Employees helped me fix a piece of hardware and find the right screw needed! They took time to help with such a small fix. Very nice employees! read more

All the bad reviews for this place are 100% warranted. Everything they sell is overpriced, but it's convenient to me because it's very close to my house and I actually don't mind supporting small businesses over big box stores. NEVER AGAIN. I bought a chainsaw blade there and it did not fit my chainsaw. I attempted to return it less than an hour later and they were pretty much rude and said there was nothing they could do. No assistance with trying to find the correct blade, or helped me out in anyway. They pretty much told me there was nothing they could do and to get out. After I left, I called and asked to speak to the manager, and she very rudely told me that I should have known the return policy.. I said sorry I wasn't aware of it and told her it was a shame that they treat local customers this way, and I would be writing a few reviews. She said she didn't care and hung up on me. That's when I found all these negative reviews! Complaining about the exact same thing! Terrible customer service and just a bad return policy! I love supporting little businesses, but if I bought this at Home Depot or Amazon, I could've easily returned it. I found exactly what I needed on Amazon in the parking lot and it's being delivered to my house 8 AM tomorrow. Last time I'll ever set foot in the store. read more

DO NOT shop at Strathmanns! They do not honor the Ace return policy. I purchased 2 shop vacs and attempted to return one the next day because it turned out I only needed one. It was unused and in the original packaging, but they refused to accept it. Save yourself some grief and go to Lowe's or Home Depot here they respect and appreciate your business. read more

Simply put, this Ace location has been called out on their "lack of customer service" for years, and gotta give it to them for their consistency, their service is pathetic! Take an extra 5 minutes of time, and shop at the Ace in Richboro. read more

Yesterday I bought two bags of bird food from Strathmann's Ace store at $16.99 each. I stopped at another ACE store down the road on Welsh Road and I saw the same exact product for $1.00 Less for $15.99. Since it was at 6 p.m. and the store was already closed, I went back the next day and asked that they refund me the $2.00 difference, which they refused. Happily I returned them back to the store and went and bought them at the other ace store. This time I bought five extra bags for all of my neighbors. Beware of this greedy place. Stay away from this ACE store and shop somewhere else. Management stinks. read more

Went in this past Sunday to see if they had a replacement for my tried and true Craftsman 1/2" ratchet, which gave up earlier that week. The youngsters gaggling at the front check out were very unsure, and one ventured a guess about calling an 800 number, then offered to check with the owner/manager. I decided to look in the tool aisle to at least see what they had on-hand. While looking to see what they had, the aforementioned owner/manager asked if I needed help. As soon as I revealed that I was attempting to make good on that Famous Craftsman Lifetime Warranty on Hand Tools©®, her reaction was to announce reasons for not helping: "We don't honor the Craftsman warranty in this store," "Did you buy it here?" "Do you have a receipt?" "No, we don't do warranty replacements," and a few more very unhelpful comments. Topped off with an ample serving of aggression. I could see this was going nowhere so I walked out. What I found out after doing a little googling---and it would have been nice if the store staff could have told me---is that stores are only obligated to replace a broken Craftsman hand tool under the lifetime warranty if they have the item in stock. Of course, the model of 1/2" ratchet sold in 1975 V44385 is not going to be hanging there in 2025 (although the virtually identically-styled breaker bars are STILL being sold LOL), so it's almost certain you're going to have to get ahold of Craftsman customer service to get it fixed/replaced. In case YOU have an older broken hand tool covered by the Craftsman Lifetime Warranty, go to www.craftsman.com/warranty and call the listed 888 number (888-331-4569) or fill out their online support form. In my case, I filled out the form and received an email notice from Craftsman in less than 24 hours saying a replacement ratchet has been ordered and will be delivered within 2 weeks. Thank You Craftsman and thanks for nothing Strathmann Hardware. read more

