Bought 45$ insoles less than a month later I go back with the insoles and receipt... they said they were not able to do an exchange or a return for me. The lady said no insoles will work with my shoes.... umm then why did one of their employees sell me them with the same shoes? Striders is always an amazing place. Their knowledge and customer service is above and beyond anywhere else I've bought running shoes. Karissa helped me get hooked up with excellent shoes and was very patient and professional as I tried on multiple pairs of shoes to find the right fit. Each time I've been here the staff has taken time to ask the questions needed so we can both drill down on my needs. They have been helpful and attentive and the pair of shoes I bought last week are the most comfortable I've ever had. Striders is THE place in Ogden/Layton to get expert advice on running gear. They have a great selection of gear, and the people are fantastic. Serious gear from people who actually walk the walk. (or Run the Run if you will) There is zero pressure to buy one brand over another, or better yet - an expensive shoe over a cheep shoe. I've walked in WANTING to buy a high priced shoe only to leave with a correct fitting, much less expensive model. TOP KNOTCH. The owners are also class acts who give back to the community. read more

This is an excellent store. They have everything you could possibly need to continue running comfortably and the staff is very nice. Kelly J. You cannot fault the store for your picking the wrong shoe. They did their pronation test for you (Treadmill evaluation), and based on that, they give you a number of shoes that would suit you best. You can't expect a running store employee to be able to make sure you're completely comfortable 24/7. Maybe you should adjust your foot strike, or perhaps visit a physician. They can more accurately tell you what your problem is when you run. You shouldn't fault the running store though. read more

I cannot say enough great things about the experience I had at Striders. Just as I walked in, the sales person took note on how I walk, then analyzed my arch with their computer. She selected several options to meet my needs and was able to fit me with the perfect shoe and insert. So excited for my new shoes and hopefully be on my way to less aches and pains! read more

Do not shop at this business. They have a great selection of shoes but their customer service is horrible. They enforce their no return policy strictly and have very limited order capacity for color options. Shopping here just gets annoying. read more

Buyer Beware! During my most recent purchase I asked the staff what their return policy was. I was told I had 15 days to return the shoes for store credit. I felt confident in my purchase knowing I had this option. Unfortunately, the shoes ended up causing me pain in the first couple runs. I always buy and run in the same exact shoe so I'm pretty sure these shoes were defective. When I tried to exchange the shoes 4 days later (this is the first time I've ever tried to return a shoe), the owner/manager refused. I told him what his staff told me when I purchased the shoe, but he didn't care. Finally after arguing with him for a while he said he'd give me half the price of the shoe in store credit. I laughed and asked if the price of this shoe was worth losing a customer for life. He didn't seem to care. Being an avid runner, I've spent thousands of dollars in this store over the years and referred many people here. NEVER AGAIN! read more

Drove long distance to Striders in Layton. Arrived at 6:45pm (they close at 7pm) When we walked in we noticed three employees who seemed to be standing around the counter. The lady behind the counter immediately said We have shut down our analysis machine, but you are welcome to look around. As she immediately looked down at something on the counter. I explained that we had driven long distance and aimed to arrive before closing time. She said well it takes about 7 minutes to put you through the analysis machine and like I said it is shut down now. Okay, how difficult would it have been to reboot machine and help us as we arrived before closing time. When we said we would look for different place, it didn t seem to bother her or two other employees. This is what I call poor customer service! We will not return to this store and we will not recommend anyone to this type of customer service. read more

I have been very loyal to a certain business whenever I have running shoe needs. I am not a huge runner so I completely place myself in the expert hands of a running company. I was recommended to come to this store, better prices etc. The staff was nice, they measured my foot, they did a foot analysis then the employee passed me off to another employee and gave her all my measurements, foot anaylis and so on. The girl brought out about 6 pairs of shoes and when I questioned the different brands or cushioning she just told me they were all great and to just get the ones that felt the best. (so here is why the low star reveiw, I am completely oblivious to how to choose running shoes, I am so used to be told what to get to help with what problems I have when I run) so I tried on the various shoes, got the ones that felt the best, asked about return policy (cannot return if you run outside) and left with a pair of shoes and some dfferent types of runnings socks. I ran in these shoes for about a week and from the first run didn't love them but just figured that was because they were a new brand that I was used to so I continued to run in them. By the second week my bad knee was really starting to act up, so I started to space out my runs. By the third week both knees were bothering me and my feet were aching. Now I know this sounds weird but I checked the size and yes they were in fact my size of shoe, but in a running shoe you are always recommended to go up a half of a size. I had told the store what size I wore in a running shoe. They had measured my feet, I just trusted them to put me in the correct size of shoe, so yes my bad for being used to thinking that when in a running store they were the complete guru's of knowledge and just went with what the recommended. I now know there is only one place you can do this. So I will go back to the best and know that when I need a good pair of running shoes, until I am more knowleable and know exactly about running shoes, I will go where I can get the kind of service I am used to. read more

I'm more of an avid walker vs. runner, but they help me find shoes that will give the right support and care my feet need. I like the Layton store, but the Ogden store is just as friendly. read more

I came into town to visit family and I have to hunt down every running store in a new town. They were having a sale for the holiday, but I wasn't planning on buying anything. They have more of a clothing selection than my local running store and way more vest and water bottle selection. I started looking at all the vest since I've started running on trails and like to keep my hands free. The employees were nice enough to let me demo the vest in the shoes I normally run in. I went back and forth for about an hour with all the vest options before I finally chose one. I'm happy with my vest and might be moving to the area, so I will be frequenting this place til they know me by name :) read more

Striders was a better store under the previous owner. Before it was a local store. it has now become a big box store. The staff is not as friendly as before when it was ran by the owner and family. more of a rush to move you along. in and out the store. I am a cross country and track coach for a local high school, so I have decent knowledge of running shoes. I can tell you which shoes are best for which runners, etc. but the staff at the Layton store is new. And to some point clueless on what shoes different body types, foot types can handle. The computer system used for foot analysis is not the tell all sign for what shoes one might need. factors can play into the system, body type, foot type, etc. under the old management, they were extremely knowledgeable in finding the best shoe for you. I don't get that at the New striders. Also, the 30 day return policy is good if you don't wear a pair of shoes outside. well who wears running shoes inside when it is nice outside? the old striders would work with you to some degree on the 30 day policy. as long as you didn't come back with holes in the shoes or completely trash the shoes they would take them back within 30 days. not the new management. the store itself is completely void of the small town feel. local feel. before there were old running shirts, race bibs, local articles of past races on the walls. it had a small local running store vibe. a place to go and talk about running. now it a sterile environment. get in and get out. I have a size 14 shoe. so most stores don't carry my size. and that is fine with me. so I ordered a pair of size 14 altra shoes. I could not use my in store credit of 185$ because striders doesn't allow me to use the in store credit to order shoes online. instead I had to pay 165$ upfront. wait 6-14 days on the lowest level shipping possible. then go back to striders to return the shoes, and use my instore credit. again ridiculous. old management would order the shoes, call you when they arrived, you try them on and it is either a yes or no you like them. AGAIN CUSTOMER SERVICE WAS GREAT. NOW IT IS NOT GREAT. unfortunately, there are only a few running stores in the Layton/ogden area. best bet, go to Wasatch running store in Centerville. It was disappointing, the girl who gave me the analysis test couldn't even tell what my results meant. She had to go and call another girl to tell me. Then all she did was leave me with a few pair of shoes to try on and left. I had to ask a million questions so I knew what would suit me best. Being an amateur runner, it would have been helpful if more insight, feedback and assistance were given.
