guys 3 stars (they are not cheap) and also 5 (service is the best) so I split the difference. They use quality parts and it's not like they are over-charging for their time/service. These guys know what they are doing and that's what counts. Not only that but you get service with a smile. It's not the typical business where people are there just to punch a clock. You get the sense that they enjoy working with each other and helping their customers. My only real complaint is when it comes time to pick up your car. Unless you are very aggressive you can end up waiting almost an hour if it's busy. Even when your car is already done. If they were ready to ring up a customer as soon as he/she walks in that would make Seabreeze 5 stars for sure. read more

If anyone ever has a problem in the Bloomfield area, I can't recommend this place enough. Bill, who runs the place, WALKED to me when my car broke down several blocks away, pushed my car out of the drive up bank so I wouldn't be stuck in the car, and got my car running again. When I dropped it off to get fixed - because my car is possessed by something that dwells near the 9th circle of hell - he drove me home so I wouldn't have to walk or take a cab. The other workers there also know their stuff. I've brought my car in half a dozen times for a variety of reasons - see above about possession - and each time they fix it without a problem. They take their time explaining the problem in terms I can understand and explain the costs. read more
