I called this place on a Wednesday afternoon/night as my tire kept losing air and I didn't know if it was because it had a hole in it or if it was the sensor that was the problem. Even though I called at 5 PM and they were busy, with only one tech left for the day, the guy offered to put air in my tire and to take a look at my car first thing in the morning. I went in right away and as soon as he saw my tire and how anxious I was about it, he made room to fix it. It was an incredibly anxious experience for me since I've never gotten a flat and I'm not very car savvy, but the tech made it incredibly seamless and reassured me that everything was going to be OK. He was able to patch my tire within 30 minutes . Even though I had called multiple other auto bodies in the area, the only one who was willing to take me in that late and do something about it was this place. Brought my car here because I had a slow leak and nail in the tire. When I called and asked if they could plug the tire they said they don't plug they patch from the inside. Don't personally care how the sausage is made but whatever. Brought the car in and left it there. They called me 10 minutes before closing to let me know the tire could not be repaired and needed to be replaced. When I pushed back stating it was a nail nowhere near the sidewall and the quintessential candidate for a repair they put me on hold. I knew they were never coming back so I went over and got there minutes before closing. Car was still up on a jack. I asked that they put the tire back on and return the car to me. I noticed while they were doing it the tire was in fact plugged. The person helping me stated there was still a slow week and they recommend replacing the tire for $600. You should never bring your car here. Not only did we receive terrible customer service, but they also did not change oil correctly. The cap was never put on or secured, and oil is now all over our car, which is causing us to inhale fumes and having to pay $$$ at another place to fix their mistake. They will not claim responsibility, and we had to file a claim through corporate. Also, of note, when we wanted to escalate the problem through this location, they wanted us to print out a form and give to them to send to corporate. Went here for a new battery. The guy tries to sell me about everything else. New tires, an alternator, etc. I told him I only had money for a battery and he said "that's okay, don't pay anything today... we have a credit card!". Thanks... but no thanks. He continued to write me up a price to check my battery for $28. When I told him I thought it was free, he said he wants to check everything else as well. I declined that service. So my first warning is that If you go, make sure you're paying attention. They are trying to take advantage of people here. I went here because online it said it would be $135 plus installation (starts at $15). I have no idea why my car wasn't entitled to get it for $15, even though I typed my make into the online price quoter. Either way, it came to $30 for the installation. With tax the whole thing came to about $170. Gieco also gives a 5% discount if you have them. Not happy with this place. I sure wouldn't come back. read more

DO NOT GO HERE. Went in for routine brake service, came out with a grinding noise from front left that I kept calling them and coming back to complain about. They insisted it was a coating on the rotors and it would wear off. Noise got worse. And all I got was arguing from them as well as them trying to sell me wheel bearings. I took it to my dealer to get it checked out. They said the noise was coming from the brakes. I told Firestone to replace the brakes again, and they said they would. I doubt they actually did because when I picked my car up the noise was even worse. I took it to another mechanic and found out that the caliper clip was bent outward and had been scraping against the inside of my wheel rim. THAT was the noise. So much scraping that there are deep grooves in my rim. Firestone's mechanics didn't see that bent clip, didn't care, and actually made it that way in the first place, and THEN argued with me about what was causing the noise. This was the worst experience getting my car serviced I have ever had. read more

Don't even get yourself aggravated. I made an appointment on the firestone website to have two new tires. When you make the online appointment you select the tires you want, you pick the location and you pick the time you want to come in. They give you the total cost with the installation. When I get there they try to sell me tires that are double the amount of the ones I ordered . I tell them I want the tires I ordered online, he says " we don't have those in stock. They screwed up royally with my car. They didn't fill up the oil all the way. After getting an oil change my engine system tells me I'm only at 75% oil filled up. I take it to a different Firestone and they noticed the idiots at Montclair entered the wrong model in the system which is why they didn't put in the right amount of oil. Just stupid and lazy of them to not simply enter the VIN to get the right specs. They also forgot to rotate tires when I pay them to. Awful workers and lazy management. Firestone down the shore was much more reliable but in Montclair it's awful. read more