While this store is convenient there is an older man working there that is a rude know-it-all. I watched him berate a young employee in front of customers. I took a screen in to be rescreened and got a call back that he could not do it. When I went in to pick it up there were more holes in it than when I took it in. He loudly insisted that no I brought it in like that. I know I didn't since the holes were all in the bottom part from a dog scratching it - the top of it was completely fine. read more

There is now a miserable Karen managing the place. The most unpleasant first person to see at any place of business. No wonder there is a sign on the door Help Wanted. The previous employees were pleasant and helpful. We are guessing the 2 nice older gentleman sold out. Having a Pit Bull at the entrance is a bad idea for retail stores. read more

I was out with my daughter and granddaughter and my granddaughter (3years) had to use a bathroom. The "friendly folks" at Ace Hardware refused to let a three year old use their "employees only" bathroom. Because it was "only for employees " and "if we let one person use the bathroom we have to let everyone use it ". SHE IS THREE YEARS OLD. And potty-trained for six months. Frankly, if i had taken my granddaughter in to use their bathroom-when they refused I would have had my granddaughter pee on their floor so they would have had a hazmat cleanup situation. Of all the most UNFRIENDLY alleged "customer service " i have ever experienced, this was the worst. I'm never going there again, and I would advise you to stay away as well. Especially if you have a young child who may need a potty break. read more

So me and my dad always go in here because it's close to my house the first bad Interaction I had with this place. Which I Go to frequently I wanted to purchase. A wheelbarrow and I wanted one that was Already put together. Because I got one before. And it was a pain in the ass. Show. You tell me it's a ten dollar fee which I was happy to pay and then they say no it's twenty. I didn't go there until last week. This 1st thing happened a few months ago so this is my 1st time back and I go to buy a chainsaw blade and I have The chainsaw with me so I. Don't get the wrong thing I have the twelve inch chain in my hand to get My echo twelve inch chainsaw and the guy tells me I have the wrong one And get the sixteen. So I listened thinking maybe he knew something I didn't he was wrong. I went to go bring it back and the owner wouldn't return minutes later Called the guy and he called me a liar. He said he never said that. I couldn't believe it I thought the customer is always right not here. I wouldn't shop there if it was next door to my house. read more

The customer service sucks. The return policy is a joke. 30 days to return an item. As a handyman I hold all my receipts and return all items not used when the Job is done. I walk in on day 40 with my receipt and unopened item. They tell sorry your out of luck, not even store credit. Stay away! read more

This is the first and only time I will shop here, I was working nearby and my wife needed a santa hat I stopped in and purchased one for $6.88, it turns out I didn't need it when I tried to return it (with the recipient) they said they couldn't because there was no tag but they said come back in an hour when the owner was there so I left and when I was done at the building I was working I stopped back they asked the owner and again said they could not take it back because it didn't have a tag, as I told them it wasn't that they can't it that they wouldn't. At that point a male sales person asked if I had an Ace member card I said I didn't he said it's because I wouldn't, what a jerk. For a small store you would think that they would be more accommodating to customers. read more

Worst customer service ever. Bought something online for in-store pickup, went to pickup the next day. The store manager (who claimed to be owner) said the system was down and could not give me the items or sell them to me at the same price as I had bought it for online. Save yourself a headache and go somewhere else. read more

We have been going here for more than 20 years. They carry a lot of the items I use or need. However they are not what I would call customer service oriented. For example, today I was driving from Cherry Hill and needed straw to cover seed on the lawn. I called Strathmann to see if they had any. YOU CANT TALK TO ANYONE BY PHONE!! I called True Value in Richboro. They answered right away and told me they had 2 bags left. I went there, paid my $30 and they even loaded it into my car. I think True Value May now become my new go to place. Strathmann should rethink their phone policy. As a customer I hate driving to a store to find out they don't have what I wanted. It takes less than 2 minutes to tell me if you do or don't have a specific item. read more

