    Fish & chip with gratin

Food was lovely, loads of it. I had garlic mushrooms to start. Very garlicky.. Had to scrape out some so wouldn't turn himself off good night kiss. Mains was fish and chips. It could have fed a few people. Dessert was divine - sticky toffee pavlova "drool" Only thing that didn't make it a 5 star was the restaurant was quite chilly and I couldn't warm up. €22.95 for 3 courses on sunday night.

Awesome food for a good special price, cozy ambiance and outstanding service! Don't miss this place when in Cork! Enjoy!

Deep-fried mushroom... It was good, wish it was 5 instead of 3

Following the recommendation of our B&B host in Cork we went to Strasbourg Goose for a dinner. It just like what our host promised us; small restaurant with good food and great hospitality! Two of the wait staff who serves us is really friendly and knowledgeable of the food and drinks that they served. We had 2 set course for 20 Euro each. We had beef salad and deep-fried mushroom for starter. It was really good. The beef has unique texture - crunchy on the outside, yet soft and melting on my mouth. It creates a good fusion flavour all together with the crunchy vegetable on the salad. My boyfriend is really happy with his deep-fried mushroom. For main I had Lamb Shank. It was superb! Well cooked; The meat just falls of from the bones easily. It comes with mint sauce that I cannot have enough of it. Portion was generous! The fish that my boyfriend had also taste really good. Crispy fish skin, soft meat, and mild sauce that give a good balance for the dish. After 2 courses, we were so full, but do not want to skip desert! So we shared a Banoffee Pie between us. Simply the best Banoffee Pie we had in a while! It was fresh and leave nice after taste. Definitely value for money! :)

The slow cooked pork is pretty good, maybe a option to add the gravy separately it would be lovely because you can add the quantity that you want. The sirloin steak has a good size although the meat was just a little hard to cut. But still both was a good choice for us. The vanilla ice cream (I can remember it was handmade) but was really good!!

Went here with a group of 5 on a Tuesday night. Walked right in and got a table without a reservation. We did the 22 euro for the 3 course meal. I love that you can sub a glass of wine for the dessert. Food was delicious! I had the pate to start and the duck for the main and highly recommend both. Other dishes had by our group was the salmon, the mussels, steak, fried mushrooms. Everyone was happy with their food. The service started out great but we were kind of forgotten about towards the end. Would have actually ordered another bottle of wine if we could have gotten his attention.

The sirloin steak main course. Yummy or wot?

Went there with friends while back in Ireland, had a nice selection of microbrew beers and good food for a fair price with friendly staff.

Excellent food. Amazing value. Service is fast. Lack of a concierge and reservations is a big negative.

Pretty average, and enjoyable. The servings were definitely large! And the 3-course deal was a great price.

This meant loosened belts and full bellies most of our time in the city and we couldn't have been happier! On our second night in town, we were after an early dinner as we had plans at another local pub later in the evening. After a stroll around town, Mad Monk was the spot! Apparently Quinlan's is a small chain with several spots around Ireland, and after popping in, we can tell why. The thing that stood out the most for us at Mad Monk was the freshness of all the goods, specifically the seafood. I enjoy a good grilled or pan seared fish filet, but being in Ireland, it was my mission to try as many fish and chips as I could, and Mad Monk was next on the list! Before we dove into our mains, we did order one of the only non-seafood dishes on the menu, the braised beef croquettes. They were absolutely tasty, and set up our mains very well! We both went with the traditional fish and chips. The fish was perfectly fried and flaky and the tartar sauce was *chefs kiss*! I will say, as with most chips around the island, the chips were a bit underwhelming. They were slightly crispy and fluffy inside, but I am not a huge fan of steak fries and they definitely could have used a bit more seasoning. Service was solid, efficient and friendly. The space is quaint, bright and sleek. Lots of woods and blues, which definitely give the vibes of seafood. Overall, Mad Monk was a solid spot and one we glad we visited during our short stay in Killarney!

All of our entrees were exceptional Great cheerful service. Very highly recommended Slainte

Fishfingers for children were not something I'd buy from a grocery. Fish cakes were mostly (90%+) potato. Salmon dinner was served with potatoes and was bland. If you want quick microwaved food go here. I would recommend saving your money and going to a restaurant that preps fresh food and cooks it to order. For quality of food I'd expect prices to be half of what they are.

I've also had the burger, which was pretty good. The main reason for me giving only 3 stars is that I went for breakfast two days ago, and it wasn't what it used to be. I ordered the New York pancakes. I've had these before and they were American type pancakes. Being American, having had them before, and the fact that the dish is called "The New Yorker", I expected the same pancakes. I didn't get them. What came out was crepes. I was fine with crepes, even though that's not what I expected. The real problem was that the eggs served with the dish were hidden between the pancakes and were terribly overcooked. To top it off, everything was covered in syrup. Maybe eggs in maple syrup is good for some people, but not me. I couldn't eat syrupy, overcooked eggs. My suggestion to the restaurant is to specify what kind of pancakes they are in the menu, cook the eggs as requested, and put them on the side, OR if you insist on hiding them in the crepes, serve the dish with the syrup on the side!
