Shrimp taco, Barbacoa taco, steak taco and cochinita taco with pickled red onions.
    Kristina N.

I would've rated this place 2 stars, but my husband enjoyed his Mexican Pizza, so it's bumped to a 3 star. I ordered 4 tacos, shrimp, barbacoa, steak and the inevitable with pickled onions. I want to clarify that I LOVE pickled onions, but these were not good. I'm honestly shocked at the super high rating of this place because the food was just not good. At all. We met friends here from out of town and they did not enjoy their food either. The tacos are very dry and very bland. The pickled onions were not good and had an odd after taste. The salsa verde on the table was basically green water. However, the horchata they have was very delicious. I will give them that. Visually, food looked great, but flavor wise, severely lacking. I did love all the plants outside though. They were beautiful! We will not be coming back here again.

Went to check out this awesome restaurant. Great and vibrant decor that make the place pop with all of the color. The service was on point. When you enter the restaurant, you place your order with the server. Then another server brings out your food. Service was great and fast. We ordered and our appetizer of guacamole and chips came out. About ten minutes later our entree order arrived. The food was extremely fresh with a lot of good flavors and seasonings. I had a shrimp and a red snapper taco on a corn tortilla. The guacamole was super good with fried flour tortilla based chips versus corn tortilla chips. It reminded me of a cracker texture. It paired very well with the fresh guacamole. The chip was thick and very flavorful. Everything was awesome! Just be aware as you enter the restaurant on the left of the entrance, there is a boot scraper and I tripped over it as we walked inside. My foot got stuck in the scraper. Ouchie! I almost fell. Good thing there were chairs and tables outside. I fell on a chair to help me not fall and hurt myself even worse. My toe hurts and has a slight indention. Had to ice it when I arrived home. All in all, good food and I will be back! Good authentic street food. Everyone was very nice and friendly!

This place is delicious, especially for being in the middle of Tennessee. The food tastes authentic; you can tell from the salsa, the chips. Service has been good every time I've gone. - Chips and guac (4.5/5): Love the flour tortilla chips. Tastes super fresh. The guac is chunky with tomatoes. Lots of flavor - Al pastor tacos (4/5): Large portion of meat on each taco. Seasoned well, and super tasty. - Mexican street rice (3.5/5): Interesting flavors, lots going on and lots of add ins. It was yummy just a bit unexpected.

Hit this place up with the family for lunch today....AWESOME! We did takeout since the small-ish dining area was more than half full and nobody wanted to eat outside today (a little chilly). I had three street tacos-shrimp, chicken and tilapia....all perfect! The corn tortillas were delicious and all of the ingredients were super fresh. Others had tamales, chips and queso, street nachos, steak tacos, avocado taco, el pastor, shrimp and chicken tacos. Tortilla chips were excellent-not too greasy nor overly salty...with just the right crunch. Red and green salsas had a gooooood kick...especially the red. Queso is great. We also grabbed 2 bags of the cinnamon sugar tortilla chips-yum!! Winner - winner...get tacos for dinner.

Cute little authentic Mexican restaurant in a small strip mall. Walk up counter to order with a quaint dining area. We were in town for a soccer tournament and decided to give it a try based on the reviews and it did not disappoint. The owners are very friendly and were very helpful in explaining what they have to offer when we couldn't decide what to order. I had the XL carnitas quesadilla and it was excellent. A very large portion served with a few chips. The carnitas had a great flavor and was extra juicy and the cheese was super creamy and melted so smooth. 10/10 highly recommend the quesadilla. My husband and son both got different variations of tacos on flour tortillas and they said they were both really good. The chips are deep fried flour tortillas and are a little on the thick side, but they paired perfectly with the extra creamy white queso. I dipped my quesadilla in the verde salsa. It was a little on the spicy side, but still very enjoyable. Our family enjoyed this little place and would definitely recommend you give it a try if you are ever in the area. They say that their fried rice is a best seller, but we didn't try it this time.

