Is this place heaven? That's how I felt when I stumbled in 1 day. Cool selection of....everything. Books, candles, blankets, soaps, art, and knick knacks. Everything is beautifully decorated and arranged. Very pleasant to look at. Don't miss the hidden clearance section in the back. They have some hidden gems! She'll follow you around, bother you about what you're looking for even if you say "just looking" and then awkwardly stand there and just stare at you. She's ignorant too, last time I went she asked why I came in. "I'm just browsing, I need a present for my mom's birthday on Sunday." Her response: "you need to be more than just looking" in a very nasty tone. Then I told her "my mom likes signs to hang on the wall." "Well there are the signs," she said, which I knew because I was standing in front of them. Even though I had my eye on something, there's no way I would buy it from her store. read more

The David Witchell Empire continues to grow in Newtown, Pa. His once solitary salon on State Street has expanded into several boutiques covering a variety of clothing styles and now, a home decor showcase in the former Allegheny Art Supply store. It is something very bright and shiny in the resolutely old school Newtown Borough. I like it! Walking around the surprisingly large space full of all those things I never knew I would find attractive, I was reminded of my recent visit to Southern California - San Diego, La Jolla, Laguna Beach and Long Beach. Those beautiful upscale Left Coast culture centers have such shops on every avenue and corner. They provide the texture of that ocean view mellow yellow lifestyle. (Yes. These tchotchkes can be found in New Hope and similar such venues, but the distance between New Town and Hope can be as great as that to So Cal). Gala and Kellie were cool, leaving us to explore all the knickknacks and crannies with only light direction and inquiry. We picked up a few things (oversized mugs and a snowglobe Buddha), that we totally did not need, but enjoyed impulse purchasing. So much cheaper than a return flight to Orange County, this whimsy shop. read more

DJW home is a great little home decor shop in the heart of Newtown. The pricing is steep, but their selection is eclectic, visually appealing and notably high quality. One thing I love about this place is that the stock is so random. At a quick glance I found fragrances from Amouage (ultra high end company, founded by the Sultan of Oman), oversized coffee table books focusing on music, weird art, & pop culture, leather wrapped flasks, gorgeous marble catchall trays, and vintage style shaving sets. Yes, there's something for everyone here. In terms of style, DJW Home reminds me of ABC Home in NY, though on a much smaller scale (and minus the furniture of course). ABC was one of my favorite decor spots when I was living in the city, so I'm really glad to have this little carbon copy nearby. This place is definitely worth having a look at, even if you're just going to browse. And if you live in the area I'd also bookmark DJW Home for a later date, since it makes the perfect source for unique gifts. read more

Place is just ok. Expensive Homegoods without all the stuff all over the ground. Would've given it one star, but the extra star is for you, the owner, or what people are calling the hag. Hilarious. You want to see someone unnecessarily stressed and pissed, take your young kids in here like I did (5 and 8). Kudos to you dear owner, must be a rotten life you lead. Nicely catered items that are WAAAAAY overpriced and can mostly be found in a TJ Max, Marshall's, Homegoods chain. And the nasty old hag that works there follows you around, watches, and stares at you while you browse through the store made us feel very uncomfortable and unwelcomed. Fraud!!! Purchased a candle holder for $200 from them and went an hour later to Home Goods and saw it there for $49. I called them and they refused to do anything about it. Terrible! Also noticed no manufacturers tags on anything. Only there little stickers on the bottom marked up 5x the price. Also their credit card charges go through the salon not the furniture store probably to pass it off as a service vs. purchase to bypass return policies mandated. Thieves!! You have been warned. High prices and discriminatory employee and owner. Go only if you are White! My friend (Asian), my husband (White) and I (also Asian) shopped at this snooty store on the day of the Trump Rally last October. We separately browsed at different areas of the store. When we all met up after shopping, she told me that the owner followed her throughout the store as if expecting her to shoplift. I told her that she was probably being too sensitive as she treated my husband with such warmth. So, 8 months later. I am back with hubby and my kids (Eurasian). Hubby went to the back while the kids and I stayed closer to the front. Then, we heard something drop to the floor. The female clerk walked back and rudely asked us whether any one us broke anything. We shook our heads and she walked away. Hubby found his favorite hand cream and like last time, the clerk fussed over him. After we exited the store, I asked hubby whether he was questioned about the loud noise. Hubby sheepishly told me that he dropped a wooden lid but nothing was broken. Interestingly, he was never asked whether HE broke anything. How interesting that only non-White people can potentially have broken something at that store. Now, I know for sure my friend was not being overly sensitive. This store is discriminatory and we will NEVER go back! To top it off, the same hand cream on Amazon is half price! read more
