AAaaaaaaaahhhhhh!!!! I love these guys!!!! We had Comcast for the longest time, and stupid me set us up for automatic billing because I was sick of trying to navigate their online payment system. I think they make it a pain in the ass on purpose because they hate humanity in general and their company bigwigs nourish themselves on the mental anguish of their customers. Anyway, one fine day I was looking over our credit card statement and noticed that our Comcast monthly bill had just magically bumped itself up from the neighborhood of $45 to over $70. What in the fresh fuck?! Thanks for the heads-up, assholes. So I got ahold of Steve (hi Steve, you are awesome) at Coastside Net and he set us up with their Surflink package which also includes a home phone in addition to interwebs (I haven't had a landline phone for like 10 years, whee!). Screw Comcast....now we're back to paying something like $45 a month and our internet speed and reliability are vastly improved. Downloading Brazilian fart porn has never been so easy!! Wait, forget I said that. Anyway, I highly recommend these guys! And it's an added bonus that we can feel good about supporting a local business instead of big raunchy corporate Comcast. read more

We love Coastside Net- it's soooo inexpensive compared to other companies and works much better in my opinion. We hardly ever have issues with our fast internet and are heavy users of Netflix, HBO GO, Showtime Anytime, etc. I've had services through Comcast, Verizon DSL, and Time Warner in the past and every single one of those providers lost contracts with my family because of how badly the companies were ran. This small, local internet service provider is amazing and is one of my favorite things about living in HMB actually. I mean, if this town isn't going to give young people a one screen movie theater (WHY NOT FOR THE LOVE OF GOD!?) or adequate places to shop at least we have fast and cheap internet, right? Unbelievable service! I recently moved from So. Cal. and am so used to big corporations that don't care about you, or your service. What a switch to Coastside! I called Tech Support when I wasn't seeing my internet starting up when it should have, and not only did I receive help, I got it in the form of an employee at my house less than ten minutes after my phone call. Before I knew it he had my internet up and running and was giving me tidbits about the area. This company has fantastic employees and great service. My internet runs great and is SO inexpensive. It's surprising to me that everyone is not using them! Why would anyone pay hundreds of dollars a month for Comcast or AT&T when a great local company offers the same service (with exemplary staff!) for WAY less than $100? We've been using Coastside.net for a few months now for web hosting. They are fantastic. We took control of our website and needed webhosting services. I was going to go with godaddy, but looked around Half Moon Bay, as I wanted to keep my business local. It turns out the Coastside.net is cheaper than Godaddy! They are professional and pleasant to work with. They ALWAYS get back to me. I usually communicate with them by email, and I get a response the same day. We got Coastside.net seven or so years ago, and then it was GREAT! Much better than our previous provider, perfect for E-Mail, casual flash gaming, a download or two. Then file sizes got bigger, video streaming became the norm and many others joined coastside.net. It now sucks. We have the 'wireless' plan which operates off the big antenna in the center of Half Moon Bay, located behind the 'tortellini originali' place, so I can understand why 3-4 miles away in miramar, the service degrades from what is sated on their website. As of the time of writing, I'm getting 1.4 mbps download and 0.74 upload. Barely usable by today's standards. Many-a-time has my work been prohibited by their bad service and speed drops to slower than dial-up. I have not tried their fiber optic cable due to service being limited to less than 1000 feet from mainstreet. I live four miles away, but would love to upgrade to this sooooooo much. Instead, I must now turn to the evil comcast to get a somewhat decent connection not far from Silicon Valley, ouch. Coastside.net - If you are reading this: Expand your network and get better speeds, they aren't adequate to 2013 standards. If you could Google Fiber this town, that'd be amazing. read more

Not only reliable internet, but great support. On the rare occasion where there is a glitch (2x/year), they have answered their phones and resolved it within 10 minutes to 2 hours. Best 'support' I've had for an internet service. Plus we have their minimum service and can still stream 2 Netflix movies at the same time. read more

Our experience with them has been non-existent. We signed up online for their service, to have the equipment delivered, and for them to install it. Two weeks later we have yet to receive the equipment, an email notification, or a letter acknowledging their new customers. I called them and left a message and three days later have not received a response. I came by during business hours twice and there wasn't anyone there and there wasn't sign explaining why they were closed during their business hours (i.e. out to lunch, back at 13:00). I have been with them for about 4 years now. There was a time they were a decent company to do business with. Over the past couple of years the service has gotten worse and worse. The only time to get decent speed is in the early morning. The office will pay attention to you and your needs until you leave their office. By the next week they will have forgotten their agreements with you. If you want bare bones internet access, really do not care about speed, have money to burn they are the people you want. As an alternative to the phone and cable companies they are not any better at providing quality service at a reasonable price. Perhaps, they are better in HMB than Pacifica. We have been using coastside.net for few months now. The speed and performance of Internet connection with their commercial bonded ADSL is amazing. It beats AT&T and Comcast hands down. So I moved to Pacifica and had a lot of trouble with AT&T getting my internet turned on. I looked up other services and found Coastside Net. They switched over my service in a week and sent me a free wi-fi box until I got my DSL equipment. Then they sent me the wrong equipment, but credited my account and sent someone to hand deliver me the right equipment. Best customer service ever! read more

