As reviewed by a 9 yr old: Simple food, great service. The place itself has a rustic feeling, and even has a pool table and slots. Although the cheese fries are meh - the chili itself tastes like spaghetti sauce with beans- the jalapeños and ranch made it tastier. The burger was nothing like the chili fries. I got the big bubba burger, and it was great! The patties were flavorful and the bread is toasted! We also got other items: a club sandwich, onion rings, and mozzarella sticks. I've eaten here several times. And no I didn't eat here because my car broke down. My brother lives down the road. The service can be slow but what else do you have to do here? Typical burgers etc but on Wednesdays be sure to stop in for their Indian taco night. Nice place for really being in the boonies. There's gas across the street so fill up before you leave for Vegas or Yosemite. Stick to the burgers and you'll be fine. This place isn't known for the food but it is a great spot to get local color and there isn't any other choice! A lot depends on who is in the kitchen. My buddy wanted me to send a review in for this restaurant. He mentioned it was one of the best burgers he has had in as long as he can remember. He told me, he and his girlfriend, stumbled onto the restaurant onto the way back to Las Vegas from San Fransisco. Not only were the burgers the best, the proprietor came out to check on them, and was more than hospitable. I look forward to finding this little gem personally. read more

OK, I'm totally basing this review on the people!!! Besides, food is only as good as the people that cook/serve it. I've eaten at 5 star locations and been served by sucky people. So, for the young lady behind the bar being a perfect bartender.....you were representing pretty good for the establishment. No, you didn't serve me a cold beer but what you did do was greet me and my husband with a smile and kind words. You called us "kind people" and ask that angel sitting at the bar if he could assist us with getting us some gas. And for the gentleman/angel that unlocked the pumps after hours because we didn't have a credit card, just cash. You rock. We were in an RV with my 79 year old mother and my dog. With the RV running on fumes we could have camped along side the road until the next morning when things open......but you had kindness in your heart to see us three weary travelers get back on the road to Yosemite. I thank you two and your wonderful grill and service station. And if we ever find ourselves along your way we will stop and eat. Shawn and Sierra (owners) saved us. We were en route to the Eureka Dunes when we got rained out, our car couldn't make it past the washed away roads. We randomly happened on the boonies in hopes of some direction, instead we found incredible hosts. The food is AWESOME, the community is very nice, and I look forward to going back. read more

We were driving home from Vegas and were just about to run out of gas when we happened upon the small town of Dyer. We screamed "success!" when we saw the 2 pump gas station. After filling up, we looked across the street, saw a dive bar shaded by trees and decided to check it out. We walked into the bar and saw a sign saying "Easter Buffet $6.95" and we were sold. The girl at the bar said to help ourselves to the table in the back. The kitchen was closed for the holiday, but a home cooked meal awaited us in the back. There was chicken, ham, beans (delish), potato salad, hard boiled eggs, coleslaw, watermelon and cookies. Everything was AMAZING. As we sat down with our food and grabbed some pink lemonade, we were greeted by a puppy named Shorty. He stayed near us the entire time, hoping for a handout. The staff (2 people) were super friendly and helpful and the food was by far better than anything we'd had on our vacation. If I'm ever heading through Dyer again, I will definitely go to The Boonie's. read more

Stopped here on a motorcycle ride. Great Burgers and fries and for sure don't pass on the deep fried pickles with your ice cold beer! Will definitely ride here again just for lunch. read more
