I went to Straw Hat Pizza with friends to watch the MLB Opening Day game. When we first arrived, it wasn't very crowded, but by game time the place had become lively and energetic. The venue itself is spacious and has a fun, vibrant atmosphere and is great for watching sports since there are several TVs throughout the restaurant. I ordered a small classic veggie pizza and asked if they could substitute olive oil for the red sauce, but unfortunately they weren't able to accommodate that request. That was a bit disappointing since it's something I usually get at other pizza spots. That said, the pizza itself was still good, and the amount of toppings was just right. I also ordered fried pickles, and those were a highlight. They were fresh, warm, and perfectly crispy. Service was pretty quick and the server was friendly. Overall, I'd definitely come back to watch another game. read more

The kids got a free personal pizza as a valentine this year. So we decided to stop in and give them a try before their coupons expired. This was our first time here, the girl taking orders wasn't overly friendly..but was informative. We ordered 3 of the personal pizzas and a small white sauce chicken pizza. They definitely do not skimp on the toppings, but they threw a lot of bacon on it and not very spread out. The restaurant was clean and the noise level wasn't bad. Today was wing Wednesday, each wing is only $0.89 each, so we ordered 10 and they were the star of the show! Cooked to perfection, perfect crisp on the skin and they were very evenly sauced. I wasn't a huge fan of the pizza, but would definitely go back for the wings. Overall good experience. read more

Ok review update: Strawhat delivery! I did a straw-hat delivery vs dine in this time. Not sure if this is a positive or negative but when I ordered my pizza it has contracted out to Postmates for delivery vs their own delivery service. I ended up really liking the use of Postmates because I was notified when the driver arrived and an ETA which not of a lot of places do. When my pizza arrived, it was still warm and the driver read my note to leave at the door because I was in the backyard. The pizza was made with an overly amount of cheese! The picture attached doesn't do it justice I thought it was one of the best delivery pizzas ever but there is something to be said about the dine in pizza gooey-ness level vs delivery. All in all, this was an amazing experience and will do delivery from strawhat again. read more

This place has a first bachelor apartment vibe to me. It's wide open with huge tv's everywhere, a bar kinda thrown haphazardly in the back...all that's missing is the black pleather couches. We decided to get the family deal that included an xl (3 topping) pizza, 6 Groovy Twists and 5 drinks for $32.99. We added 12 lemon pepper bone-in wings, wedges and a small salad bar (with 1 trip only). I will say that the 6 twists was a lot of food! We went with half jalapeño and cheese and half garlic Parmesan. They were huge but not great. They were almost a pita or flat bread with the toppings on them. The wings were sort of bland and the pizza just wasn't hitting. I can't put my finger on what was off about the pizza but I feel like it was the dough. Maybe it was undercooked or something. The salad bar was ok. I did like the selection of dressings and their Caesar dressing was thick and good! The service was pretty good though. The lady we ordered with was super friendly and very helpful with allowing us to make small changes with the food. It was also pretty affordable as we only paid about $70 for everything which is about how much you'd pay for just pizza and wedges from a lot of pizza places in town nowadays. I visited this location for a birthday party yesterday. Being knew it was so clean and nice! The pizza was good. I wish the game area was not just claw machines. We're still disappointed to spend money that was lost almost immediately on claw machines. There was an air hockey table and a couple of games. This was our 1st visit to the new Straw Hat on Hageman and Calloway. When we 1st walk down in we were instantly greeted by the 2 workers at the register. When looking at the menu it hey didn't have any to go menus to look at or any q codes available to look at the menu online. They did have a special where you purchase 1 large pizza and get the second s for $.65 cents. We opted to not choose that one and go with the family meal of $40.99 which included 1 large 2 topping pizza , 8oz potato wedges and chicken wings. Drinks were not part of this package and you had to pay those separately. The pizza was ok. It tasted like it may have sugar in the sauce which I dont care for but I really liked the dough. The potato wedges were nice and crispy. I really liked the chicken wings. Also the Mango Habanero were not spicy but still very tasty. This new location seems like it's the same size as their other location with the exception of a bigger gaming area and a party room. My family really enjoyed our time here and will definitely be back. read more