Service was fine for about 1 year however for the past 6 weeks internet access is shut off for ~ 6 hours/day ~midnight to 6:00 AM. This is not acceptable for those of us that work for international companies and need internet communication 24/7 read more

I have been a customer of Coastside.net for several years, first at my home, then I added service for my office. The service and support from Rob and Steve has been first rate, and I cannot recommend them highly enough. Quick to pick up the phone, always willing to take the time to help, AND, a couple of times they have made quick trips over to my house or office to check things out in person. Where in the world do you EVER get service like that?!? The internet service itself is extremely fast and reliable (way better than any of the other options I've tried like AT&T and Comcast) and now I even use their phone service and it includes all my calls with no extras for long distance. Horrible service and horrible service... Super slow, constantly out and the guy is extremely hard to reach and very proficient in ignoring you. When I needed internet I contacted them asking about service where I lived, happy to hear that they have 20mps (so I thought) I signed up for their service. They installed a modem (overpriced, but I accepted thinking it would be worth it) and soon I realized the internet was horribly slow. I tried contacting them and the misery started... I could not get a hold of the guy, left a couple voicemails and sent emails and nothing... when he finally responded he blatantly said "we don't have 20mbps where you are, only 5mbps". ok, then why did you not tell me that before I signed up?? When I asked him that, plus told him that most of the time I was not even getting 1mbs (even clocked 0.2mbps at one point) and why I would have to pay the same price as someone with 20mbps (speedtest.net) again, no response (of course). After a couple emails and phone calls he finally decided to respond telling me that I paid the same price because it was harder to get the internet all the way out where I live... That is a load of BS because: 1) I live in Half Moon Bay, where his company is, I do NOT live "all the way out there", but most importantly: 2) My landlord actually was the one PAYING for the internet pole to be placed on the hill (he paid $10k for that!!) so that we could all get internet! Rob from coastside.net NEVER ever paid a dime to place those poles yet he was receiving all the profit from everyone who was "benefitting" from the crappy internet from this pole. And if you ask me he was just too stingy to put a proper modem on that pole as well, resulting in slow service. This is just MY shitty story about him. There are many things he pulled out of greediness and laziness. Another (first hand) story for instance, when it rains, and the generator of the internet poles runs out of fuel, he is too lazy to go out in the rain (even though this is his job, that is what we pay for when signing up for his service) to refill them, so you are stuck without internet FOR DAYS often. And the signal is so crappy especially when it is foggy or rains, I'm convinced, like I said before he has the cheapest modem with the weakest signal (to save power) it just does not hold up. Needless to say I canceled my service, and unfortunately but not surprisingly that too was a pain in the b**t as you might imagine since he is so good at avoiding your emails and calls. I had to stop payment through my bank after all my emails and voicemails just to make sure he did not take my money out of my bank account after that. I have been with this provider since I moved to HMB (Nearly 8 years!) and up until a few weeks ago when I upgraded to the iPhone 5s they were decent if not somewhat short with me when I needed help. Now, I can literally see them rolling their eyes when I have to leave yet another message for assistance. Then they don't even bother to call me back. Steve and Rob do not have the best bedside manners when it comes to those of us who are not "tech heads" and for $35 per month, it's not worth it. Also, buyer beware. Their server isn't always dependable. They had issues with it just a few days ago. Despite my reservations and desire to keep "local" business' in business, I'm moving to another provider next week. Thanks Coastside Net for making me have to jump ship and spend extra money to switch. But if I can receive better service, it will be worth it. read more

When your business needs to be connected to the internet at all times, it is nice to have a live person to talk to by the third ring to tell you why the internet is down. Unfortunately, over the past year or so, I've had continuous problems with my www access (DSL). It goes through days of solid performance, then days of intermittent access. Throughout this time, the folks at Coastside.net have been responsive and attentive to the issue. They have maintained a strong customer service attitude even with my multiple calls to their office, and their visits to my home to troubleshoot the problem. They recently changed the type of service I am receiving, which provides for better diagnostics, and have identified an outside wire problem (now escalated to AT&T). Great service!!! read more
