Marzz Guitarzz - My set up Epiphone SG Muse, the custom pickups look and sound sick AF. - Guitar Stores Near Me - Pasadena, California

Just absolutely amazing. I bought a new guitar that had an Evertune system installed. The setup from the factory was playable but everything just felt a little off all over the neck. Since I spent a little more on this guitar than I usually do I just wanted to make sure everything was absolutely perfect. I'm a novice when it comes to guitar setups and decided to take a stab at it first by just doing some simple relief and action adjustments but it just felt off. Strings were pinging all over. Frets near the nut buzzed and played weird and there were some dead spots. I looked for local guitar techs near me and found Marzz. Saw he had great reviews and decided to give him a call and set up an appointment. It's great that Marcelo offers appointments. I was able to have 1:1 time with no pressure to explain what's going on and how I like the guitar to feel. Marcelo also did some preliminary checks to the guitar and noticed right away what some of the issues were and discussed them with me. Talking with Marcelo was like talking to a long-time friend that you've known for years. I've been in other tech shops before and haven't felt that same warmth that I felt from him. Marcelo is a Wizard. No more dead frets/pinging spots/tight feeling nut. I had many low frets and he had to level and and re-crown my stainless steel frets. I got the guitar back within a few days and everything about the guitar was absolutely perfect. In fact the way that it plays almost feels illegal. I've never owned a guitar that played as good or had a setup done as perfect as this. Don't question the master. Let him do his thing. You won't regret it. read more

Marcelo is the sweetest & really has a true love affair with his instruments. He was so kind, efficient, & skilled. Highly recommend.

Haven't played in years and I was intimidated by the idea of getting two of my middle-of-the-road guitars fixed up by a luthier. But Marzz is a really nice dude and did an excellent job fixing them up for a very reasonable price. Strongly recommend reaching out to him if any of you are similar situated. read more

Marzz is the man! I took my acoustic in because I was having some intonation issues. Marzz got the guitar sounding great and looking even better. Great pricing and super fast turn around, I had my guitar back the day after I dropped it off. I'll be bringing all my guitars to Marzz from now on! Can't recommend him enough. read more

Absolutely grateful to have found Marzz! Took him a newly acquired Martin and also a Gretsch acoustic to do a setup on each. Not only is he a highly skilled and knowledgeable technician but is also incredibly personable and kind. He treated both me and my guitars with a whole lot of care and expertise. Many thanks again to you Marzz! read more

I found Marzz Guitarzz after searching for local guitar repair shops. I was impressed by his number of 5-star reviews so I setup an appointment. Marzz is such an easy-going guy with a clear passion for what he does. My guitar was a beat-to-sh*t Schecter and he treated it like it was a '59 Les Paul. He explained in detail what the issues with my guitar could be and what the possible repairs would entail. I also left my Fender Jag-Stang for his 5-point guitar tech/setup service and this is what made me want to dust off my yelp account and leave a 5 star review. Throughout the whole process, Marzz would update me with progress pictures and technical details on what he was doing that made me eager to play it after all was said and done. Marzz breathed new life into that guitar. After 22 years it felt brand spanking new, with the action lowered to my preferred level. The fretboard is so much more comfortable to navigate, this guitar is going to become my main once again. I can't recommend Marzz Guitarzz enough. He's earned my loyalty and I will definitely be coming back to him for all my guitar needs. read more

Another great experience with Marzz. My daughter's Cordoba C7 classical guitar needed a setup and adjustments to eliminate some buzzing. Always a great experience with Marzz Guitarzz. Great local business, attention to detail and personal service. Makes our guitars sing.

I never bothered to set up a Martin D35 I got 7 years ago. Never really played much until the last year, but I thought it sounded great but played a little stiff. Finally brought it in for a proper setup but didn't trust the big box place. Brought it to Marcelo after reading the reviews. Now it sounds like a different instrument, fretting is so much smoother and sounds even better. I'm glad I found Marzz Guitarzz, I'm currently in the process of bringing in all my guitars for proper set-ups. Marcelo is a great guy just from the last couple interactions I've had. I'm happy to bring him as much business as I can. read more

H3 replied ver quick and no bs he is straight up person tells u if it's going to work or no..

