I have enjoyed Straw Hat Pizza in Exeter for the past five years. Last night unfortunately, that changed. We ordered a large 3 topping pizza, with the discounted coupon it cost $23. I was at once reminded of Chuck E Cheese pizza as I lifted the box lid. For those of us who remember their pizzas weren't surprised by the lack of quality. It was expected. You were paying for the experience of the little ones so you ate bad pizza. Our pizza was also reminiscent of "Drive In - Movie" pizza - the smell being the best part of a less than satisfying dining experience. Our pizza was insignificantly smeared with sauce, and the only accurate way to describe the cheese was sparse. I no longer frequent Chuck E Cheese. My kids are grown. Drive In Theaters are merely nostalgic. I prefer tasty pizza. I write this review in hopes that my experience was a fluke. Perhaps a busy night or new staff members. read more

The cashier was super nice and super friendly and great! The pizza is super huge and tasted fresh with a huge array of delicious toppings like bell pepper, pepperoni and sausage. I ordered The Works. The food was fresh and hot. We ordered hot wings. They were delicious. We also purchased two salad bars very fresh they make homemade ranch dressing. The service was wonderful. Tried the pizza and the wings. Wings were pretty fatty and pretty light on actual meat. Not very flavorful either. Pizza was at least a bit better. First off... Alexis there sucks, not great to leave a review when you're actively IN the restaurant fuming over what was most likely a mistake. Now, I'm giving this place 5 stars because I like it and would like to see it stay open because I believe this straw hat to be above your average straw hat but, the staff here is severely undertrained. They are usually overwhelmed and I've seen them make mistake after mistake. My advice? How about we staff a couple of adults. Delicious pizza! I found Straw Hat Pizza when my toddler requested pizza for lunch. The kids went crazy in the arcade, the pizza was bomb and Kristie, our server, was super sweet and helpful. We've found our new favorite pizza joint anytime we're in Exeter. I highly recommend. read more

I ordered "the works" and substituted the bell peppers with jalepenos. The pizz was really great. Soft crust, savory toppings, and plenty of them. The girl at the register was sweet and accommodating. Also, great beer selection (but I did not dine in). Best pizza, hands down. Round Table, Me-N-Ed's, and all the other chains do not even compare. The others have gone down in quality and they're never consistent. With Straw Hat, I always know what to expect. And they're not greedy with their toppings. For example, with Round Table (Porterville) I order green bell peppers on my pizza and they put maybe one or two (if I'm lucky) small strips on each slice. Only bad thing about Straw Hat Pizza is that they don't have a restaurant in Porterville. read more

I drove from Lindsay thinking I was gonna get a quality product. I checked on the pizza and it looked like a baby made it. One mushroom on each slice.i went back in and talked to the guy who made it. Sadly, stopped ordering from them years ago. Not because the pizza is bad, but because of customer service. I don't know if it was the owner, or what but she was rude often. Especially,calling for a delivery. If my memory is correct, they don't deliver until after 6pm. Have never been a fan of the pizza here and this afternoon I remember why. I came in for the lunch buffet with my friend only to be told that it ends at 2. The large signs all over the store say that the lunch buffet is good until 3pm. When my friend and I brought this to the lady taking our orders attention she seemed embarrassed, flustered and unsure what to do or say. My friend told her that if they advertise until 3 then they should honor it. She just replied sheepishly, that it's management's fault for not changing the time on their menus and signs. I ended up ordering 2 small salads from the salad bar and a personal pepperoni pizza. The salad was the crappiest display I have ever seen at a pizza joint, and that's saying something. Semi wilted lettuce, olives, chopped eggs, cheese, dressings and potato salad was all that they offered at the salad bar. No tomatoes, bell peppers, onions, carrots or any other salad makings were available. The pizza came out about 10 minutes later and it looked and tasted pretty much like a tony's frozen $1.99 pizza, only half the size. Was not impressed in the slightest. My entire meal of 2 small one trip salads, and a itty bitty personal pizza was over $18! Cannot think of a good reason to return again. What a great experience! The staff was really friendly and truly interested in doing a great job. After placing my order I wanted to change it and they went out of their way to make me happy when they didn't have to.
