It stays in tune which is big if you know about lyre maestro vibrolas . I was charge a fair price for the amount of work that was done . The instrument we were given was determined by the music program's director and assistant to be, instead, a violin. I obtained a third opinion at Encore Music, and was informed by the teacher there as well that the instrument we had been given is (i.e., was strung as) a violin. I brought it back today for a refund of pro-rated rental fee (from what I had paid upfront). Note that I asked the assistant at the store to identify the instrument for me before telling him the problem; he identified it as a violin. When I explained the reason for the return, he then said that it is a viola, and brought it to the proprietor, who insisted that it was a viola all along. I insisted on the return, but they did not refund me the tax I pre-paid, and also charged me for a full 3 months' payment instead of the 2.5 months it has been. Overall, this has been a frustrating waste of time and money. There are many other options for instrument rentals in the area and I recommend you use a different one.

While my Steinway was being repaired, I told George I intended to have piano concerts in my home on special occasions using both pianos on. But George said most professional musicians would not want to play my Steinway because the keyboard and pedals were not in mint condition. Over time, when musician friends came to my home, they only wanted to play the Yamaha Grand. Then I visited a church with a magnificent organ, but paired with a terrible piano! I decided to donate my Steinway to the church, rather than restore it However, the church wanted me to either restore the Steinway Grand, or donate my Yamaha since the Yamaha was in mint condition! I decided to donate the Yamaha Grand, thinking that if I was going to restore the Steinway Grand, I wanted to keep it for myself! The story ends happily! I called George Ashikyan! He did a magnificent job of restoring my Steinway Grand Model L! Now all the musicians among my friends and family want to play it!

With a review, no less!…read more The owner, Edmund Wu, is actually a personal friend of mine and, well, I helped him get an eBay retail business going back in the mid '90s (as well as sundry other violin-related ventures he had brewing in his mind at the time). In return, he arranged to have instruments built for me in China. While they *do* maintain a quasi-storefront, this is basically a violin academy that holds periodic recitals as well. They also do A LOT of wholesale-to-the-trade activity. You couldn't tell by looking at the place from the street, but the back half of the building is a warehouse! Since you're probably not a wholesaler, let me tell you a bit about their normal-people services. There's a small violin shop. You can buy recordings, accessories, sheet music, and any violin-family instrument in any size. There is also a limited selection of antique instruments. They also have some very high-grade Chinese violins that give some of the better old Italians a run for their money. They have cheap stuff too. The whole gamut, basically. Most repairs are sent out. I don't know what else to say. The teachers, of whom Edmund is one, are very qualified. Ask for Edmund, because he's the only one who speaks English well enough to carry out any meaningful business. They're closed on Mondays. They also have a small boutique shop in a reconverted bungalow down in Old Town Fullerton, on the west side of Harbor Blvd., north of Chapman.
