The food is good, and the prices are very reasonable for the portions you receive. The service is friendly and attentive, and the margaritas are well-made and enjoyable. The restaurant is clean and provides a comfortable dining environment. While the decor may be a little dated, it doesn't take away from the overall experience. Excellent food , pretty quick service nice location only issue I had was they forgot 1 of our taco salads in a big order and it happened to be my dinner but it was hot out any way and I was content with the chips and salsa and the queso dip so I won't hold that against them . First time and hopefully it's not my last! Our server was super friendly and got our order in quickly and brought our drinks right away. The chips and salsa were a delicious starter to munch on while looking over the menu. Their queso dip is pretty savory. A Mexican restaurant that serves amazing horchata is always a plus. It even came in a huge glass with free refills. I was pleasantly surprised. I ordered chicken enchiladas and omg it was a burst of amazing flavors in every bite. I also ordered a steak taco and they season their steak just right and it's nice and juicy. I had an amazing experience from start to finish. I visit lots of mexican restaurants and this one is now in my go to places when I visit. read more

We had stopped coming here. Today we were reminded why! Greasy chips, salty food & poor service. Over priced food & the quality has went down. All three of us said our food was salty. The waitress would walk by & say his everything okay & wouldn't even stop. Who does that?? This is why I hate dealing with chains. I will stick to the spot down the street. We ordered the two for one margaritas, we knew it's only on the regular lime margaritas and regular price was $9.50 so two for one would still be $9.50, right? When our bill arrived we were charged $20.00 for the two margaritas, I said there was an error but our server insisted no error I said but this is not 2 for 1 he said we could call his boss, really, what good does that do me? How many times do you really look at your charges on your bill, we sure do. read more

The food is average. We went there because there is a server we like. However, we had a 25% off coupon (from an entertainment book purchased through our credit card company). The cashier couldn't figure out how to apply the discount. Told ME to call the owner. The owner said they would not honor the coupon. We definitely would not have gone there without the coupon- it's just not a great restaurant. After seeing another review where they refused to honor a discount coupon, I see that this is their dishonest way of drumming up business. We won't go back! read more

Great drink specials. The food was good, but nothing to write home about. I had the Wet Burrito. The red sauce was very taster but it was constructed oddly with lettuce on the inside of the burrito. I would record though for lunch or dinner as service was very friendly and quick. read more

Health department scores 100 and 98. Not sure which one is current but it is hard for an inspector not to find anything wrong so way to go guys. I will give five stars based on today's lunch. Nothing really blew me away but I just ordered from the lunch menu just to fill up. Cheese dip and salsa perfect. And salsa is not too cold. Service was incredibly quick. My plate was hot !!! There are several choices for 5.50 and several more for just $4.00!! The menu looked like it has everything you could ever ask for and had plenty of pictures and is easy to understand. Food was very good, but I have had better beans. They really spared no expense on this building and they hired some of the very best talent to decorated and paint the walls. It is really beautiful. This review was written from the perspective of eating a cheap lunch. If and when I return for a dinner with friends and order some real cooking,I may be a little more harsh, or I may be blown away. I was so excited to come back here after being out of the country for 2 years. SO disappointed when we walked in, were seated, ready to order, and then learned they didn't have running water! I understand restaurants have issues at times but dang it...talk about bad timing. We came back another time and were seated, ordered, and finished our meals. I can honestly say it wasn't as good as I remember. The fajitas we ordered to split were lacking in meat proportions and they tasted somewhat bland. Plus, I ordered a frozen strawberry margarita (something I rarely do) and returned it. It was not sweet and definitely not worth the money. My boys were happy with their meals on a good note. I am leaving it a 3 star for the time being. I would have easily given them a 4 star for past experiences, but I have to drop them down. I hope they can redeem themselves the next time we visit. read more

