There were complications with my closing date, so I couldn't decide to go with a mover until two days before the move-in date. I was honestly expecting responses like "Sorry you will need to arrange an appointment in x days advance" . To my pleasant surprise, Joe told me he would do his best to gather his folks, went over details of his business model, and walked me through the details of my preparation. He also gave me a low down on the cost and how Strongmile charges, so no surprise. That evening, he got me the team. Two days later, Adam and his team showed up at the agreed Uhaul location EXACTLY on time. In addition, instead of the agreed team of two, three men arrived. They were friendly and very nice, but the best part was the actual loading. These guys were hella fast!!! I left couple boxes unsealed and my computer intact, thinking I could finish them up while the Strongmile team disassemble my furniture. Wrong~! I almost couldn't keep up. I felt like I was dragging the whole process (so yes guys, please pack everything unless you think you can out-move them). The team also advised on items that could go into the truck and ones that should go into my car, and was very considerate of my stuff. The whole trip was smooth, and the unloading was equally fast. At the end there were no surprise on the fee. Everything was exactly how Joe told me. I had a great moving experience, and yes, I will work with Strongmile again, and highly recommend them. It is real simple, these guys are awesome! My wife and I were stressed about moving our 4 bedroom house, two kids and two dogs. We called Strongmile to assist with unloading our moving truck in NJ once we arrived from Florida. Most places we had called quoted $500-600 for the same service, we were told around $280 (including taxes)with Strongmile. With as much money as we were spending on moving here, we could not afford the other companies, and honestly there is no way those other companies could have done as great of a job as the Strongmile guys did. What would have taken my husband and myself 3-4hrs, they did in 30-40 min of the 2hr minimum. The guys were so kind and mindful of our belongings and even went the extra mile to help us assemble the furniture. It required 4 moves to different locations at different times. One such trip was to NYC where my sofa and dining room table could not fit into the elevator. We just recently moved to a new house. My husband found these movers based on the amazing reviews on Yelp and decided to call them up, they were super professional on the phone (my husband is not easy to please) and their follow-up email is very detailed. Our team the day of the move was Casper, Bobby and Danny. They were right on time meeting my husband at the U-Haul rental location then got to work right away in the morning and was so efficient moving all of our boxes and wrapping our furniture. We had a TV stand that actually was difficult to get through the door and down the elevator because of it's size but somehow they managed to do it without any damage and that alone deserved a five star rating. But in addition to that, they encouraged us to take a look at everything once we they finished moving our stuff to the new house to make sure they didn't damage anything. They were so careful around tight corners and up stairs, you can tell these men knew what they were doing. They made sure everything was where we wanted it and if we changed our minds (which we did a few times) they happily moved our stuff again with no complaints. I really didn't think our move was going to be that fast considering the amount of stuff we had. Bottom line - we would use them again in a heartbeat, we would recommend them to anyone and everyone needing movers, they deserved every dollar of tip we gave them AND the coffee and donuts. We've moved locally in state, from NJ to NC, houses to apartments, ect. We both agree that this was by far the best and least stressful move we've ever done. Not impressed at all. They sent 3 guys, only one of them worked hard. One had a cold and took a lot of breaks for smoking. We covered some of our stuff in plastic wrap and expected them to do the rest, but they didn't, even though we provided the material. Some of the furniture was damaged because it was not protected properly. We had a much better experience with the movers in California. I cannot overstate how much I appreciate these movers. I had the worst experience with movers in my life (and I have moved a lot). I'm new to Jersey and my previous mover (cross country moving and storage) refused to finish the move because the mover started a yelling match with my neighbor. So, he refused to put my stuff where I paid extra to have it placed and refused to put my furniture back together. Enter Brian and Dylan. They came the NEXT DAY. They were early and incredibly nice and helpful. They put everything where I needed it to go and put my furniture together. They kept checking in, asking if I was sure I didn't need anything else. Tonight will be my first one in more than two weeks with my bed off of the floor. I really, really appreciated Brian and Dylan's helpfulness and professionalism. If/when I move again (I have way too much post-traumatic stress disorder to even consider such a thing, but I'm renting so it will happen some day), they will be my first and only call. read more

