The new owner has turned this restaurant really enjoyable. The portions were huge for a great price and everything was delicious. I tried a little bit of everything from my family's plates, everything tasted delightful. The service was excellent and workers were very kind. The place was clean and ambience was enjoyable.

Dec 2022 Sunday lunch visit with a group of 15. A group member called in advance of our arrival. The restaurant had our table ready, complete with plates and utensils ready. Everyone placed their order at the counter and went to the table. The restaurant was moderately busy, but the counter, kitchen, and wait staff were working efficiently. I ordered the cheese ravioli and added grilled chicken to it. My order along with all others at the table was delivered with a reasonable wait time. The ravioli was good-sized and had good taste, Grilled chicken was also an ample portion. The menu had many good options and I would like to return and try some of them.

North Raleigh folks, this is a great go-to for Italian! Whether it's pizza, pasta, or any of their other dishes, they are serving up quality and properly cooked ingredients. Order at the counter. Receive a number. Sit down at a table where you are brought terrific bread and butter. My most recent pasta dish that included chicken and broccoli was very well prepared and the broth had more flavor than I expected. Husband was happy with his stromboli with sausage also. Note: this is not the kind of place to enjoy a glass of wine with your meal. Little bottles are available if you want, but well, only you can decide if it's worth the calories. Do know that the food very much is!

When in strombolis do as they do in Stromboli so I ordered a Florentine stromboli. It was perfectly cooked with a thin crispy crust and a cheesy filling with a bit of tomato and spinach. This is Cafe style so you order at the register and then you sit at a table until they serve your dish. The waitress brought over three bread rolls with butter as I was pouring my drink. Cost for a filling Stromboli and a beverage including tip was $14 for lunch excellent meal, will go back again.

Italian food at a low price for a huge portion. We had the pasta with shrimp ($16.50). It came with Angel Hair pasta, my favorite. We will return.

Is been a while since I visited this place, so I decided to go back and have some pizza, is not the best pizza i ever had but was not that bad either, it was okay, i did like the complementary bread.

This place gets 5 stars on just their bread alone. It is so fresh and very delicious. I am not a bread person, but this is so good. We tried this place for the first time this evening. Service is very good. They greeted us upon arrival. Very patient and friendly service. We ordered calamari and their calamari is fresh. They serve it with lemon and their marinara which has a really good flavor. The calzone is huge. Very good flavor. Ordered the pizza as well. It was good. Enjoyed our visit.

I couldn't decided what I wanted for lunch, but I knew it had to be easy and fast. I spotted Stromboli's and a few slices sounded perfect. They have a decent sized dining room and it was very clean. They offer counter service only. They have a specials board right when you walk in. They had a few options like a slice and a drink, a slice and a salad, or 2 slices and a drink. I went for two slices of cheese and a drink. The staff was very pleasant and all had smiles on their faces. They promptly took my order. They offer a basket of bread with every order which I declined. They give you a number and you seat yourself. My order was up within 5 minutes. The pizza is NY style, thin crust, but not to the the point where they were floppy when folded in half. My slices were a good temperature as many places serve them too hot. The taste was above average although I thought the crust could have been better. I usually eat my crust, not today, it wasn't doing it for me. The staff definitely had some hustle. They had a number of tables occupied, but by no means were they packed. Regardless, staff members were moving quickly to ensure people were getting their food without delay. The service and atmosphere pushed my rating to a 4. I would definitely return to try some other menu items.

I placed a carry out order with this company. I called the order in and the lady was very polite and efficient in taking my selections. She repeated them back and made sure the order was correct. She said the order will be ready in 20 minutes. I arrived and walked through the doors, I was greeted right away. " Welcome to Stromboli's ". I said I was here for a carry out order. she said my name and got my order. It was just out of the kitchen and nice and hot she said. The dining area was nice and very clean. No problem parking, but may have on a weekend. The food was excellent ( Cal-zones ) . They did not short nay in the middle of the Cal-zone. They were golden brown and done to perfection. Excellent and friendly service with great food to boot ! I like it !

Stromboli's has the potential to be a Greek Tragedy (That would be ironic given it is an Italian Restaurant), but it has become the makings of a Meg Ryan Meets Tom Hanks Love Story. We are so happy for that. This restaurant is not on a main highway. It is in a small strip mall It does a lot of take out so there are folks in and out (Letting in quite a draft in the Winter) It is one room with a fountain help yourself soda station and you have to order at the counter so the thought of high quality, doesn't scream out at you. Let's suspend all that for a minute. The warm bread and olive oil they bring to your table while you wait is mouth watering good. The open face kitchen and brick pizza oven gives a smell you can't refuse. The portions are ridiculously big (Expect to take some home) The creativity is kinda awesome. I had this tortellini and shrimp in a creamy pesto. Holy Mama Mia. So good. So so good. So what makes this place work, beside quality hidden behind a small hole in the water Italian joint? Partnerships!!! They are aligned with a number of local high schools and honestly, we dined there because my father had a booster coupon from a school function offering a discount, so why not. We were so not disappointed. This is quality Italian with extremely healthy portions.

Mushroom sausage pizza, made in a wood fire oven..its called the sorrento..yum!
    Leslie H.

