    Ampeg Bass Amp
    Paul C.

Best Place to get your Amplifier & Guitar repaired as I called around and last call was recommended by The Guitar Center of Pasadena to go to Stringed Instruments. I got my son's Ampeg Bass Amp serviced & we are Good! Highly Recommend Jeffery's shop!

Jerry repaired my 20 year old Fender Telecaster and it plays like new.

I found Stringed Instrument Services on Yelp after I made the decision to start playing guitar again-- I needed to get my 20 year old Fender Telecaster repaired, tuned up, set up, and just overhauled in terms of playability in addition to making sure the electronics were working properly. It had been sitting in storage and just needed some very serious TLC. Jerry was super personable, friendly, and answered all of my questions and did an amazing job. He was a little backed up with other jobs and it took about two weeks, but the vibe of this shop and Jerry's approach was something I respected a lot. About six months later, I asked Jerry if he could help me build my pedalboard, route power to all of the pedals, and do some custom layout work. They don't normally do stuff with pedalboards, but I was so impressed with his work on my guitar that I begged if he would be able to get my pedalboard built. He agreed and again it took about 2 weeks, but it came out amazing. Jerry is the dude to take your guitar or amp to. He's a small shop and may take a bit longer but the quality is worth it and Jerry's very knowledgeable and a good dude. Go SIS!

Once again, Jerry did setups on two more of my guitars (he's worked on four total now), a Frankenstein SG Standard, and a new ES-355. No one comes close to doing such an amazing job on setups and I've tried just about anyone you've heard of in LA. Jerry is the best. I think it's because he takes the time to do fret work if necessary. Whatever he does, it great. Always seems to get the work done well ahead of schedule too. Just go here.

Went to the shop to restring my electric guitar. I was trying to learn tuning but snapped the high E string in the process. The rest of people working there were on a tradeshow so only one man was in the shop. Being inside the shop, it seems to be not an ordinary run on the mill shop but a crafters' work area. It's like they treat their work as a craft not a job. The man who was there is friendly, knowledgeable, and professional. Dropped my guitar off for restringing and basic setup. There are parking spots. Newbie friendly place. I will definitely be returning to have them do a basic setup and possibly restring my backup guitar.

Awesome repair shop for all your guitar and amplifier needs. Great friendly service and super knowledgeable. Authorized fender service center as well. Lots of cool gear there to look at as well plus a couple of cool pinball machines! Professional set up, repairs and service that also serve the pros.

A careless luthier sanded off the corner of my vintage Telecaster's neck pickup cover.

Great customer service. Brought my son's violin in to restring (fell out). Since the old string was still good, they didn't charge us.

Tube, solid state, modeling. if it's fixable, we will fix it. We offer reasonable rates and quick turnaround times, and professional expertise. Whether you need to fully restore a vintage Fender or replace the jack on the CRATE amp you've had in your garage for twenty years, we've got you covered. Here's just a sampling of what we do: -- Tube replacement and biasing -- General service including cleaning of all contact points and repairing if necessary -- Grounded cable installation -- Your amp doesn't sound right for any of these reasons: It's too quiet, it makes noise, it hums or buzzes, crackles or pops. The knobs don't work or they make noise. Your speaker doesn't sound right. Your fuse keeps blowing and you don't know why. It turns on but makes no sound. It doesn't turn on at all! Or maybe it just doesn't sound like it used to. We can help with all of this. And we take a holistic approach to your amp, which means we look at the whole amp and evaluate it from there instead of looking for band-aids or easy fixes. With vintage amps, our goal is to keep them original as possible. We're not going to tear the beautiful Blue Molded capacitors out of your old Fender just because they're old. Instead, we test everything to see what's still working and what needs to be replaced.

My first visit was for an adjustment ona new electric violin that I bought for my daughter. It came from Europe, so I had to find a local luthier. They did a fantastic job! In return, he arranged to have instruments built for me in China. While they *do* maintain a quasi-storefront, this is basically a violin academy that holds periodic recitals as well. They also do A LOT of wholesale-to-the-trade activity. You couldn't tell by looking at the place from the street, but the back half of the building is a warehouse! Since you're probably not a wholesaler, let me tell you a bit about their normal-people services. There's a small violin shop. You can buy recordings, accessories, sheet music, and any violin-family instrument in any size. There is also a limited selection of antique instruments. They also have some very high-grade Chinese violins that give some of the better old Italians a run for their money. They have cheap stuff too. The whole gamut, basically. Most repairs are sent out. I don't know what else to say. The teachers, of whom Edmund is one, are very qualified. Ask for Edmund, because he's the only one who speaks English well enough to carry out any meaningful business. They're closed on Mondays. They also have a small boutique shop in a reconverted bungalow down in Old Town Fullerton, on the west side of Harbor Blvd., north of Chapman.

I asked him about his trade, and he showed me a Civil War-era bugle that he crafted, as well as a fairly bizarre-looking (at least to me) B-flat horn that he constructed based on a design provided by a customer. This experience building custom instruments seems to have made him especially knowledgeable about the effects of different materials, construction techniques, and the range of things that are even possible in building a horn. I came to Robb Stewart with my horn, the lead pipe of which had been hit pretty hard in an accident that left it slightly bent. He managed to finish the work to realign it and correct some of the structural damage the accident had caused in just a few days and gave me a quote upfront. No complaints about the quality of the work either; the instrument plays just as it did before, with only a few small traces of where the metal work had been done.