Ordered seafood fajitas that used to be great, they had large and small scallops and today no large ones. I asked the waitress & she took my plate to the kitchen to ask. She was told this was how it comes! It was fragments of over cooked tilapia! And about 6 tiny scallops, none of the large ones usually there. Only one large shrimp! They must be kidding to pay premium price for a fourth of what it's always been! The vegetables were a mess. Very disappointed because I was looking forward to it. I must agree with the majority and say that this place was a disappointment. I waited until the big opening crowds thinned out after a couple of weeks and me and my family ventured out one evening to give this place a try. Margaritas has spent a good deal of money on the decor and the redesign of the front of the building in a highly stylized fashion. I was soon to discover that they should have invested in better food and training for their employees. We got off on the wrong foot with these folks early on when one of the chairs which was needed for our party of 5 was found to have salsa spilled all over it. After calling it to someone's attention, and enduring several minutes of no response, I finally took care of it myself by swapping a chair from across the room and leaving the dirty chair turned backwards. No one at Margaritas mentioned it again, as it I had never called it to their attention. I ordered the chili relleno and it was just average. The beans and rice were terrible. The salsa was not memorable in any way. The rest of the family (5 of us) had equally dull or unremarkable dinners placed before them after a long delay. More expensive than the much better El Nopal down the street. They do have a nice big entryway though...which I will admire as I drive to their competitor's restaurant. read more

I had just been to a funeral near Oakland and really needed a good meal and company to lift my spirits !I met two girlfriends there for dinner! I went crazy over their salsa and chips! They brought us three baskets of chips and three jars of salsa! We loved it so much we barely had room for the main course! I loved my taco salad! They gave me so much beef in it I brought the rest home and just ate it for my dinner again tonight! Our waitress was so sweet and attentive ! Here's the best part! I didn't realize that I had left my sweater in the booth until tonight. I called and they found it and are saving it for me to come pick it up tomorrow . It would have easy for the waitress to just take it home with her and say they didn't find it! She didn't ! She was honest!!! I don't understand the bad reviews I read on here. I thought the food was delicious and I didn't smell the air freshener at all !! Wondering if some people are just trying to be funny when they made the comments about the dirty water! I certainly hope so !!! I'll pay better attention to the water the next time I go ! I didn't even drink water last night! I plan on going back and have told my friends how good the food was! The food was ok, the waitress was very good but the manager was a complete jerk! We had a $25 restaurant.com certificate and the cashier couldn't figure how to use it. So she proceeded to tell us to call the manager and he was very rude and even said that we were "threatening him" by saying we wouldn't come back to the restaurant. It wasn't a threat, it was a promise!!! We won't be back, not because of the service or the food but the management! He told us that we could leave our drivers license and go print the coupon off for him. We spent $90 and he wanted to argue for $45 about how we were trying to take advantage of him. A complete and total jerk that hopefully doesn't own the place, if so it needs to close, if he's a hired manager then he should be fired. Harassing the customer is NEVER a good option!!! read more

This was once my favorite restuarant. We used the coupon on visit and the girl didnt know how to do it. So she had us sign the receipt and put our phone number to have the manager call us...no one called. I called and long story short the manager Juan told me to bring receipt in and he'd give us the difference. We go in have supper...go to pay then ask about the refund..Juanln says next time you come in I'll give a free meal. Today we come in and I'm given the wrong entree...bring it back with same rice n beans cold :( Go to pay and the cashier calls Juan up...now its half off 1 meal..I dont like to be lied to. So off to find another favorite restuarant....Sad but Juan needs to learn customer service and to tell the truth..because he just lost my business after 3+ years :( read more

We are new to the Oakland area. Decided to eat at this place for lunch. We sat down order salsa and cheese and drinks. When the young Afrin feller brought out our water, the cup looked dirty. We looked into the cup and it looked like dirty dish water with pieces of shit floating in it. When we showed it to the feller. He acted very casual about it like it wasnt a big deal and just said "ill change it out" we asked AGAIN what was floating around in our cup And he just said ill change it out. It seemed like he knew what is was or this happens often bc he was so laid back about it.he brought us a new one but in the same cup.....! When he came back we told him we wanted to leave and he said ok and acted like this happens a lot and was no big deal. 1st time and last time to go here . read more

The food COULD be great--5-Star worthy. HOWEVER, the entire restaurant is bathed in the smell of strawberry/cherry bathroom air freshener. It's so strong it's like a gas! So strong in fact that you can taste it a little in the food, and the servers smell like it too. I often get the chili poblanos and they have this slight hint of strawberry/cherry in the taste. GET A CLUE AMIGOS!! The only way to avoid the smell is to eat outside on the patio. Like this restaurant, hate the smell. read more