Chinese Fried Rice at a Mexican restaurant.... WOW! It's the best of both food worlds! The fried rice made with fajita meat...LOVE LOVE LOVE!!! The rice was cooked perfectly, flavored nicely, and enough for 2 meals for me. I will definitely order this again. I was too busy chowing down on my food to ask my boys if they liked their burritos and tacos. They are all of theirs so I'm assuming they liked theirs as well. This place was hoping for lunch with a line that moved quickly. The employees were super nice and refilled drinks immediately upon request.

The employees are friendly. It was our first time there and they took the time to explain the menu and tell us about the favorites. The food came out quick and we did not leave hungry. The street tacos are a good size. We will be back again to try another taco! I had the tacos Al pastor, rice and beans. The tacos were authentic and we could have shared the rice and beans.

I had the veggie plate with butter beans (they were a bit sweet and limas, not true butter beans), fried squash (the slice it long ways and hand batter), spinach mashed potatoes, and deviled eggs (delicious, no notes). I tried both hush puppies and a roll. Personally, the hush puppies weren't my favorite, but the roll was buttery goodness:). Most importantly, I asked our server at the beginning if they still had chocolate cobbler and if they were running low to go ahead and bring it out. At first they had plenty, but a few minutes later cobbler was in front of me because she noticed it was running low. So dessert first! Don't mind if I do:) it was warm, gooey, and delicious. Others in my group had the chicken fried steak, and chicken tenders. Everyone was very happy with their meals! Service was great, though the kitchen was a little slow. It took about 30 mins to get our meals. Fun, old timey atmosphere - great service - and delicious home cooking. Will definitely be back.

With entrees like fried chicken and catfish, endless sides like turnip greens, white beans, and just about anything you can imagine fried, and every kind of southern pie, it's all there. The catfish is magnificent, with that wonderfully gritty cornmeal batter surrounding flaky, tender fish. The complimentary roll is also delicious! And the servers are very nice here! But there are some downsides. The fried okra, my favorite southern side dish, is actually soft and soggy. No self respecting southerner would ever make soggy fried okra. It's about the worst I ever had. And the onion rings, which are hard to mess up, were burnt black and lacked flavor. They were inedible. The cashier is rude and doesn't have time for "thank you" or small talk or a smile or even giving you your receipt when nobody else is in line to pay their bill. That's just how it is. If you want good catfish, Sling Shot Charlie's will come through. But if you want a southern culinary experience that's enjoyable, there are much better places to have it!

What we ordered: Sweet tea: Being in the South, I always judge a place by its sweet tea. This is the molasses-style sweet tea--very sweet--so I'd recommend cutting it with unsweetened tea. Breakfast egg rolls: Delicious overall. The filling could've used a little more salt or seasoning, but the gravy was absolute perfection. Chicken & waffles: Fluffy waffles that leaned slightly sweet, but paired really well with the flavorful, well-fried chicken and maple syrup. I recommend asking for the syrup on the side. The portion is large enough to share. Buffalo chicken sliders: The clear winner of the day! The buffalo sauce was perfect, the buns were soft and fluffy, the chicken was crispy, and the shoestring fries were cooked just right. Caesar salad: Decent, but the real star was the blackened shrimp. The seasoning was excellent, and I'd definitely try something blackened again! Overall: Very good food, friendly and fast service, and a cute environment. I'd absolutely come back for dinner and would recommend it to anyone.

It was as if someone had poured a whole cup of salt in them. The catfish is also usually very salty. Nothing on the buffet is labeled, so you may have to ask about some of the meat if it's your first time to go. The salad bar is very small and minimum, so I prefer to get slaw instead, but I no longer do that. Sometimes the slaw had a strange taste and smell as if it was going bad. Once it was so completely soured that it almost made me gag. I let the server know and she just took it away. Toward the end of the meal, she brought another bowl and said it was freshly made. She never apologized. She actually acted put out over it. Needless to say, I've learned to be cautious with the turnip greens and slaw. The dessert bar is terrible. I mean that.