Dropped my car off for a basic service, drove it home down the street, parked in my garage woke up and my hubcap was gone. I contacted the garage and "after reviewing the tapes" they told me they put it back on. So from my drive down the street my hubcap randomly fell off. First time in 5 years? I would avoid this one. Had a full break job done on my Jeep a ways back. Drove away and immediately started hearing an awful grinding noise. Took it back and evidently they had either forgot to properly secure a part or something had been bent during the work. Either way, completely unacceptable. Well, a year later the brakes were fading again. I took it to a real mechanic who showed me the shoddy work that had been done and got me fixed up. I had a scheduled appointment for a 12 o'clock oil change, and they did not even take my car in till 12:40. The said that appointments last 60-90 minutes, but they schedule them for every hour. I went to firestone on Saturday April 3 to get my check engine light checked out. I told the Manager - Marty - that my car engine smelled of antifreeze and the light came on while driving to work the day before and I had called to bring it in. He told me $99 and i asked if i can avoid the $99 fee or if it would be refunded if they fix the issue. He said no. I then left my car. About 4:00pm in the afternoon, Marty called to tell me that I need to take the car to an engine shop because it seems like the head gasket was blown. Upon arrival to pick up the car, I learned that it was $114, $7 for shop supplies and the only thing listed on the report was "engine smelled of antifreeze" - exactly what I had told him. Futhermire, firestone had a coupon for diagnostic check which could have saved me $114. So I took my car to Firestone for 7 years until the engine blow out and even in the end they couldn't be generous and perform a check that was free without charging me. I'll never forget this place taking advantage of a vulnerable customer. They charged me over a thousand dollars for a fuel filter on a 2007 Crown Victoria. Assuming because the car was towed in and couldn't move. Figured he had us by the balls. This was a few years ago, maybe it's changed management, maybe not. Not the best branch. I brought my baby in for alignment as it had a slight pull to the right. It took 1.5hours for an alignment. When done, I asked for the printout of the before/after values. There were a couple values still in the red. I asked the SA why these weren't adjusted and he said "they were, but the tech bumped the sensor at the end. It's aligned even though the computer says it's not". I took his word for it, paid and drove off. After a few minutes of driving, I called back and said it's better but it's still pulling to the right at higher speeds. He made another appointment to bring it back in the next day. I brought it back but this time, the tech asked if he can test drive it before he realigned it. He drove and I sat shotgun. He admitted it still pulled and agreed to realigning it. An hour goes by and the tech approaches me, hands me the keys and says "it's aligned as much as it can be". Again I asked for the printout. All values were in the green and I thanked him. Driving out of the parking lot I noticed the pull was worse than what it was before I first brought it in. I had to steer 10 degrees to the left to go straight. I called back, and the SA says "there's nothing more we can do. It's aligned!". I called corporate to complain and they schedule me to go to a different branch in Jersey City. They were very friendly and accommodating. The SA checked tread wear and tire pressure before handing the keys to the tech. 45mins later, tech hands me the keys, smiles and says "it finally drives straight". And that it did. I asked for the printout and the values from Montclair were way off despite their printout saying they were good. Different computer maybe? It took the JC branch 45mins to do what the Montclair branch couldn't in two days. If the drive is feasible, go to the Jersey City Firestone on 139 instead. This place is full of miscommunication and upselling, and won't be getting another cent from me despite being less than a tenth of a mile from my house. I've come here for oil changes and tires for three years, and had Scheduled brakes and rotors to be replaced today. I spoke to Marty yesterday and told Him that I've already had the brake inspection at Firestone, and I KNOW, and THEY KNOW, what work is needed. I had already received an estimate from them. I dropped the car off last night and left the keys, with explicit instructions on the envelope, and at 2:40 pm today, I received a call saying that they had just performed the brake inspection and generated a quote- both things that had already been done at their shop. They didn't bother to notate that I had an appointment, had already had the inspection and quote, nor had they looked at my account. I'm now in the waiting room waiting for them to put my tires back on and I will get the work done elsewhere. I would give them negative stars if I could. I've been a long time customer of theirs. I never got anything too involved done there, but always went there for tires, alignment, oil changes, and brake service. A couple months ago I heard a squealing sound when I hit the brakes, so I brought it to Firestone to have it looked at. Technician Wayne Lutwiniak supposedly checked my brakes. Bobby the service provider said there were "plenty of pads left", but the sound was because I needed a new lower-front left ball joint. The next day I brought it in and had them replace the ball joint. Yes I am an idiot for believing them about my brake pads, I should have gotten a second opinion. A couple weeks ago I started hearing metal on metal when I hit the brakes. I took the car to a different mechanic and found out that the pads were completely gone and that I needed new calipers as well. So what could have been probably $100-$150 to replace the pads turned into $580. So, this is how Firestone treats a customer of more than ten years. First let me start by saying that I never write reviews. I took my truck here because A/c not working. 1. They told me leak was "so small they could not find it". 2. They charged it with freon and charged $300. 3. they said if I had any problems to bring it back because they had put in freon with dye. 4. There are signs everywhere that say "if they do not fix it right the first time they will fix it again at no charge" As soon as i left, I turn on the A/c and only one side worked. I call them up and they said no problem bring it back and we will take care of it. 2 weeks later I bring it back and they tell me they need to replace condensor and add freon again.the cost would be $700. I ask why I have to pay for freon again when it was not fixed right the first time and they tell me the policy is not on A/c repairs. I left and figured it was a $300 lesson. I took it to a local mechanic. He looked at the truck and said there was nothing wrong with the condensor. There was a line leaking. Changed line, filled with freon total cost $157. I would not recommend Firestone in Montclair and would never go back. read more

