The shop/outdoor rental place is in a barn across the road from the river and although it looks like a good size from the outside, I was blown away when I went in. Kayaks and bicycles can be rented by the day, and inner tubes and pumps purchased, taking care of river recreation needs. But allow a LOT of extra time for shopping in the rest of the store when you return your gear-- the rest of the 6,000 square feet of renovated barn is chock full of fun gifts, books, clothing, outdoor gear, backpacks, water shoes, jewelry, cute housewares and all sorts of upscale souvenirs to the point where I could have spent the entire day browsing. They also have a partnership with local nature organization supporting the Sourlands, so there is a good cause to support while shopping, and some interesting local guides available in the book section. In the age of internet retail, having a place like this to explore is priceless (although I think they also do internet sales and gift baskets too). Will definitely be back, hopefully very soon.

I love this little store! The other day I had wall sconces on my mind but, as usual, when you're…read moreactually looking for something, it can be rather hard to find. I wanted sconces that would hold taper candles, not the electric sort that leave you having to hide the trailing cord. So I decide to run to Sweet Magnolia to replace a candle that had recently burnt out completely when, lo and behold!, there is the most gorgeous pair of gold-leafed wall sconces hanging right before my eyes! This is why I love Sweet Magnolia - you can find such elegant pieces here when you least expect it. I also appreciate that their prices don't put a huge dent in your wallet. $58 for the pair? I'll take them! The store also carries the greatest soy candles ever by Aquiesse which last a rather long time and come in several delightful fragrances. They also carry an array of other home goods - Forte teas, place settings, bath and body products, stationery, baby gifts, and jewelry. Definitely a great little shop for finding last minute gifts or a treat for yourself. I've seen similar items at other stores like Anthropologie for twice the price, so why not patronize a local entrepreneur instead?

Whenever I need a little gift for someone (or myself) I know I can find it! To top it off she's really friendly, and always up for a chat. It is really nice to be able to shop local and we are lucky we have a boutique like Sweet Magnolia in the neighborhood.

ZERO STARS!! Extremely disappointing experience at The Mole Hole in Peddler's Village…read more I came in with my family, including my daughters, and admired the store's many wind chimes. As a consumer, I love the sound of wind chimes, and yes, I tapped a few while walking through with my girls (there were no signs anywhere saying not to). Instead of kindly addressing it, the man who said he was the owner came up and told me to stop, repeatedly ordered me to leave the store, and went so far as to say I "couldn't afford" the wind chimes anyway. I found this insulting, unprofessional, and frankly discriminatory. I could afford the items (I even bought a $35 bracelet despite the treatment), but no customer should be spoken to that way, especially in front of their children. When I asked the front desk to get the manager, the staff refused. Peddler's Village is supposed to be a family friendly place, but this was one of the rudest encounters I've had as a paying customer. If management cares about customer serviced and inclusivity, they need to seriously rethink how people are treated here. I was humiliated... told to leave immediately and that I "couldn't afford" anything in the store. Disrespectful, condescending, and felt outright discriminatory because YES IM HISPANIC! Families beware: spend your money elsewhere!

Walking through Peddler's Village a few days after Christmas just for something to do, no agenda,…read morewasn't looking for anything in particular. Walked into The Mole Hole because it seemed like they had a fairly large selection of many different things. Again, I wasn't shopping for anything in particular, just window shopping. The place is jammed packed with wares and people, making it difficult to maneuver. As you could imagine, all the Christmas decor and such was 50% discounted. Again, not looking for anything in particular, my house was already packed away for the season. While browsing I found a pretty cute tower of ornaments that should light up. Unfortunately it's battery powered but there were no batteries in it so I couldn't see if it worked or what it looked like illuminated. It was actually very cute without the lights on but I was still curious. Well I grabbed it fully intending on purchasing it with or without illumination. I get up to the counter and there's 2 registers and I'm the only person checking out at the one register. Very lovely young lady working so I ask if there's any way she could test the decoration to see if it works. She could very well have said this is something they didn't do and I would've been fine with that, but she gladly grabbed batteries from under the counter to quickly check it for me. WELL...another clerk person behind the counter, around 40 years old, guy wearing a Santa hat, rolled his eyes at me as if I asked the young lady to donate a kidney or something. I asked him if there was a problem and he said, you're getting it for 50% off. And? I told him I didn't care what the cost of the item was, I just wanted to know if it worked. If it was an issue, I could just not make the purchase. So a manger type man comes over and he just says, yeah he's always like that, don't mind him. I'm sorry, what??? He's always just here making customers feel like crap and running his mouth? That's not how you should run a business. That guy was an ass and the manager/owner guy was an ass for allowing the behavior. Anyway, the young lady was lovely and I made the purchase because she was exceptionally professional. However! I will never patronize the Mole Sh*tHole again.