I have written many times in my reviews that I LOVE Mexican food. I don't really know where to begin...... We saw it being built... Heard that it was very busy.... Should be good.... At my home builders meeting all my friends said, you may love "other Mexican restaurant" now but once you try Margaritas, the old place won't be your favorite any more". We decided to try it. 1.) Greasy chips but good salsa 2.) queso cheese dip was the same as you can get everywhere - from a can or plastic bag and heated 3.) I ordered the steak fajita nachos - there was exactly no fajita seasoning on the meat. There wasn't even any salt or garlic or any seasoning in the meat. It was very bland. I didn't read the menu well enough to realize that the entire dish would be covered in the same queso cheese sauce rather than a shredded cheddar or Colby or even a spicy yellow cheese with jalapeños. The chips on the bottom were extremely greasy. An hour later as I write this "margaritas revenge" threatens. 4.) my husband had the fish tacos. What can I say, he's from SoCal but this has never been a specialty in this area so I knew it was a mistake from the beginning. He said they were very bland until he poured the salsa on them. (I don't like salsa on fish tacos because it covers the flavor of the fish which is why you get fish tacos). But apparently these fish didn't have enough flavor. 5.) rice was very bland 6.) beans were very bland and appeared to be the same watered down version from a can. Not impressed. 7.) I couldn't find a single dish with charrizo (sp?) sausage at all. Generally the first time I visit a new Mexican restaurant I order 1 tamal, 1 chili relleno, rice and beans. If these are all done right and if they are tasty I will visit again and try other dishes. I broke this rule because the menu was so extensive. BIG MISTAKE! If they mess up the rice and beans, which for a southern girl, that's like messing up a good cornbread and black eyed peas, then can you really trust them to make anything else well? I don't think so. SO all you Fayette County home builders, I do not agree with you although I still love you all, El Nopal still has my vote for best Mexican food in Oakland (and Somerville for that matter). I DARE you to try the Molcajete at El Nopal, it's even better than most of my New Mexico favorites! Sorry Margaritas, it looks like you dumped a LOT of money into your place (the decor is quite nice and clean) It shows well and although I didn't try your restrooms I feel confident they were probably clean and well stocked because you are so new, but without the flavor of a good green chili, you don't get my repeat business. Question: many local Mexican restaurants have "Sopapillas" on their menus. WHY DOES NO LOCAL RESTAURANT KNOW HOW TO MAKE THEM????? there are no tortillas or cinnamon or chocolate sauce involved people! read more

Well if you're not so much into skinny and healthy, then might I recommend trying the #13 off the "mega multi meal" selection? I've never feared sleeping on the 13th floor of a hotel, Friday 13th, an Indestructible man/monster, or a Mexican combo meal that includes an over the top in taste all beef enchilada (with a red sauce that will make you wish you had just ordered the "enchilada meal") an all beef Burrito that slightly lighter version of the enchilada sauce but not as thick or robust in flav-a, and a BIG OLE over sized cheese STUFFED chili rellenos pepper. I a'nt scared of the jinx of silly number 13 nor should you be if your looking for an affordable Mexican meal that is sure to satisfy your cravings in the Oakland TN area at a price will not leave you feeling like you're wallet has been sucked dry by all so scary Count of Dracula. Enjoy yall, and make sure to tip your wait staff well, these guys and girls truly are working at a labor of love. One last very important thing....If you love the guacamole at places like Las Delouses, just ask for the manager and request hand made guacamole. He will usually go and prepare it by hand himself and will all pride let you know that this is what he serves at his own home to his family and friends. read more

Overall, it was an excellent meal. I ordered the carne asada, which was good but I wish there were a little more meat, but I am the huge guy with a big appetite. The rest of my party had no complaints about their meal. My dad loved his Carnitas. The salsa was a little weak but still had some flavor. The margaritas were wonderful. The service was okay; she was close by when we needed something. Also, I love a good Mexican restaurant with those history murals on the walls.