Wow, worst auto-care experience ever... Had seen more professional behavior at Lantas Usadas in Brownsville Texas! Sales-writer tried to overcharge the internet quote price by 25%. Tried to indicate that there is a state law requiring a TPMS repair kit. They kept my OEM valve caps. Damaged the body of the car by lifting from the weld-seams as opposed to the support frame (as shown in the Factory Service Manual). Best yet: The fawqtards put armor-all on tire-treads of the tires. So much armor all that the they couldn't get the car off the lift and pulled burn-outs for five minutes trying! Total losers; if you want a bad experience and need your car returned with damage this is the place to go. read more

We have used these guys a few times, most recently when we broke down the first week back to school. I broke down on the GSP because the clutch went. We had no idea how much it would be and we didn't have any money(my husband is a teacher&they do not get paid anything in the summer in Jersey: can you imagine?) We were towed here by a police tow to get me off the GSP and then we got the bill for service. It was $22, it was just a loose screw. The service i received here was phenomenal! Chain establishments are a hit-or-miss, but i'd recommend this Firestone Location to anyone! After blowing out a tire on the New Jersey Turnpike, the very kind tow truck driver found this spot for me. My car was PACKED, as i was traveling across country (from Texas). It was me, my retired mother, 2 cats, a 90 lb. dog, and 3 months worth of clothes. The service technicians were very understanding when i told them what we were working with. I unloaded my trunk in their parking lot, took the dog & mom inside, and left the car running for the 2 cats. David volunteered to drive my car in & out of the bay, as he is not allergic to cats and even likes them. Although they were down a mechanic and behind schedule, he also did the car repairs himself, to expedite the process, so as to not leave the cats in the car with the engine off longer than needed. DO NOT TAKE YOUR CAR THERE!!!! I took my BMW to the Firestone located in Montclair New Jersey for a simple tire patch, oil change, and rotation. After leaving my car there for 7 hours, to my frustration and disappointment, my car had none of the following services done. Mind you, I was called by a Firestone representative saying that my car was fixed and ready to go without any setbacks. Once I arrive to pick up the vehicle and pay for my ticket of $130, everything seemed okay until I started to drive it. My flat tire light was still lit and my tire was on the ground. I called Firestone about the situation which I was then told that they patched what they saw and never performed a tire rotation. I took my car to a different mechanic after which then revealed that my tire had 5 holes. I couldn't understand how Firestone employees couldn't see that and failed to inform me and only patched one of the 5 holes. The following day my driveway had a significant amount of oil droplets. I was concerned and took it back to my mechanic, they revealed to me that the oil tank was overfilled by 2 full quarts and led to the gasket bursting. My mechanic suggested I take it to BMW to be seen by a specialist and be evaluated considering the Severity of the amount of oil that was spilling out. I took my car to Firestone for simple maintenance and a patch, and ended up with a bill of 1,679. I have evidence from videos that the specialists from BMW took for me. Firestone still went ahead and charged me the $130 knowing that none of the services that I paid for were done or done properly. The rotation was never done, one hole was patched, and the oil change led to a huge dilemma. They had promised me a refund and I still have not received it. The person that I spoke to for this refund was the manager of the location named Cesar. The claims department are also refusing to pay because I took my car to BMW to get fixed. I freaking love this Firestone location. I used to go to the one in Orange, NJ (where the service was pretty good, not top notch), but I moved to Clifton so I started coming to the one in Montclair. Most people sit around at the mechanic waiting for hours for their cars to be serviced. Though that may happen sometimes (this is an extremely busy location), it's not so bad. The staff is so courteous, helpful, kind and entertaining!! They go out of their way to make you comfortable and do what they can to work with your price range. Highly recommend. read more

Went in for an oil change and they forgot to put the oil cap back on. I was driving around for a week before i noticed something was wrong. Engine compartment is now covered in oil. It's unsatisfactory if you have to double check their work. They also left my radio unit pushed into the console. Now I'm hesitant to get anything else done by them. read more

No one ever gave us an update and when I asked to speak to the manager as I left didn't seem to care and said I was given an estimate.
