Strongmile is a moving helper company - which means you book the moving van/truck up front yourself and drive it yourself (or you can pay to have them drive it for you.) I opted to drive my own truck to cut down on costs. I got 2 guys for my move; they were on-time, friendly, professional, and worked very efficiently. They had to move me from a fourth-floor walk-up in Jersey City to a house in Jersey City; they disassembled my bed and larger furniture pieces effortlessly and reassembled them when they unloaded the truck. Nothing was damaged, and the truck was packed expertly and with care. All the charges were up front - and I paid fairly close to my estimate cost. If I have to move again in Jersey City, I'd chose these guys in a nanosecond. I HIGHLY recommend them. read more

I have moved every year for the last dozen years. I have always hired movers. This move was my first with a baby and we were just messes. Nothing was packed well, things weren't wrapped properly. I was really expecting total disaster, especially considering the insane stairs at our new apartment. When we pulled up to the Uhaul (get there early, we wasted 45 minutes on the clock dealing with uhaul lines and incompetence) there were five guys there, all in matching tshirts stretching, jumping. We were like "damn." When we opened the door to our two bedroom apartment they were like hurricanes. The entire truck was loaded in 90 minutes. Totally. The unloading took a bit longer because of the crazy stairs but they honestly banged that out really quickly too. The whole move was five hours including the wasted uhaul time. They shook all of our hands when we met them and they remembered our names, even our daughter. They helped us lower our baby's crib, helped visualize how to layout the rooms. They were just epic. My husband and I wanted to hug them. Best movers either of us have ever used without any hesitation. We had just moved long distance (1,500 miles) by POD from Dallas to West New York, NJ, and we needed a local moving company to help us retrieve our belongings from the POD warehouse and move it into our top-floor apartment. We both have back problems, so we really needed a reliable moving company. Everything was explained up front to the tee, and our total expense matched the estimate. We had Adam, Caspar and Rob, and all 3 were phenomenal. They were troopers in carrying some heavy items up five flights of stairs. I would say when asking for an estimate, count everything to get as close to that estimate as possible. The company does not have its own trucks, but they work very well with Uhaul and will even book the truck for you. We had them drive the truck, which costs more by adding time, but it was so worth it. The company was superb, and I wouldn't hesitate to hire them again should we have another local move. read more