If you enjoy wood fired pizza..this is a restaurant to try! I have been there a few times now and always dined in. They can accomodate large parties by putting tables together. I get the impression that alot of nearby school athletic teams eat there because of the pictures on the wall. The staff is nice and I love how open the kitchen is. My lil one likes to sit on the bar stools and watch thru the glass as the pizza maker prepares the pizza before it goes in the wood fire oven. The pizza is delicious and tasty. The right balance of crust vs sauce vs cheese ..everytime. Our favorite pizza to share is the Sorrento which is made with fresh mushrooms and sausage. Their pizza has been really good and consistent every visit, which makes us return customers.

The pumpkin arancini is a stroke of genius and should be the first thing you order! I had the sea bass (catch of the day) also unique, with olives and blistered tomatoes. Light, perfectly done & flavorful: exquisite. The ravioli with boar meat is an option too interesting to pass up, and it did not disappoint. The cocktail selection was solid- I was especially pleased to see a nod to classic cocktails that were expertly done. The wine list is unusual. When we inquired about it, the waiter said the owners of the restaurant, both sommeliers, continue to develop their list based on what is available due to tariffs and the related challenges with sourcing. So, for an Italian restaurant offering wine selections from Turkey and Chile, there were big shoes to fill, and the wines were lovely- for each dish we ordered. Cannoli for dessert (1?) was delicious. Next time we hope to try the key lime panna cota or other offerings, they looked straightforward on the menu, but I am certain they will be a post-dinner delight that reflects the thoughtfulness of the rest of the menu.

We also tried pork chop and it was not bad should probably try the flank steak instead. I had chocolate cannoli- the cream was rich but not overly sweet - very nice. Tiramisu was also more flavor than sweet which is what we love. Waiter was very attentive and helpful in suggesting dishes. Overall - if I don't count the mishap on seating - it was a good experience.

Y'all's prices are already adequately high AND you want to charge me for using a credit card?! I feel like this is just petty. I feel disrespected. If your going to charge me $30 for literally 6-7 tiny little ravioli, at least indicate in SOME way that I'm getting a little appetizer portion and not an actual pasta dish that would serve as a meal. First of all, I implore anyone wanting to go, make reservations during peak hours! We entered through a big heavy wooden door into the quasi-dark atmosphere and were promptly seated, despite most of the tables being occupied. We were given a two top and started with chips and guacamole. I was impressed with the chips, they were a little extra thick, had tiny bubbles in them. Certainly a far departure from the typical thin, overly salty chip found at most restaurants and grocery stores. Excellent guac with a little pico and lime wedge on the side. I ordered the Baja bowl with shredded adobo chicken. The bowl had green rice, black beans, a whole lot of kale, tomatillo sauce, pickled red onions, crema, and cilantro. It needed a little more, so I added in some of the guac, a few chips I crumbled in my hands for some crunch, and some fresh lime juice. Noah did a good job keeping our water glasses full and he was quite friendly. However, the restroom situation is a bit difficult. There are two small unisex bathrooms, both of which have to be locked. There can't be more than one person in there at the same time, so plan accordingly. Granted, since there isn't much space in the restaurant, it's not as if they have a ton of options.

The Radiatore small pasta was delicious and satisfying while just the right size for lunch, adding chicken for a protein boost. My friend enjoyed the Chicken Parm Sando and Kardashian Chopped Salad. Good service in a surprisingly well decorated atmosphere, I would come back to Flour & Barrel for more Italian goodness! The Deets: I wanted to catch up with a friend over a weekday lunch and we scoped out Flour & Barrel in DTR to do just that. When entering in from the pretty nondescript exterior/entrance on the corner of North and Harrington Streets, it becomes a colorful well decorated bistro/bar type feeling inside which is welcoming. We were shown to our table next to one of the wide windows facing North St, I liked this table with lots of natural light and yes, I am a people watcher as well. The server took our drink orders and asked if we had any questions about the menu. The lunch menu is pretty succinct but well represented, offering focaccia sandwiches (sandos), small pastas (pasta handmade in-house), and salads. It also has a wine and craft beer selection also if needed. My friend went with the Chicken Parmesan Focaccia Sando (has pomodoro, mozzarella, and basil) with Kardashian Chopped Salad (made with romaine, salami, provolone, piquillo peppers, artichoke, and garbanzo) for a side while I chose the Radiatore small pasta selection. The Radiatore is described on the menu as "our version of carbonara but creamier / guanciale / egg" so naturally it caught my eye. I am usually pretty cut and dry about wanting carbonara to be the traditional type but since they stated upfront that this is their version, I was willing to give it a go. I am glad I did, as this pasta dish was great. The serving was the perfect size for lunch, plus I was able to add chicken to it as well. The sauce was creamy and delicious, going well with the al dente pasta. This meal was most satisfying and I would love to get this one again in the future. My friend really enjoyed the sando so much, he had originally planned to eat half and take the other half home...that didn't work out the way he planned as he devoured the whole sandwich there, it was that good. He also enjoyed the salad as well. Our server did well checking on us and making sure we had what we needed. I am so glad we decided to try out Flour & Barrel for lunch, it worked out perfectly and was a very enjoyable meal.