Latest update. 8/4/14 I am updating my review to reflect fives stars for Joseph's (the owner) customer service. He personally reached out to me to ask what his company could do to earn an excellent rating, and I gave him my feedback. The important take away is that the clock starts at the Uhaul store (for pickup) and ends at the Uhaul store (for dropoff) if the customer chooses that option. If you want to save time/money, it is better for the customer to pickup and dropoff the truck themselves. My original review and comments are unedited below. ----------- Four stars for quality of the moving work. Three stars for value. Let me explain. I had two movers (Rob and Dave) who showed up 20 minutes late due to traffic. I rented a 17 foot Uhaul truck in my name. They were good workers who did exactly as I asked them. They were very professional and courteous. I had a 1BR which they loaded into 17 foot UHaul, drive within complex (two minute walk) and unload. I had elevators both ways. Everything was pretty much packed. They disassembled the top off my dining table and put my queen mattresses in plastic bags. In my opinion, this company is expensive, but you do get dependable, professional workers. For example, I had a $60 travel fee (first time ever hearing of this). Be clear as to when they start the clock. By my clock they started moving (after parking the moving truck) at 3:15 but they had a start time of 3PM (never confirmed to me). Rob confirmed with me a finish time of 7:10PM. So I was working with a four hour job, but by their clock it was 4 hours and 10 minutes so they rounded up to 4.5 hours. A bit of fuzzy math. And then there is tipping on top of this. I believe there are cheaper, effective movers out there, but with this company you pay a premium for the confidence factor (they won't damage stuff). Note that I am comparing to my multiple recent moving experiences in SoCal where labor may be cheaper. 8/4/14 My response to the owner of Strongmile Movers. I took copious notes from my initial phone call with Joseph S., the owner of Strongmile, and stand by my initial review (which is unedited above). Here are additional facts. I understand the broad time window for the afternoon period. Strongmile was late because Rob called me to say he hit traffic on the 206 and instead of meeting at 2PM at the Uhaul he said to meet him at 2:30. I came at 2:30 as I was told. He came at 2:50. I wasted 20 minutes of my time waiting for him, when Strongmile could have notified me to come later. So it is not unfair for me to say Strongmile was late. There is "fuzzy math" because I was never told that the start time begins at the Uhaul. Or else I would have picked up the truck myself. Why would I pay for someone's time to pick up the truck when the Uhaul place is five minutes from me? Strongmile specifically said that truck dropoff is a courtesy (oddly, this differs from your posted comments). Strongmile never told me that they start the clock at the Uhaul (I did not check the written estimate; I trusted my phone call with Joseph). I asked twice if there is a fee associated with Strongmile picking up and dropping off the Uhaul truck and Joseph said no. I see that is technically correct, but according to his post, the customer pays for the time involved! That was not made clear to me. That is a distinction without a difference. I essentially paid for the pickup. And Rob did not confirm starting time (while he did confirm ending time)--as all other movers I have worked with in the past have. It is the first time I have heard of a travel fee as standard practice. That may be the case, but when I hired movers in Princeton before, they did not charge me a travel fee. read more

We hired Strongmile Movers to do a 2 hour loading of a Uhaul from a 2nd floor apartment. I did the unloading at my new apartment. Bobby and Chase were the guys who came to help. They were both amazing, professional and funny! They were extremely efficient and finished in under an hour (was expected but the company has a two hour minimum). They did a great job wrapping the furniture, securing the load in the truck and being communicative on things like where they tucked the tv to make sure it was safest. I arrived at the second location with zero issues and everything in the same exact place they loaded it. I WILL DEFINITELY BE USING STRONGMILE again in the future. My move took place during the COVID19 stay at home order. I know it's tough not only going to work during this time but touching other people's stuff that you don't know. I'm going to be totally candid in this review... I found these guys in a Google search while waiting for recommendations on a Facebook post I put up. Had it not been for an acquaintance I trust and respect on FB recommending them, I would have passed. Here's why. First (and sorry Joe), Joe (the owner I'm pretty sure) sounds a little like a used car salesman. He's got his pitch down good, and that sometimes makes me a little mistrustful. When I was told they don't have trucks and I had to actually rent one as it's part of how they've been doing business for years - I would have been done with them. But again, I trusted my friend's recommendation. Joe told me I didn't have to drive the truck (but could if I wanted to save time and money), just meet them there to sign and pay for it. Finally, and no joke here, I was told that the two guys who were going to meet me at the U Haul place were named Rob and Chase. LOL, think about that for a second. Anyhow... I followed through, and sent a deposit. On the day of the move I couldn't be there and had to send someone else to meet them. There was no problem with that whatsoever. In short, they did EVERYTHING they said they would as laid out in the confirmation email, showed up on time, did an impeccable job and though I wasn't there I was told by my parents and brother (the ones who did the moving) that the entire experience was a pleasure! They were more than happy with the service and the people! Last but definitely not least, the final cost (which was estimated in the email) fell right in what I was quoted. That price was also half the price that some other moving companies had quoted me. I would absolutely without a moments hesitation call on these guys again! There are 100% no surprise fees. He offers a fair price (one of the lower non shady estimates I received). I arrived at Uhaul and my truck was there and everything was taken care of. I just had to pay for the truck and wait for Brian, Casper, and Dylan. BTW, the owner of the Uhaul location RAVED about how amazing they were and how I would be done moving quickly and ahead of schedule because they are so good. Fantastic movers, great business model, all around good guys. The business model is smart for you - get a UHaul, hire these guys, save money. We moved once in 2014, used them then, when we moved again this