When I called them out to look at a large void under my front porch and a sunken sidewalk, they easily could have sold me on a costly repair. I paid roughly in labor $900 an hour, In and out in 2 hours, pleasant people to talk with but to help figure out my leak problem or walk through it with me in person did not happen, 9' crack repair and it leaks above the repair, worse than before, tried to get them to come out and view it in person, but they had me send pictures of the leaks and diagnose that, they did what they said they were going to do, but my problem was I wanted a company to work with me on figuring out a permanent solution. So, I'm moving on to another company. read more

Extra Long Post Warning: I chose Stratum for my window well drainage because they have, across the board, glowing reviews. I mean glowing. By and large, those reviews are probably well earned. Here's my experience... I first met with a salesman named Matt. Matt is great. He definitely gave me a bit of a hard sell, but I get it. But I made my own decision in the end. I will say that never have I been walked through a process with as much care and detail as Matt provided. He is lovely. If anything, I would say he doesn't have to sell quite so hard. I was scheduled for a one-day job on June 20. On June 19, the head construction guy (don't remember his name, let's call him Rick) called me to say that if I really, really insisted on them coming the next day, he would make it work, but they really couldn't because they were behind. It was a bit of a strange guilt trip, but whatever. Ohhhhkay, fine. When can you schedule me?, I asked. Rick tells me, "Well, without looking at my calendar closely I can give you July 3." I thought 2 weeks was kind of an extensive delay but I haven't been busy this summer so I said okay. (I was hesitant about taking the day right before a holiday weekend, but I was assured it was a one-day job.) So July 3 arrives. Keep in mind that Matt has been in contact this whole time, being sure I was kept in the loop. On the morning of July 3, a crew arrives and the crew leader, (maybe his name was Keith?) went over the work. But! The paperwork was missing a key part--a new window well and window well cover, which was part of my bid. I explained that to Keith and he said they will make it work. I left to grab coffee and when I returned, an older guy was there to tell me that they wouldn't be able to do the window well and cover because it's not in the contract and they don't have the time. I think this guy is Rick, the one who has rescheduled me from June 20. "I'm trying to get my guys out early because of the holiday," he says. He also takes me down to my basement, where the work is happening, and says he's sure he'll be back again soon because I need more drainage than just what they're doing today. I wanna pause here and talk about gender. It was clear that Rick didn't totally respect me because I'm a single woman living on my own. He talked down to me terribly. I hate saying this because everyone else was great. And the guilt!! I totally get the desire to have your employees done early before a holiday, but the new well and cover were part of the contract and my work was already been delayed two weeks. While Rick and I were trying to figure this out, Keith walked up at that point and informed Rick that Matt had confirmed I had paid for the well and cover. At this point, I felt incredibly awkward because it seems like there was some kind of miscommunication I wasn't part of. Please know that most of this process was really positive. Keith was wonderful. A born leader. He was kind, competent, and cleaned the basement area so well. The crew had a really good rapport with each other. And I honestly can't say enough good about Matt. Would I choose them again? Maybe. Matt is truly awesome, and everyone other than Rick was absolutely fantastic. I mean, these guys were teaching each other stuff and so supportive. They were really sweet about my cat and just so professional. Oh! And for those interested in cost. I had one window well drain installed, connected to one sump pump. The downpayment was $1400 and the remainder was $3400. read more

After dealing with terrible companies who only wanted big bucks, Stratum was easy to deal with. They did exactly what was needed with no extra nonsense. Work was done very professionally. Stratum installed two egress windows for our basement renovation project. We couldn't be happier with Alex and Preston's job with the installation. They were very professional and courteous. The contractors doing the actual finishing of the basement might have been more impressed than my wife and I. They said it was the best framing and seal job they had seen in the 35 years they had done basements. I am from NV and we recently bought a house in MO. I thought I had some cracks that needed to be addressed in my foundation so I called Stratum to help me with any possible issues. Stratum sent Dan Getman and he was very knowledgeable and was able to talk me through everything I didn't know about basements/sub-pumps and soil types found here in MO vs NV. He let me know about my possible areas of concern and what to look for when I do have an issue. He was able to reassure me that everything going on in my house is within the normal range for the age of the house and the surrounding area. I was so happy to have an honest, knowledgeable person to help me with some things I am just not familiar with. When and if I ever have any issues with my house, I will certainly call Stratum. We called three foundation repair companies after we noticed some cracks in our walls and were concerned that they might be caused by foundation issues. The first company that came out spent a good deal of time outside with some kind of laser level thing and then told us we needed to have foundation piers at a cost of more than &15000. They did offer a discount if we signed a contract that day. I've always been a bit uncomfortable with companies that don't want you to get other bids or take time to think about an expense that large. The next person that came out walked around the house , checked doors and windows with a level and said we might possibly need our back porch support beams replaced but that our foundation was solid. He even correctly guessed the name of the first company we talked to and said they have commissioned salesmen who have a quota they have to make every month. Stratum was the third company who came out. Kevin took a look at the foundation, checked things with a level and agreed with the second company. If we had needed work we would have hired Stratum but he told us if it were his house he wouldn't do anything. I cannot speak to their work, obviously, although they get great reviews, but I can attest to their honesty and integrity. If you think you may have foundation issues give them a call. read more