Great services. Nothing was damaged and the move was very quick and not painful. Even though they are getting paid per hour they work very quickly which is great. They are timely and courteous and the owner Joe personally reaches out several times before the move to ensure everything goes smoothly. Their rates are comparable to others in the area. I got several quotes from other movers and they are by far the most organized from the companies I spoke to. I even had to make a stop at a family member's house to pic up more furniture and they were totally ok with it. I hired Strongmile Movers to help my 90-year-old father move from his 1BR apartment in New Jersey to a new 1BR apartment in Virginia. Based on all their 5-star reviews on Yelp, I didn't even bother to call anyone else, and now that the move is over I am glad I chose Strongmile. A "labor only" moving company was exactly what I was looking for. Since Strongmile does not have their own trucks, the customer has the flexibility to drive their own U-Haul truck which saves loads of money, and in our case, lots of time. This was a 6-hour, out-of-state drive, so Dad and I just set off on the road that night, as soon as the truck was loaded. Then we had a similar moving company in Virginia unload the U-Haul the next day and help us move in at his new place. From our initial phone and email contacts, Joe was very thorough and helpful about the company's procedures. We had an afternoon appointment the day of the move, with a three-man team. They took great care in moving dad's furniture, and even shrink-wrapped some of the pieces to keep scratches off. The team brought their own dollies, tape, wrap and tools which made the move go by even more quickly. In less than two hours, they were able to load all of dad's furniture, plus 25 boxes of books and assorted items, PLUS make an extra stop at my sister's house to drop off a piano. Contracted Strongmile Movers to relocate from our two bedroom townhouse into a single family home in Bridgewater. Bottom line... We had a great experience and would absolutely recommend them! Our movers (Justin, Casper, Rob, and Dany) arrived on time during a cold, rainy Friday and once inside, got right to work. Considering the cost is a rate per hour, I was a little skeptical that they would work so efficiently but I was pleasantly surprised. We completed our move in six hours (two hours earlier than estimated). The team was very professional and friendly. They took great care of a few select items that my wife was nervous about getting damaged. They even maneuvered around some painters that were working in our new home without complaint or conflict. Context: Moved from a house in the burbs to an elevator building in JC. About a 35 minute drive away. These guys were great. Easy to get a hold of Joe to schedule the move. Easy to work with to get their insurance information. Everything went smoothly. We had a custom table that we were the most worried about and they took extra care to wrap it and load it. Everything moved great with no damage. They got along well with the staff at the apt building we were moving into, so there were no ruffled feathers there either. I highly recommend them for your next move. Extra info: For those that are not aware, you pay Strongmile Movers by the hour (and half/hour after some minimum time) per mover. From start to finish, this company is organized, efficient, personable and just plain has their ACT TOGETHER, which my husband and I appreciate over anything else. Just used these guys yesterday. They were incredible with the speed of their work. My wife is pregnant and I have a severe injury so we needed help with our move. We're both so glad we picked Strongmile Movers. They loaded up our two bedroom apartment, drove an hour to our new location and unloaded it with a time of three hours total. I was in the military and moved a lot. It'd take movers 4-6 hours just to pack up my one bedroom apartment in the past. These guys loaded and unloaded everything in 3 hours total. They never complained either. We moved into a 3-story townhouse and they got everything up the stairs flawlessly. Bottom line, these guys were cheap, quick and efficient. If I could give one star I would. My parents hired them to move some things to storage. Two out of the three were respectful the third was awful. Please be aware they DO NOT wear masks. When asked politely they declined and stated its rge owners policy. That is fine with me and could have ended there. I called the office and since it was a weekend it was closed. Now when I asked the third man if there was another number he brushed me off stating don't know I only work weekends. I stated ok I'll ask other one, it's not personal but especially since you only work weekends it's why I feel strongly about masks. He then proceeded to tell me I was hypocritical bc in my own house in a diff room I wasn't wearing a mask- I know where I've been and my house it's the Movers that need to be careful and respectful. They didn't wear gloves masks or use hand sanitizer. As a moving business I find this incredibly reckless , I was calm and polite I don't need to be spoken down to and ridiculed in my own home. As a business during Covid going to multiple houses a day, it's VERY unsafe to not wear masks I could have ended when they said it was the owner and I left a message for owner, instead it was escalated as the other one kept going on **they state their reason is bc they are moving heavy things/carrying, I am a nurse I lift heavy patients often. I also live in nyc where all movers wear masks going up and down walk ups with heavy furniture, many times it's up to costumer about wearing masks. People run and work out in mask. But you can move furniture a few feet to the driveway bc you feel like you can't breathe? Oh and btw: you don't lose oxygen wearing one .... please read and educate yourself. read more

I had to move a bedroom set and some couches to my new apartment about 30 minutes away. I reached out to a couple of companies for quotes, but Joe got back to me right away. From there it was a breeze. He laid out what had to be done, costs and how Strongmile works. We spoke a couple times about what needed to be done before and on the day of the move. On the day of the move, I met Rob and Chase at the U-Haul rental office. From there, they drove the truck and the house was emptied out very quickly including a very large 3-person couch that I had struggled to get out of the basement. His communication is great-Joe called me the business day before my move & told me the names of the movers who would be working with me including the team leader for my move. The team called me to let me know when they were on their way, and were actually a little early to get started. They were careful, professional, fast, efficient, REALLY knew what they were doing! They unassembled and reassembled a few pieces for transport, including a king-size bed. I had two large flat screen TVs and a vintage mirror, and when I saw how well they wrapped and packed them I knew they would be just fine, and they were. When I had a delay getting access to the house, the whole team was great, starting with the garage items and waiting with me while I got resolution to the access issue. NOTE: the wait time was part of the final cost which I expected-you pay a fair rate by time (hourly rate), no one's time is free. Moving is stressful. Joe is a true professional in this field - he called the day my reservation was sent in and asked me for details about the move. These guys were great! Moving isn't easy, but Strongmile made it seem like it was. After entering information on their website they called me with a quote. They emailed the quote as well. Once I booked with them I got an email with thorough packing instructions/suggestions. I received a confirmation call the day before the move as well. The guys doing the move were prompt, professional and savvy. These weren't guys picked off the street. These guys would lift 2 boxes at a time on their back! They didn't waste time either. Also, they took the time to carefully plastic wrap my leather sofa and chair. They were courteous, alerted me to any concerns and respected my requests. And they had a good attitude.
