I went to UFC Sunnyvale for about a year on recommendation of a friend, and it was a great…read moreexperience When I got the membership, I also caught a three-month trainer holiday promotion deal, since I knew I would have trouble getting myself to go consistently, and while I've been to the gym a bit before, I still wasn't the most familiar with how to make a routine, work towards any goals, or even use a lot of the non-machine equipment I was paired up with Coach Brian Kaho, and he was a great coach. My goal was mainly weight loss to help with some serious health issues I developed, but I also wanted to just have base strength, stamina, and endurance I didn't have before, whether for if I'm invited to do something athletic with friends, or just for day-to-day life Brian was great with working at me where I was at, while still helping me work towards my goals. He knew how to adapt the exercises and how to go about teaching me the core basics to be able to actually build up the skills I needed to do the exercises while also starting to build up the muscle to be able to actually do them Brian was incredibly motivating and encouraging as well, always hyping me up and pushing me to do more while still respecting fully when I did need to take breaks or modify an exercise. He also fully respected boundaries I had set, such as me not wanting to discuss dietary stuff and notwanting to take pre-workout due to my own health issues. He also always worked with me on helping us figure out my specific goals and checked-in wirh me on them I lost a significant amount of weight over the span of that year, which greatly improved multiple weight-related health issues of mine. That amount of improvement isn't something you can just buy outright I also gained some more muscle, which definitely has helped with day-to-day living, and I can't complain about how my fisque has changed from that too. But really, beyond health improvements, the biggest thing working with him helped with was building confidence, faniliarity, and comfortability with being at the gym. In the past, I've gone to the gym and learned a lot of different exercises, but I often would be overwhelmed and often not know how to structure a full workout for myself. Now, I can walk into any gym and make a workout routine for whatever muscle group I want to target, adapt it for the machines and free weights available, remember or figure out the exact body postion to do the exercises properly, figure out sets and reps, and determine weights would push me without hurting me, or modify if weights end up being too much The UFC gym in sunnyvale overall is generally a great vibe as well. I did some of the kickboxing classes, which were fun, but there were a lot of other classes I didn't have the time to try that definitely caught my eye. The equipment is always in good shape there as well, and staff has always been helpful with dealing with any issues like trainer session payment processing and such

The staff was patient & worked really well with everyone. It was a lot of the kids first time climbing & I was nervous they weren't going to like it, turns out they had an amazing experience. Thank you Movement! S/o to Ben for being so kind to all of us, I didn't get the other guy but you were amazing as well. Thank you for being patient with us, I know teenage boys could be tough to reign in but you toughed it out! I appreciate it! I'm considering a membership after this.

I've climbed here several times on weeknights after work (passed my belay check here) and have also…read moredone restorative yoga with Anfisa, as well as a couple of the weekend Flow yoga classes. Maybe I'm just not enough of a climber to look past these things, but I found the environment overcrowded, very noisy (beyond what you would expect for a social zone), and dusty everywhere, even in the gym area. On weeknights, the bag areas are generally so full that people leave their backpacks, shoes, and gym bags in huge circles on the ground. Every time I put down my stuff, I felt nervous that someone was going to mistake my stuff for theirs and take it. Benches are so packed that you have to sit on the floor to put on shoes; the bag areas are so heavily trafficked that it persistently smells like feet (ew!). The last time I was there some months ago, they had 4 Keiser stationary bikes and a few Matrix-branded bikes. The Keiser bikes are old models that do not have a phone holder, so you have to find some place to store your phone while you work out. The bikes and treadmills directly face a lead climbing/top rope wall, so people on the routes are constantly chalking up, and as a result that whole area is very dusty, which is not ideal in an environment where people are doing cardio. I don't know how the gym is on the weekends, but on weeknights there are people everywhere: lining up to climb routes, milling around watching their friends climbing, sitting on the floor, sitting on benches, using the gym equipment. It's like the Chinese saying "people mountain, people sea". There is a mat in the gym area where you can do crunches and such, but that mat also gets very crowded. A pet peeve is that the mirror in the gym area is not floor to ceiling; there is a gap of a foot or so between the bottom of the mirror and the floor, so if you are doing crunches or glute bridges you cannot check your form in the mirror. The yoga room is blessedly quiet and well insulated from the outside. However, the yoga classes I went to were also very crowded. Since the room is large, people would pack, and as a result it was often hard to see the instructor or find a place where there was enough room to stretch out. I think that if you are a devoted climber and you can get used to this sort of environment, this is probably a really great place to climb. But again, I just don't think I'm enough of a climber to look past the hassle of dealing with all this! lol.

There is never judgment from the staff or the people who work out. I love them all. I am proud to call this gym my gym and I'm so happy to be part of this community. Are the equipments best in class? No. But I will come here because of the people and honestly - to be fit all you need are free weights, cardio equipment, and a little help from your friends. The trainers are always so helpful and the manager, Nico is so fun and friendly. For training I recommend Edwin. He has the most transformative training I've ever seen. I have seen his clients transform to their goal body. He takes his job seriously, corrects you while training and understands that proper form is key. He's given me tips and has also helped me transition my training to something suited and better for me and I've seen changes in the way my body respond! So- kudos to Edwin! The front desk staff from Chloe, Mayra, Lance, Andy, and Rishi are so approachable and always there with a smiling face. Jose Luis - the trainer's manager is also super helpful! Sometimes- it isn't about the equipment - it is about the people you surround yourself with that genuinely roots for you that makes a place a second home. Yes, this is my second home. I've been going through classpass which is nice since I can't quite commit to a membership yet but I've been enjoying it so far! I've only taken classes with Myrissa and she was great at explaining the megaformer my first class and I find her classes to be a great push but leaves me wanting to come back as a beginner. The studio is also very aesthetic and clean which provides the perfect vibe for a workout class. I also love that they offer later classes in the evening like 7:30, 8:30, and 9:30pm - this makes fitting in a workout on a weeknight a little bit easier as long as I have the energy and time. Overall, I've been enjoying taking lagree classes here and plan on taking more classes consistently, hopefully checking out other dates and times throughout the week. Would definitely recommend d checking out KAI lagree studio if you're in the area and want to get into lagree.

The instructor was kind enough to teach us the basics before starting the class, rather than explaining everything in the middle of the session. So far, I haven't struggled much compared to my first experience at another Lagree studio, yet I still struggle with abs. She only corrected my form twice. Luckily, I didn't fall while standing up. I had a bit of trouble hearing her instructions over the loud background music, but I love the playlist since it's all K-pop, lol. Overall, this was a cool studio that has a single-use restroom and a refreshment fridge (must pay in the front) in the cubby area. Once in a while, they host pop-ups from local vendors at the front desk. I would go there often if I worked near Sunnyvale. It would be nice if they opened another one in Santa Clara or on the Milpitas/ North San Jose border, since the classes are always booked easily.