Having had most of my guitars worked on by Marcelo, it's about time I leave a review on his work. I've brought my guitars (strat, tele, LP) to Marcelo for general setups, and every time I do I'm blown away at the difference in playing quality. He is incredibly meticulous, always thoroughly checking the frets and neck for playability. He's been honest about issues that he has found (twisted neck, unlevel frets, etc.), and has always informed me about the price before going ahead with the work. I've never felt like he was trying to add any hidden costs or upcharge me. I cannot overstate how much I recommend getting a good, professional setup on a guitar at least once, no matter if it's an American fender or an affordable squier. Yes, it's more expensive than what guitar center offers, but having your guitar play effortlessly is the best thing you can do to increase your play time. I haven't been able to put my guitar down in months, and it's all because they are always such a joy to play after they get the Marcelo touch. Cant recommend his services enough, a really cool guy who's an absolute wizard at making guitars sing. read more

Marzz Guitarzz - My partscaster on the bench before getting fully set up - Guitar Stores Near Me - Pasadena, California

I contacted Marcelo to setup an old partcaster tele that was playing fine but nothing special. I didn't really know what to expect (first time with Marzz Guitarzz) but I went with Marcelo's suggestions and when I got my guitar back, I don't know what magic happened, but the intonation was full of life. I'm thrilled with how it plays. He made it great sounding and made it more playable: it stays in tune; the action is low and the work he did on the fretboard makes it easier to play. Marcelo is not only an authentic craftsman and a true luthier, who can restore an instrument and give it a new life -he's a master- he's also a nice person to be around and gives good advice and suggestions about small changes to do on the instrument to improve your playing. I know where to go from now on. 100% recommendation. read more

I had bought a used Gibson Hummingbird a few weeks ago. It had an issue with the saddle--the previous owner had poorly modified it to lower the action and made the guitar nearly unplayable. I had resigned myself to having a professional setup done and also resigned myself to making the long trip to Santa Monica to McCabe's. I had light bulb moment and did a quick web search for a local shop and found Marzz. Not only did he fix my problem with the Hummingbird, he upgraded the saddle and leveled the frets all for the original price he quoted me. The guitar sounds as amazing as it was supposed to. And, I had my new guitar back in my hands in less than 48 hours. I was so happy with the work that I brought him my 30 year old beater Alvarez to tune up. He treated this guitar with the same care as he did my Hummingbird and it plays better than I can ever remember. I wouldn't hesitate to bring any of my guitars to him in the future. read more

So glad I found Marzz. My son plays electric guitar and his instructor told him that the input jack and tone knob were loose and needed some work. My son and I brought the guitar to Marzz. He thoroughly examined the guitar and found other issues and offered to fix every one of them. I don't know what kind of magic he used but when we got the guitar back, it sounded better than when it was brand new. Marzz explained all the work he did in great detail and charged a very reasonable price. He even threw in an extra modification for free. When my son was testing out his newly revived guitar, Marzz let him try out all his effects pedals, My son was having such a great time and Marzz was so patient. I felt a little bad that my son was taking up his time but Marzz didn't seem to mind at all and instead, explained what each pedal did with his usual enthusiasm. I highly recommend Marzz. He is super friendly, knows all the ins and out of a guitar and loves what he does. Don't hesitate to go to Marzz. read more

When you're looking for a luthier, there is no substitute for an artisan who takes pride in they're craft. Marzz doesn't do "Good enough". He cares about your guitar as much as you do. And he's a communicator so you know you're being understood. And talking to Marzz, who couldn't be more humble about his talent, you realize there's a lot he can teach you. He worked on my Martin D-28 and made me realize I should have taken it to him a long time ago. It's like playing a new guitar! Seriously, I can't Recommend him enough! read more

I brought to wildly different guitars to Marzz for setups; one a Republic single cone parlor size resonator and the other a 1999 Danelectro Hodad, the one with the Dano branded Bixby trem. Marzz spent time with me to find out about my musical background and playing style, what I wanted from each guitar, my preferred tunings and string gauges. He told me what he provides with a setup, which is comprehensive and reasonably priced. Check his web page for a description of his standard setup. You'll see what I mean. He did a great job on both of them. The resonator was setup with high action and medium strings. Marzz dropped the action and restrung it with light-mediums and now it plays like a dream. The Hodad was in bad shape and I was afraid that it would require extensive work. Marzz cleaned, adjusted and did some kind of voodoo to tighten up the pots and switching without replacement. Again, the setup is perfect. I highly recommend Marzz's setup work. Between his preliminary discussions with you about your needs and expectations and his attention to detail in his setup work he'll give you what you need for the best value. read more

Not only did he service my guitars, he did way more than bare minimum & it's all those extra touches and service that will bring me back time & time again. He even delivered them off to my house because he was driving past one day.
