    Queso Fundido with Chorizo

Strange Bird is located in a well restored, 1967 vintage streamliner. It will certainly catch your eye when driving by, and the casual Mexican fare is yummy! We shared the Queso Fundido and enjoyed every cheesy bite! The crispy wings were indeed Crispy, but tender chicken on the inside. They were finger lickin' good! Service was friendly, efficient and we look forward to returning!

In Savannah for vacation and was directed by Air BNB host to Strangebird. They are located in an old 1960 metal diner that is elevated. Strangebird is definitely a step back in time. The vibe is nostalgic, retro and cool. The wait staff is attentive, helpful with suggestions and very friendly. The seating is limited and the AC is rocking. We ordered the queso fundido with chorizo, pumpkin seeds, pico de gallo, and chilis. The chips were hot and lightly salted. This selection was delicious. The series of three tacos were chosen: crispy chicken with garlic and lime; GA shrimp salpicon with cilantro and green chili; and the cauliflower and mushroom pastor. The chicken was dry and lacked flavor. The shrimp also contained minimal flavor and unremarkable. The cauliflower and mushroom was packed with and great pineapple flavor and was deemed our favorite. Our waitress also suggested the refried butter beans with cotija, Mexican crunchy corn, red onions and cilantro. A unique choice and good flavor. A great suggestion by our waitress. The nostalgic restaurant was fun but the food did not meet our expectations. Overall, we found the meal to be only average. We wish Strangebird the best and would be hard pressed to recommend.

We stopped in for lunch around 3 on a Saturday! It was slight busy but we were lucky enough to sit down immediately. I love the decor in this quaint space, it's very nicely done. The tacos were delicious - 3 for 15$ so not a bad deal at all. I ordered the chorizo, pork, and chicken. The chicken was mild but juicy. The pork was a little dry but still very good with their house made sauces. My favorite was the chorizo which was mixed with peppers and delicious. They have a super cool drink menu as well, with alcoholic and nonalcoholic drinks alike. I cant wait to come back again and try more of their dishes!

Very impressed!! I stopped by here on a Monday evening when I saw that they were open. Inside there were only a handful of people and eclectic music playing on the speakers. I had a seat in a booth, and my waitress provided me with the specials. I opted to go for the mushroom and cauliflower pastor tacos, crispy potatoes and Jamaica Agua Fresca. OMG! The tacos were absolutely amazing and definitely top 5 tacos I have experienced. Being vegetarian is not for the weak, lol. The crispy potatoes were good, but I wasn't a huge fan of the sauce on them, wish it would have been placed on the side. The Fresca was good, and refreshing, too. I hope they never take those tacos off the menu because they were so delicious. (They have a parking lot, too, so parking was easy and accessible.) I will be back for those tacos!

If you haven't tried Strange Bird yet you're definitely missing out!! A little gem tucked off Henry & Barnard - this streamliner is restored so nicely! There's limited seating inside, with a few tables outside on the sidewalk. The staff is very friendly and the service is quick. I got the French onion burger with a side of crispy potatoes. One word... delicious!! It was a crispy smash style burger served on toast with mushrooms, onions, cheese, potato chips and an onion sauce on top. Everything was perfect about it. The side of potato wedges were good too. Honestly, I would love the potato wedges with the onion sauce of them! Maybe something I'll try to customize in the future. My husband ordered the crispy chicken tacos. He said "oh I'll be thinking about these tacos tomorrow, they're so good!" 5 stars all around!

Great staff, amazing food! The flavors in each dish is so rich and complex. I came here for the first time today and left with a good high!

Food, service and ambience all fantastic. We just moved here from Chicago and finally got a great meal! Super fresh and the flavors were original but not too exotic. Homemade sauces, dressings are always fun to try! The diner atmosphere is cozy and welcoming. Prices very reasonable.

