Went to the dealership (the one next town over) for a simple oil change. Within an hour I get text with a video from the dealership recommending $7000 worth of work. I of course declined and told them to just finish the oil change but when I picked up the car, you bet I drove straight to Montclair Motorwerks from there. Ken and his team took a look at the vehicle and while some of the repairs recommended by the dealership were legitimate, others weren't really needed. The honesty was refreshing. Turned out the vehicle did need some extensive work (thanks Dad). The car was ready within a few days and the price (which was still in the four figures to reflect the scope of the work done) was a fraction of what the dealership would have charged. Additionally I was very careless in leaving something extremely valuable in the vehicle. One of the technicians found it and turned it over to Frankie for safe keeping. Anybody with questionable morals could have taken it and I wouldn't have known. When I picked up the car, it was there for me and while I was of course embarrassed, I was grateful. I'm under no impression that BMWs are cheap vehicles to own and maintain. They aren't. But the high degree of trust I gained from my first encounter with Ken, Frankie an their team made Montclair Motorwerks my go-to since then.

I'm going to attribute that to them probably being on their lunch break. But after they returned my call I had no doubt I had found a keeper! I had arranged with Dennis to drop off my car in the morning and they would call me after they checked it out. First of all, they said I needed a new exhaust, new front tires and new front brakes and calipers. They said whoever had done my exhaust last (Agolia & Sons, BP) had performed a patch up job! For the nearly same price Agolia charged me for a "new exhaust", I got 2 front tires, new brakes and a new exhaust! Before I went to Fix N Fuel, I was thinking of buying a new car because I didn't feel safe in it. But now I feel I have my "baby" back. She may be over 300k miles, but she's running like a dream! The guys at Fix N Fuel were honest, reliable and for the quality of their work, charge very reasonable prices. It is a huge weight off my shoulders knowing I NOW have mechanics that I can trust and count on. I highly recommend this business!

This shop's negligence put my life in danger…read more I had my car towed to Park Street Automotive with clear symptoms of a critical suspension failure: a violent lurch to the left when braking, a loud rumbling, and a worsening steering wobble. They ignored these critical safety symptoms and diagnosed only a noisy exhaust. When I questioned this, they were dismissive and, after the repair, told me to "take it on the freeway for a spin and see what happens." I took it to another shop for a second opinion instead. They immediately found the real problem: the front control arm had failed and my wheel was literally about to fall off. The issue had nothing to do with the exhaust. A mechanic who fails to perform a basic safety inspection and tells you to "see what happens" with a failing front end is not someone who should ever be trusted with your vehicle or your safety.
