Not sure how this web designer gets so many 5 star reviews, I had the displeasure to meet him once and although the estimate he gave me at the time was reasonable, Max ended up trying to increase the cost of the price using childish excuses that were hard to believe. I ended up ditching him and using another local company that I believe no longer exists. Not sure these guys are still open, I called a couple of times and yet I can't get hold of anyone. I wouldn't be surprised if they shut down; most of the local web design businesses closed for good, at least in SF. I used a few of them for updates back in 2016-2017 but none of them are available right now despite having active Yelp listings. Anyway, In the past I did spoke to Max on the phone and he was courteous (ended up hiring another firm), but now I am interested in hiring him to build a website for a startup. I had an awful experience with Max Elman from Razorfrog. I contacted Max to get a new website for my new business. In an attempt to sell me his services Max maliciously used someone else's work as his own. The website Max showed me was created by another web designer who I contacted and said he was not related to Max in any way. So how did I contact Max? I browsed his portfolio in the past and there was a website I really liked. I wanted something similar. Max never designed or developed that website, he did build another website for the same company but that was several years ago. As we engaged in conversations regarding the project, Max became aware that the website I wanted was not the one he had designed; however, Max played the fool, hoping that I was not going to realize that he was never involved in the development of the website I was inquiring about. He knew I was talking about a different site. For each specific question I made about that specific website Max gave me vague answer. I asked "did you build this website from scratch or is a template?" and the answer I received was "We build frame works and spend several hours customizing them". All my questions received similar vague answers, never responding to my specific question but responding to the type of work Max provides. He did the same in several occasions, never answered to my specific questions. It was obvious that he had not designed the website. While we were discussing the project Max surprisingly removed the site from his portfolio. This followed the same pattern I could notice from the beginning of our conversation. At the end I gave my the chance to apologize for lying but he could not help himself and tried to cover his lies with more lies. I wonder how many people have been ripped off by MAX ELMAN. Thanks god, I did not fall for it and I could realize who I was dealing with and ended up cancelling my project with this guy. read more