I purchased an indoor digital timer by Prime company for 17.99 on March 9 and my wife and I tested the device up until today March 16. We had a lamp inserted into the timer and it only turned On but never turned Off. I went today to get a refund because the timer was defective and the owner refused. It was less than 30 days but I did not keep the packaging of the item so they could redisplay it for sale. If the item is defective why would he want to resell it? He did not care that I explained the issue and told him my wife also tried to get the item to work but it also failed. There is no customer service, no care for what was said as our explanation. I wasn't trying to get to take advantage of him or steal from them just wanted my 17.99 back. No care or concern from them. So I will not go back there again, as others have mentioned go to other True Value stores in Richboro or Huntingdon Valley. read more

As a regular Ace Hardware rewards member, I can say that this store has just about anything a homeowner could use. I just had a very good experience at this store. I ordered on line for a curbside pickup and someone who may have been the manager, a young woman, was very helpful on the phone answering my questions and at the curb where she carried out my purchase and put it in my car. I recommend shopping at the Southampton Ace hardware read more

I had a great experience with this Ace. I bought a patio set for curbside pick up. My order was ready on time and the manager was really helpful when I originally couldn't fit all of the boxes in my car. Great customer service. I don't agree with the negative reviews below as I had a wonderful experience, especially during this crazy time. Thank you ace of Southampton ! read more

Worst customer service I've ever experienced. Had to return item and was told "we're not taking it back because it's opened". Tried to explain that I didn't realize it wouldn't work for me until I read instructions which were inside package. Staff at Strathman's Hardware are arrogant, confrontational and absolutely unrealistic. I never had any issues returning items that didn't meet my needs at other hardware or home improvement stores and I've never been treated as badly as I was at Strathman's Hardware . This is the last time I ever go into Strathman's Hardware and I am putting out this review as a warning: next time it could be you. read more

This is not your typical lumber yard and hardware store. My hubby has shopped here for those things, but when I visit, I go to the other side. During the spring and summer, the outside is filled with flowers and plants for sale. Inside you will find home decor, lamps, some kitchen gadgets, silk flowers and garden supplies. My favorite things are the year around decorations, they have for the holidays. They have the most awesome displays and the largest selections in town. At Christmas they set up outdoor displays that are all lit up, cheerful and merry and folks from all over come by to check them out. Family owned and operated, so very friendly and helpful. A woman had to have designed this store, because men automatically go towards the right of the store and women veer to the left. read more

Strathman's is an "attractive nuisance." Its location is very convenient but its prices and service are decidedly subpar. As a recent example, I stopped in looking for plant hangers, which they were selling for $30. I found a better quality (heavier metal basket and thicker chain) version at Home Depot for $8. The high prices are not justified by exquisite service. On those occasions when I have found a salesperson on the floor, s/he has merely rattled off an aisle number for the item I sought. This approach is in stark contrast to Lowe's where the sales associates are happy to educate you on the relative merits of choices. As others have noted, they do not answer their phones and are irrational about returns/exchanges. Mr. M picked up incorrect size bolts (loose) and tried to exchange them for the correct size (same day, with receipt) and they refused to allow the exchange. read more

I usually stop in because it's local The selection is good enough for most of my hardware needs and I like the small family store feel. The only gripe I would have is - Don't get your keys cut there. I noticed when the woman was cutting someone else's keys that she was very amateur at it. When she saw my 2 sided car key, she said that another guy would do it so I was a bit relieved. When the guy saw my keys, he said that he couldn't guarantee them if he cut them from my "copy". I went ahead anyway and I could immediately see that his skills are no better, but I was not going to offer any tips simply because I thought that the key might work anyway . . . Well - It didn't and I can see that this new key is cut fatter and more hastily then the original. My advice is to have a pro come in and teach them how it's done. read more

It is true. Most of the floor employees do not know what products do, nor if they are even available. The phone service is just awful. I've called several times asking for a product by name, even telling the girl ( always a young girl's voice, not woman) where I saw it in the store, and she always says there are none left. When I go the next day, it is there. I'll give them a star over the Huntingdon Valley Fisher's Ace Hardware, though. At Fisher's, the associates make fun of you while you are still in the store and you can hear them. If you call them on it, they literally throw you out. Here, the floor associates don't know anything but they are at least sheepish and will ask you what you know, so they can know. Kind of the opposite of what hardware stores should be. read more