year I didn't even call anyone else. The local UHaul loves them so much they hooked me up with free stuff I needed. Joe was great at getting back to me and even visited both houses on either end of the job to make sure we had the right size team and trucks. The guys were all very polite, very careful movers with great attitudes. They packed the trucks very carefully, which was awesome since I had to drive them and I was confident my stuff was OK. They even helped me load stuff at the new place up into the eaves of my garage, carefully arranging my boxes one layer deep with labels facing out, just like I asked. Couldn't ask for better, was happy to tip them like crazy at the end and buy them lunch. I had to take pictures of them for my kids to see they were really there; they were so fast we were done by the time the kids got back from preschool! I used Strongmile for my move on the strength of the unusually high number of 5-star reviews they have on Yelp, and I'm now adding yet another one. This was the smoothest, most efficient, professional and well-executed move I've ever had, and for a great price too. The other reviews cover a lot of the details so I will emphasize a couple different things that really stood out to me: (1) The movers really are very courteous and professional. They dress in uniforms, maintain a professional appearance, are very friendly and just great guys . My team (Rob, Frank, Big J and Little J) were all really excellent. They worked hard and fast, were really nice to my wife, and just got the job done with no fuss. (2) Joe does a really great job of preparing you. He goes through every minute detail, and it really helps keep the move smooth and costs down. I also like how he kept repeating what seems to be the company motto: "hard working and humble, kind and courteous." They really live up to it. (3) The team really goes above and beyond, and does a lot of things they don't technically have to do just to make your experience better. This included things like helping me get the 24-ft truck in place (I wasn't comfortable with reversing that behemoth), taking extra extra care with our walls and hardwood floor, reinstalling, arranging and then rearranging the furniture in our bedroom to make it easier for us, and a full cleanup afterwards to take all the shrink wrap, blankets, etc and discard them. This is the second time we've used Strongmile and once again they've by far EXCEEDED OUR EXPECTATIONS! From the beginning of the process, working with Joe to schedule everything all the way until they completed the move, was seamless and perfectly executed. They made a day that could have been stressful and difficult become much easier. Joe is great to work with and explains everything to you in detail. He also is spot on when booking the truck with U-Haul from the size required to the number of furniture blankets needed to protect your items. The day of the move, Brian, Casper, and Dylan had completed a job earlier than they expected and called to see if we would like them to come and get an early head start. They came exactly at the time that we agreed. Once they started they really work with your things as if it is their own and at an amazingly fast pace. They completed the whole process in 4 hours. They do not drag or slam anything and are extremely careful maneuvering around your home. That even included when we asked them to change the arrangement of the furniture in a few of the rooms in the new house because we changed our minds around the setup after it was put in place. These guys are great. They helped us move across town seamlessly, even as our move out conditions were not ideal (our house was next to a tennis court which had JUST been resurfaced, so rather than wheeling things through the tennis court, they had to CARRY everything around the tennis court, making things a lot harder on them). In spite of that, they managed to get us into our new place quickly, and they were great to work with the whole way through. Highly recommend, great people, very professional. They also took apart and reassembled a bunch of our stuff for us, which made our lives much easier. I was really hoping that this experience would have been better, with the amount of prep work that went into the move and the walk-through that occurred with the manager - but this experience was so disappointing. We went through the bidding process by submitting the online form, then confirmed everything with the company via phone - we needed the movers to load a POD, as it was being transported long distance. Once the actual move-date got closer, we set up a walk-through in our apartment to confirm that we ordered the correct size POD and the manager specifically said "You'll have more than enough room for your belongings in the POD that you ordered". When the actual movers showed up, that's when things took a turn. We had paid for 3 movers, although one walked in and said he had the flu and was "hoping to help as much as possible". They then did a quick walkthrough and began packing up items to load into the POD. About halfway into the day, my husband came down to see how the load-in was going and it was disastrous. They had loaded a bunch of small items into the POD and had left large furniture items out, and were telling my husband that we should consider "getting rid of some furniture to fit into the space". While we're all for cleansing before a move and trimming down items, the issue we had with this was that we spent SO MUCH time discussing what needed to go into the POD, showing them the furniture that we were moving. Due to their lack of ability to actually load the POD correctly, and holding large items to the end, we had to then work with them to reconfigure the POD to fit our belongings. Their estimate that the job would be $600 in total ended up being $1400 because we had to pay for them to stay, to DO THEIR JOB THE RIGHT WAY. Truly, this company is a joke. This was the worst moving experience we've ever had. My husband and I have moved several times over the years and were so disappointed with the experience that StrongMile movers provided.
