I had both dinner and breakfast at this place while passing through, and was amazed how good it was. Most of the food is simple, but it's prepared perfectly. The family running the place was so friendly they made us feel like we'd made new friends there, For dinner we had the chili and a jalapeno burger. The chili was great - closer to the kind of chili you'd find at a chili cook-off than a restaurant. The burger was tasty, and the flavors were well balanced. The breakfast was even better. After tasting the chili for dinner, I got a chili and cheese omelet, and my GF got the chicken fried steak. Both were very large portions, but they were so good we cleaned our plates. Also the hash browns were absolutely amazing. This is now going to be a stop we make every time we pass through here. Honestly if this place were in Vegas I'd be eating there every day. read more

We were passing through town and it was really friggen' cold, so we opted to grab some food in between exploring. I ordered the club, while my friend got one of the last two veggie burgers. The food was good ol' diner comfort food, and the service was very pleasant. - with some tips of places to check out while in town. Only thing I'll say is that they were likely understaffed and they were cooking one table order at a time, which meant we waited about 30-35 minutes for ours. If I could give this place negative stars, I would. My wife and 3 year old daughter were passing thru earlier this week on the way to Vegas, and decided to stop in for breakfast at this local joint. Before my daughter could even walk around the place and look at the decor, the cook in back (presumably the owner) screamed at my wife to keep my daughter from "touching [her] shit," and essentially told my wife to keep my daughter (who is a naturally curious 3 year old with special needs) confined to her chair. A few times when my daughter would look at and play with the child sized Pac-Man arcade game, the cook would angrily cut the game off. The server was a sweetheart and was trying to go above and beyond to salvage my wife's and daughter's experience, but it didn't change the fact that this cook/owner was being an absolute horse's ass. And on top of that, the food was horrible. I got to hear about this through my wife's tears afterward. It's such a shame, because our experiences in other establishments in Goldfield throughout the years have been so overwhelmingly positive. We will visit those other establishments. But we won't spend another dime in the Dinky Diner. read more

Goldfield put me in mind of The Twilight Zone in oh so many ways. That's not to say I didn't fall in love with the town, I did! The Dinky Diner made me think of the Twilight Zone episode where Barney Phillips is a cook (alien) and has a third eye lurking under his toque. No one in the DD had a third eye, or at least not one in the same location as Barney did back in '61. I did see a guy who looked like Jack Elam. Wait. No. Three guys who looked like Jack. I'm surprised that I haven't reviewed The Dinky Diner before. We have been going here for years. The food is always really tasty and the service always great. I especially love their burgers and fries. The other day I picked the Patty Melt and it was perfect on some wonderful Marble Rye. The Fries are always on point, too. I also recommend the Chili Burgers and Mushroom Swiss. It's a no frills place with good hometown cooking and definitely worth the stop. read more

Every time I come into town Dinkys is a must for me. Small moms and pops diner. The restaurant is small but cozy and the service is ok. However I haven't been disappointed in the food as far but today I wasn't warned that there is raw onions in the house salad and I'm highly allergic to them so that wasn't good at all. Wish it did mention that on the menu but other than that food was goodWhen they have their BBQs, it's so delicious, maybe not fall off the bone, but still very good flavor. Love small restaurants like this. Prices are still AMAZING and at least they are not price gouging the public. Kudos to the owner for keeping it homely and affordable. read more

We were able to order quickly, the food was delivered in a timely manner, hot and delicious. The food was definitely fresh and quality. The BLT had thick bacon. The fries were hot out of the fryer. Yes, it's dinky alright but the food and service is huge in stature! Was in Goldfield on a saturday, May 2nd exploring the cemetery, hotel, and the International Car Forest of the Last Church with a friend and her kids. As the late afternoon came around we were all very hungry. A search on Yelp brought us here. Good thing we showed up when we did right at 3:30. The lady at the pick up window(due to the corona virus issue) told us that she closes at 4 pm. At first, after looking over the menu, the kids wanted pizza. The lady said no can do. They had no more fresh dough to make it since it was close to closing time. So all all the kids ended up getting were cheeseburgers which comes with fries. I ended up getting the Whiskey Burger($15). This burger comes with a nice half pound Beef Patty, Mushrooms, Grilled Onions, Bacon, Swiss Cheese, and House made Whiskey Barbeque Sauce. The bun itself had different kinds of sesame seeds on which was really good. At first before the burger was served I was thinking to myself, "Man, this better be a really good burger for 15 bucks!" But as soon as I opened the box I was definitely blown away by the size of it. You have the option of adding mustard or ketchup to it which she gives you separately. After picking up the bun to see what was inside I was blown away at the huge strips of bacon that was on there. I think I counted like 4 strips. The mushrooms and onions were sauteed perfectly. Omg my mouth is watering right now as I finished typing the last sentence. All the burgers come with fries which were decent. Service was very good. Although it took awhile for the food to cook, it was well worth the wait. The lady brought it out to us in to go containers. In the end we were all more than satisfied with our late lunch. Make sure to ask for a kids menu for it is not posted up on the wall. Ever since that day I cant seem to stop thinking about that Whiskey Burger. This little diner in the town of Goldfield doesn't seem like much but the food was really good. We arrived kind of late not knowing that it closed earlier than usual so got some last minute service but it wasn't too bad. They do have a kids menu so my 3 children all got the burgers. They give them to you with just the meat, cheese and bun and kids have the option of adding mustard and ketchup themselves. It came with fries as well. I ordered the bacon cheese burger and it was very good. Tasted like a home cooked burger with quality ground beef. It came with meat, cheese, bacon (not the flimsy kind but the home cooked kind), lettuce and tomatoes. It came with a side of fries. The fries were a bit greasy for my liking and had a softer texture not real crunchy. The service was a bit rushed because we did come late but the people seemed sweet. The Dinky Diner has small town charm, as well as tasty food going for them. However, they have easily the worst coffee I have ever tasted in my life. My cup of Joe looked very watered down, and it pretty much tasted like someone added a small hint of coffee flavor to another wise big cup of hot water. Sadly, the iced tea suffered from the same treatment: thinly flavored water. My food, however, was great. The sausage omelet was well made, and stuffed with a lot of meat. It was a decent size, not too big or small. My whole wheat toast came pre-buttered, which was nice, and the cottage fries (breakfast potatoes) tasted good as well. Each table has a few paperback books of jokes, and reading them was a fun way to pass the time. The wait time was a little ridiculous, especially considering the place was near empty. I'm not sure if I would stop by and dine at The Dinky Diner again, but I will say that I'm glad I was able to try them out. read more