I've tried so hard to give this local business a chance. After today, they've lost that chance. I paid for a wheel barrel and was told it would be up soon. After 10 minutes I inquired and someone said they would get it. An additional 10 minutes later I inquired again and an older man said that I didn't tell him what I needed...twenty minutes waiting and I'm being insulted. Turns out they had none left in stock. So I said, "Please give me the demo." He replied that I needed to pay $10 assembly fee. I did, left and will never return. I guess the Big Boxes won. Quite the shame. read more

NOT COVID FRIENDLY AS ADVERTISED!!! Ordered something online for curb side pickup. Ace isn't usually my first choice, as the staff at this particular location are historically rude. They advertised curbside pickup though, I needed one particular item, so this was the safest way for me to quickly get what I needed safely (this is during the worst surge of COVID cases so far and I have an autoimmune disease). When I arrived that the location, the employee came just out of the door and waved me over. I said "are you saying I have to come to you?" and he answered "Yes, that's all you paid for." I had to get out and go near the store and other shoppers (in the rain...probably why he didn't feel like coming over to me) to get the item anyway. Never again Strathmann's. Terrible service, overpriced! Things on sale and they do not have it in stock, the store is a mess! Worst "hardware" store around!

This store is totally overpriced. They also don't answer the phone so don't bother calling. It goes to a long announcement explaining how they are too busy to answer. Hey, if they wont answer the phone a guarantee another store will. Then I can get what I need somewhere else. read more

4+ years ago I vowed to never patronize Strathmann's Ace Hardware again. Sunday, with my elderly mother in the car I felt it would be quicker to run in and get some primer. So I swallowed my pride and to my surprise I even found the primer on $ale. Yeah me...NOT. I opened the primer to find a film on it. Thought it was odd but what the heck, let's stir it anyway. There was obviously something wrong. It was extremely clumpy and thick. It came off the brush in clumps. Today, with my receipt I went to swap out the primer for another can, assuming maybe this was a bad batch. Now I remember why I said I would never patronize this HORRIBLE EXCUSE OF A RETAIL STORE AGAIN. "We don't accept returns on anything opened" a sweet young girl at the register says. I said "how would I know it was bad if I didn't open it?" BLAH BLAH...you know the rest of the story. Stay far far away from this place. read more

Nice place for supplies over the big stores. However, don't even try to call them for help-how to use something you bought there, if they have an item, suggestions for tools for a project--anything at all. Rude and unfriendly! Are not a strong enough words to describe the stores employees. Don't ever try to return sometime they make you feel like you are try to pull one over on them. Im calling because I need something that you may have and I would like ot know before I drive over there . And I hate to say it but you are never really busy , I drive past here everyday and never see too many cars in the lot. Helpful? Not at all. Two females at the counter when we went to check out just now. One was at the register writing something. Didn't even look up as we stood there. She could have said " She can help you on the other side". Nope. Just kept on writing, even though we stood there with arms loaded with items. The other on the other side could have said "I can help you over here" or SOMETHING. Customer service? Helpful hardware folks? Not today at this store. read more

Strathmann is the closest store of it's type to me, so it gets a star for location...it can be very convenient at times. The two major issues I have are the phones and their pricing. I couldn't even begin to calculate how much business they have lost from me over the years because they absolutely do not answer the phone during business hours...ever. I am fairly familiar with what they carry, but if I am unsure, there is no way to ask so I end up trekking to Home Depot instead. Their average pricing seems to be slightly higher than larger stores, but is often worth not having to drive as far to get what I need. Be EXTREMELY careful with larger non-hardware/hand tool type items though! I have attempted, but declined to purchase many larger items there because they were priced more than 100% higher than any other local retailer for the exact same item. I have called them out on this many times, and their response has been that the owner already knows, and it's not going to change. Good Luck! read more
