Best in the business. Travis is helpful and accommodating no matter the size of the job.

Came in clutch! I lost my battery charger for my Nikon camera and what were the odds that they would have one. I didn't have to go over the hill and that right there deserves 5 stars!!! Not to forget, they really knew their stuff. I asked over the phone if they had it and he knew immediately! Time is money folks! read more

Spent 20 minutes trying to get files off an encrypted cd for me - helped me install the software for the disc player. Such a great local place with above and beyond service. read more

Anytime I need help w/any of my electronics, I race to Strawflower Electronics. Travis always has the answer to all my questions and is extremely helpful. I had an issue w/some color laser cartridges recently and he knew exactly what these were and why they didn't work. Instead of having to drive 30 minutes to San Mateo, I always want to check w/Travis first. Can't go wrong at his store!! read more

I don't shop there but if you have electronics that need repair, Bill is your man. Especially if it is something like my 1980s Nintendo machine and controller! He's a whiz at fixing things that you just don't wanna get rid of to buy something new. read more

If you're looking for confederate flags, ya know, to honor your southern roots, check this place out. I hear that the big box stores stopped selling them so I guess these guys figured, why not fill the need... ?? Small fabric as well as shiny stickers! Their selection of other items, actual electronics and accessories, is lacking and overpriced. The 99¢ store next door has some of the same items for much less (obviously). Also, they mark up eBay items like 200%. For these two reasons, I'll never spend another penny there. read more

I had an old Bose system and wanted to hook it up again to my tv and dvd player. I also wanted to add a turntable, Bluetooth for playing music from my iPhone, and headphones. I know zero about electronics, but Travis patiently and expertly guided me through purchasing the right components and connecting them all up. It was much less expensive and more sustainable than buying a whole new system. I learned a lot, and now we have a terrific entertainment center. I highly recommend Travis! read more

Strawflower is a great resource for electronics on the Coastside. These guys have just about everything! I just needed a couple phone holders that we could mount on tripods to do live streams for high school sports, and Travis took care of everything. Competitive prices, fantastic service, and these guys know what works. A+ experience! read more

Since son Travis took over the business (after pop died too soon), the service has gotten better! I ordered a part, was told to give it a few days, but then got a call the very next day to say the part had arrived. What? Really? And there it was. Travis is sharp and knowledgeable and will steer you to what you need on the fly, while Kurt is fixing about anything in back. Highly recommended if you are not sure what electronic piece of the puzzle you need. Also, their reburbished monitors and desktops, etc. are excellent deals. I say why pay $1000. at Best Buy when you can get it for $150. at SE! Love that this store is still in our community. read more

Pretty good selection for materials. I was in the area and was searching for a place that had an Ethernet cord and a AC/DC car adapter splitter for my IPOD and my GPS. They had it in stock, it is in this strip mall area adjacent from the Payless Drug store. They had a pretty decent selection on computer parts and accessories as well, it's a good option if your in the area, I combed the streets looking for an electronics shop when I was passing through Half Moon Bay and didn't want to have to turn around and drive back to San Mateo. The employees here were friendly enough, a little bit on the light side staff wise, so be patient, they'll get to you as soon and possible, and considering that there aren't any other shops that cater to this area, their prices are pretty reasonable. read more

While staying at the Ritz Carlton for a while, I idiotically decided to climb on of the tiny cliffs overlooking the water. Sadly, the waves decided to get a little frisky and blow me over. My sad phone died that day in my jeans so I was ready to go anywhere possible to replace it as soon as possible. Starflower Electronics had a very very very limited supply of T-mobile phones. It was between this older phone and a supremely older phone. I was overpriced for the phone I got and wish they had a better selection. They were very helpful, though, and that took the sting out of having to downgrade with this shite phone. read more

1. Good stock of new items, electronics, supplies, even guitar picks and strings. 2. Their consignment area seems overpriced with oddball items no one would ever want like Used Computer Printers for $200+ and ancient TV's and Stereo gear LOL! I avoid that area. BUT 3. The owner is a real warm guy, so is his son, it's family owned. And their both knowledgeable and chill. read more

I have been a regular custoner of this business for thirty years, and have tolerated the rude attitude of the owner (the employees are usually friendly) because I wanted to support a small local business. I can't remember the last time I was greeted or thanked. I'm done. I've had it. Yesterday the owner actually yelled at me because I didn't know a particular detail about my computer. I encounter enough rudeness in my life without having to actually pay for it. read more

Awesome electronic service. Kind, quick, and efficient. Bought used DVD Player that works like a dream! They have underwater Casio watches with 1 minute, 3 minute, 5 minute, 20 and 30 minute preprogrammed alarm. They have all sorts of batteries. They have duplicated cassette recordings to disk for me. The prices are reasonable and the transaction is always straightforward with no surprises! read more

