It was a cute diner with a local's vibe. Staff was friendly and accommodating. My wife isn't a big eater, so she was happy to find a pancake combo with just one pancake, one egg, one bacon, and one sausage. She said her meal was perfect. I ordered the chilaquiles, and honestly, they were the best I can remember having. The chips still had some crunch instead of being overly soggy, and the house-made green sauce was delicious. It also came with rice (which was outstanding), beans, red sauce, and a little lettuce with tomato and sour cream. I left completely satisfied and full. This will definitely be a stop for us if we're ever traveling that way again. I'd happily return--and highly recommend it. read more

The restaurant is clean and recently renovated in the last year. The service was wonderful as usual. Our drinks were never empty and each visit to our table from staff was accompanied by a smile. Today I had the waffle combo (waffle, 2 eggs, meat) and my friend had the Popeye omelette. The popeye omelette was full of spinach, cheese, and was light and fluffy. The waffle combo was delicious. I have always wanted to eat here but it has never worked out until now. We stopped for breakfast in on a cold windy day and kept our coats on the whole time we were in here. That was a bit of a downer. I had the Vegie Quesada and my wife had the Breakfast Skillet and she enjoyed it. The Quesada had good flavor and was just the right size but the beans got cold before I could finish them. We would stop in for another try, but on a warmer day. I've driven past this place quite a few times since I do the drive between Vegas and Reno quite a bit, so I've always been curious. I decided to finally take the plunge and break up one of my road trips. When you go in here, the atmosphere is nice and homely, in a good way. It definitely feels as though it's been owned by the same family for years. The staff was super nice and friendly, and seating/ service was very prompt. While the people were super nice, the food really was just ok. I went with what was recommended and tried the chicken fried chicken and pancakes. I like to believe Im pretty easy to please when it comes to pancakes, but these tasted like Dennys pancakes. The breading on the chcienf didn't have much flavor. The saving grace was the gravy, I pretty much made sure to slather just about every bite in it. The food wasn't bad, but it wasn't good. Looking at other reviews, I might need to try the lunch items such as the burgers and milkshakes, but in regards to the breakfast foods, mid is the most apt description I can give it. I purposely drove to the North end of Tonopah to try out Strawberry Hill diner. From the hotel I'm at in the middle of town, it's about 1 mile north. Whether you walk or drive here, I can say it will be well worth it. If all the meals are like my breakfast today, then come hungry or be prepared to have a takeout box. My dilemma when trying a new place is what exactly to try first. Although the cinnamon pancakes or the apple pancakes sounded yummy, I wasn't in the mood for a sweet treat breakfast, so I opted for my go to Denver Omellete. The portion was 2 eggs worth and very well made. Complimented by wheat toast and excellent hash browns along with a nice cup of joe, the dining experience left me stuffed and satisfied! Service was excellent in a rather cozy booth that I sat in. There is plenty of seating inside to accommodate many people, and I noticed larger vehicles parking along side Hwy 95 as the parking lot is rather limited to vehicle size. read more

My fellow Yelpers helped us find this road trip diner in the middle of Tonopah, Nevada. Small town diner with excellent service, cooks and staff. Everyone was very friendly and checked on us regularly. The restrooms were clean. The restaurant is rustic, nothing fancy but very clean. Extensive breakfast and lunch choices. The food was fresh and hot. The portions were large. We ordered the big daddy breakfast which came with three eggs, toast, with crispy bacon and hash browns and the Popeye's Benedict which included spinach, mushrooms and tomatoes on the Benedict. The hash browns were crispy and the poached eggs cooked perfectly. They refilled our iced tea in to-go cups for us. Two full breakfast plates and two iced teas for $31.19. Extremely reasonable. If you want a yummy diner meal that is fresh and hot this is a great place. We will stop in again on our way back through town. read more

Large platter of corn tortilla triangles heated up in a very tasty green chile sauce. Covered in cheese and served with refried beans and rice. 2 nice fried eggs on top, perfect. The food here is some of the best you'll get in Tonopah. The service is usually top notch. However there are definitely a few employees that are nicer than others. If you like chicken and waffles I recommend the coconut chicken and waffles, it's the best. Cons: The biggest complaint I have for this place is that there are very few places to park due to the housing next to it. The hamburger and cheeseburger were the best we have ever had, and we are both over 60! Made with freshly hand-made patties, NOT out of a box, toasted buns, fresh lettuce and tomato, pickles, and sweet onion. The french fries are equally good with some sort of crunchy addition on the outside, maybe parmesan cheese but I didn't ask. The diner is clean, sparsely decorated but nice, smells good when you walk in, and the waiters are friendly. When I spoke to the owner, he was making fresh patties and said the beef was black angus.