My normal Wednesday location was closed to I headed over to Strangebird tonight and am thankful I did. They had a Ramen Pop-up going tonight and I am happy I got to experience this and enjoy the food there. It's an old style diner so it is t large. Think there are 6 4 top tables and I think 14-16 seats at their bar areas. So don't expect large groups. The service there is wonderful and they all want you to have a good time and enjoy yourself while there. I had their pork dumplings which were very filling and the Keegan Fillion Tonkatsu ramen. If I had to give one detractor was the amount of pickled ginger in the ramen which I felt over powered the subtle flavors in the ramen broth. I'm thankful I got to eat there tonight and hope that they hold more of these pop ups in the future.

This little place will give you a unique dining experience not only because of cuisine fusion but also because it is an old school train. The chips tasted fresh and were perfectly thick and crunchy. We ordered a blackeyed pea salad that was very flavorful & fresh & went well with the chips. The corn was also very tasty, some of the best I've had and the presentation was also very fun. The veggie & chicken tacos were warm with gooey yummy cheese and there was a lot of depth of flavor. The banana pudding was creamy and the churro bits on top were a perfect addition! Our service was fantastic. Very glad we came here!

Let's talk…read moreabout a beautiful historic intimate location in the heart of downtown Savannah with the charm and sophisticated architecture that an elegant event would bring. The Room at Common is top notch and believe me there is absolutely nothing common here. Let's give a moment of respect to the Executive Head Chef Shawn and his entire accompanying staff whose impeccable attention to detail in every dish that exited his kitchen demonstrated the depth and ability of everyone who had a hand in slicing, cutting, baking, and curating the most delectable dishes I have found in quite a while. You need an outlandish charcuterie board to get you in the mood to begin the eating festival. The sliders had the perfect texture and the bread was tenderly placed with a delicate sauce. The tomato basil soup in a bread bowl was like heaven. The fried green tomatoes were also a favorite. The short ribs with the smothered collard greens and the cornbread were on an another planet of goodness. You want fresh local oysters on the half shelf pulled from the water only hours ago, well they got you right in house with them lying on ice and a professional shucker right there to serve you with a beautiful smile. Did I mention the dessert bar? Freshly baked cookies, macaroons, mini red velvet cake shooters, lemon puff pastries, mini cheesecakes, and other treats that would leave the sweetest sweet tooth, toothless. The food was Southern, but wound up a notch. It was not boring. It was not common. If you're in Savannah for a work conference or need a place to meet to discuss business with your team, host a holiday party, or have a small wedding reception, do not skip The Room at Common. One thing I appreciate is how attentive the staff is to each guest. Everyone is so friendly and welcoming. You feel as if you're one of the family coming to visit. The cocktails are delicious. The wine selection is fantastic and carefully crafted with an experienced sommelier in house. I'm telling you that you will kick yourself if you don't have you people call Leah Ralph to book your event. The food and drinks will make your folks love you forever!

We were looking for a small, intimate, and beautiful space to host our micro-wedding celebration, and after reaching out to many places in downtown Savannah, The Room at Common stood out immediately. When we did our site visit, it was exactly what we had envisioned and more. The space is beautifully decorated inside a historic Savannah building and offers thoughtful features like a Frame TV for slides or welcome messages, private restrooms, a private bar, and the ability to play your own music (which is rare for a small venue and comes without extra charges). Leah was wonderful to work with throughout the entire process. She responded to our initial inquiry almost immediately, something that really stood out since many other venues took days or even weeks to reply. From the first email to the site visit and all the communication leading up to the event, she was incredibly helpful and reassuring. As someone who works in hospitality and tends to be a bit of a "controller," it meant a lot to feel confident that everything was in good hands. On the day of our celebration, everything was beyond what we imagined. The space looked beautiful, and we were greeted so warmly. Sammy, our server, was attentive and fun, and the bartender was fantastic as well. And the food... absolutely incredible. Every dish exceeded expectations. Our guests are still talking about it weeks later. The oysters were incredibly fresh, the steak was outstanding, and the fried cornbread, fish dip, and cheesecake were unforgettable. A huge thank you to the Executive Chef (who even came out to greet us) and the entire kitchen team. Every member of the team made us feel cared for and ensured we had everything we needed. They truly embody the meaning of Southern hospitality. Thank you all for making our day so special. My husband and I already say that if we ever renew our vows or host another celebration, we'll absolutely be coming back.