Radio Shack for the modern world and HMB. A family owned business that has things no one else can provide on the Coastside. No, they may not be the cheapest, but if you need an XLR to RCA adapter there is nowhere else on the coast where you will find that. Plus, the owner(s) are friendly, nice, they don't berate people for being stupid, and it is a business you know you can support with confidence. read more

Broke my phone while fixing it. I overpaid to get my screen (iPhone 6) replaced here, and now the home button is loose. Apparently there's nothing SE can do to fix the issue they created. They also didn't offer a refund or coupon or apology. So I would definitely not recommend them. read more

Five stars means these guys are exemplary - at the top of their game in computer repair, amazing turn-around time, ethics and fair (beyond fair) pricing. I look forward to doing business with them again, if I ever need to. I can't rate them highly enough. You go, Strawflower Guys!! You *know* what you're doing!! Thank you!! read more

Old-school level expertise here, and pretty comprehensive inventory. Also excellent at installations.

I've just installed my first CB radio in my truck (for off road communication NOAA weather and channel 9 only, honest!) being a complete newbie on this stuff I needed help to tune the antenna. Apparently you need a SWR meter to do this, not something you can pick up at Radio shack. The owner of the store took time to personally come out to my truck in the parking lot and walk me through the procedure to tune my set using the stores own SWR meter ($15 to rent). It turns out that I have a faulty ground on the set up. I offer to pay him and he turns down my money, "pay me later when you get it fixed" he says. Now that is customer service, these guys rock. I fact I was so impressed I went back the next day and spent $200 in the store on some other electronics I needed instead of going to Radio shack. Support your local coastal stores, they support you! read more

Ben and the guys at Strawflower has always been very helpful with me every time I go in. They know there stuff. We are pretty isolated here on the coast and its nice to be able to shop local when we need anything dealing with electronics and cabling. Great job guys. read more

Four well-deserved stars for an excellent repair job and advice on dealing with the aftermath of a power surge that fried our beloved Sony receiver of 10+ years. The owner and his staff are experts and dispense advice well, even to non-specialists like us. They fixed our Tivoli Model One radio and did so at a fair price. There is a reason why local businesses are such important parts of a community like HMB. The range of new and used electronics is impressive. Truly a mecca for all things electronic. read more

Strawflower Electronics is great. I've used them for lots of things. Printer ink. Printers. CO2 detectors. Smashing old hard drives. Pretty much anything electronic, they help me with! Strawfower Electronics is a wonderful 'get it in Half Moon Bay' resource. I went to buy a replacement power source for my laptop. I was working on a rush job and I didn't want to take the time to drive over the hill for it. Not only was the young man behind the counter pleasant and helpful and quick, instead of selling me a $50 item that I didn't need, he let me know it was only the $10 part that needed replacement. I'll be happy to go to them for my electronic needs. read more

I was really sorry when the owner, Ben, suddenly passed away a few months ago. He had been a valuable resource for me over many years & a pleasant man with whom to deal & answered questions & solved many problems. His son, Eric (?), is also very helpful & is following in the footsteps of his dad. The technician, Kurt, lacks in personality but makes up for it in his technical expertise. It is really nice to have this long-time business available here on the coast & has saved us many "over-the-hills" trips! read more

The customer service here is terrible and the employees are rude. The the products are for the most part out dated and when I went in to have my computer cleaned they somehow managed to drastically reduce the speed of it read more

Horrible customer service. I came in on Monday, to find out if they could repair my computer that had missing screws and the nice guy said that his tech guy was not here and I should come back tomorrow, and I was fine with that. So I came in on Tuesday and a different guy was there and had a very poor attitude. He accused me and said someone took my whole computer apart and he kept complaining. I told him that was not the case and he said then it must have been dropped. Instead of helping me he was accusing me of what happened to my computer. He told me that it would cost $45 to repair and the computer still might not work after it was repaired. I told him okay and then the tech guy came and they were just complaining how much work it would be to repair and how long it would take they said it was "an hour worth of work" and before they would say it would take 30 minutes, now it is going to take one hour, and then he said it might be ready tomorrow. Then after I signed the paper to get it repaired I said it is $45 right? Just to make sure it was $45 and he said it could be more money and they would call me if it is more money which was very frustrating because he said it was $45. When I called them after I left the store, he had a bad attitude, again. He also mentioned again that someone took it apart or dropped it. Then he raised his voice and was rude. He also said it might be ready tomorrow. I said I would take my computer back. When I took my computer back the rude guy would not look at me and the nice guy gave me back the computer and was very polite. I do not recommend taking something in for a repair. I will take my business elsewhere. read more