Food: Local joint (cataldos/Tony's) prices but taste wise it's a mediocre chain pizza place. I ordered a large the works but it was more medium sized with smaller than normal pieces. I also gave the jalapeno poppers a try, the taste was great but half of them were in the small size. $9 for 6.. I'll pass next time. Service: the two girls were quick to check if my order was ready but left the front end/cashier unattended for a good few minutes. Kinda dangerous to me. Not sure if I'll be returning again. Food wise I have no complaints. Food was made quickly and everything was correct without issue for an unusually large order. Issue I had was with the ownership. While sitting waiting for the to go order this evening, everyone in the restaurant was startled by the screaming now coming from the kitchen area. The owner could be heard verbally abusing what could only be assumed to be a member of her staff at a volume loud enough to be heard clearly over the music and background noise of normal conversations. Afterwards the owner re-entered the main part of the restaurant as if nothing had happened, and continued to verbally abuse the young high school age employees in front of customers. It was extremely disappointing to watch someone treat people that way in a family environment filled with children. read more

Delicious pizza cooled to perfection. We called and were told we coupd pick up in 20 minutes but they were ready when we got there in 15 minutes so we took our pizza and boogied on home. We had a party of 4 so we ordered 2 large pizzas (who doesn't like leftover pizza the next day?) 1 Chicken Bacon Ranch & 1 Meat-i-or. Both were delicious and cooked to perfection. Service is atrocious. Everyone is high as a kite. Guy at front taking my order said I couldn't get two flavors on my 20 wings because they mix all the wings in one bowl. I asked can you just split the wings into two bowls? He said no, but then said we could order two separate order of wings, for more money, and get two flavors. Wtf, go smoke some more Cheech ‍. Horrible place. Came in for lunch for my Birthday and all tables were dirty. Stood there for 5+ minutes and not one person came up to ask if we needed help so we left. Decided to try and order take out that evening. Called, took 2 minutes to answer the phone then placed on hold for 3 more minutes. Placed an order and was put on hold again. Girl came back on the phone and asked for payment. I wanted to know why I couldn't pay when I got there? She said all pizza places do that. Round table, me n Ed's, zeppos and slice of italy do not make you pay before you pick up your pizza. I told her to forget it. Was on the phone for over 10 minutes. First time trying this place and it will definitely be the last. The customer service was terrible and the staff were extremely rude. The food was just okay. They ID'd my sister's boyfriend, didn't believe his Tennessee ID was real, and even tried to peel it. The staff member said he would check with his boss, who then told him he should get a California ID. Who are they to tell someone that? They also asked my sister for her ID even though she didn't order a drink. When they finally decided to serve him his beer, they insisted he could only have it at the bar and had their server tell him his beer was waiting there instead of just bringing it to the table. While I understand they might be cautious as a new business, they really need to hire better employees. read more

I visited the new straw hat pizza on 7/19 for the first time and I did enjoy the food. The salad bar though was not stocked for the dinner rush. The pizza was tasty and the wedges were nice and crispy. As we were waiting for our food, the manager or owner could be heard screaming at the top of her lungs about how everything was a "shit show" and continued to verbally abuse the employees that were working that evening. When I went up front to ask for a box for the remaining pizza, I asked her if everything was ok because the entire restaurant heard her yelling profanities at her employees and she responded that "we love each other" I told her it didn't sound like it and she responded again that "we love each other" Straw Hat might consider looking into changing managers because I was not impressed how she was treating the employees. Rating only 2 starts purely based on the management's treatment of the employees that were doing their best. read more

Besides the pizza being undercooked. Our first experience at this new Straw Hat location was shocking to say the least. Like the others reviews on here I was there the same night the manager who's name I now know is Roxanne who's the owners wife, was screaming at someone at the top of her lungs behind closed doors. Whether it was an employee or someone on the phone it was totally unacceptable and embarrassing. The cussing and screaming and employees stood there and didn't try to stop her tells me everything I need to know about the way their business is run. Employees were too scared to confront her or stop her while all of us customers sat there in shock. I can only imagine the employee turnover with the way this place is poorly managed. Roxanne needs to step aside and let someone else manage this spot because what she's doing there is belittling and embarrassing to her employees and customers. read more
