They have about 15 beers on tap and a cooler section for packaged beers, etc. They've got some games and a couple tv's so things to do while you hang out. Located near Forsyth Park is this friendly, local craft beer spot. My friend and I were visiting for a wedding and came in around 2:30 pm on a Saturday. Our bartenders were incredibly friendly and kind. I love the whale decor and the chill atmosphere. We sat at the bar and played card games while we sampled some local craft beers. Everything I tried was AMAZING! I don't typically enjoy IPAs but I tried one here and it was delicious. This is clearly a local spot with many regulars. Every worker and customer was friendly and engaging with us. Things got a little more crowded around 3:30 pm (start time of the Georgia game) but it was never loud or overly crowded. It didn't feel like a sports bar, but you could watch the games there. They also had a child/ family friendly atmosphere. I can't wait to visit on our next trip! read more

I went to this establishment expecting a craft beer company's taproom, what I found was something entirely different... Located beside one of the larger or largest parks in Savannah, this non-descript place, from the outside, is indeed a taproom. However, it's not the tap room to a single brewery, instead, it's what I would call a "craft beer bar". Decorated with high tables and chairs, plenty of board games to play, and a couple of pinball machines, this taproom hosts craft beers, and craft beers alone, from many of the local and within the state. They only have about 10 taps, but what they offered covered the gamut of what you would expect in any taproom. Service was super friendly, they even gave me the option of trying my choice, instead of just pouring it out, and the prices were very reasonable. I walked away wondering why I had until this day come across a place like this. I wish where I lived in FL we would have a place like this. read more

First place I went to in Savannah was Forsynth park. Second place I went to was White Whale Craft Ales. After walking around the park, a need to quench the thirst began. This place is about a three minute walk from the south side of the park on Bull Street and such a good place to have picked. Like many places, they were dog friendly and as I joked to my friends, human friendly too. Not only did I get a nice cold beer, I was met with the most hospitable peeps who ended up giving me recommendations and tips for the rest of my trip. I want to say they had about 10-12 beers on draft. I picked the sour which was really sour but that's right up my alley. They have some arcade games and shuffle board inside and three tables you could sit at outside if you wanted. Overall seemed like where locals go more so than tourist. Glad this made it to the list of places I checked out. read more

Great craft beer shop on the south end of Forsyth park. My wife and I were doing the tourist route walking down Bull St and through Forsyth, and I realized we were by White Whale. I always love visiting beer stores in other cities so I can see how they differ. The bottle/can selection here had a lot of solid all around options with a few Georgia local options thrown in; the curation of it was very smart, particularly sours, brown ales, and lighter ales. IPAs were there but not omnipresent, which is exactly how I like it. The beer list was also curated well, however the options were 75% local from Georgia, including sours. The owners had clearly tried every beer on the menu and could make intelligent recommendations/notes on each. I had the Athena from Creature Comforts brewery in the end, which is a berliner weisse brewed with guava and passion fruit. It tasted pitch perfect like strawberry guava I had fresh off the tree on the Big Island of Hawaii; maybe one of the best sours I've ever had. Between the beer list and the knowledge of the people working here, I wish I had this store in my neighborhood. read more

This place was just what we needed on a warm Friday afternoon toward the end of February. Walked down from Forsythe Park for a cold one and were greeted by some furry friends and an even friendlier bartender! We ordered up and sat down at the bar and spent a few more rounds passing the afternoon away chatting with our bartender- who knew everyone that walked in - as well as another gentleman who gave us a locals perspective on the area. The tap selection changes weekly so you can, in theory, have a different beer every night. It does not have a large selection but I was able to find some of my Michigan microbrews. Mostly US craft beers. It is nice to taste before you buy. The deposit on the growler keeps you coming back. Grab a taco down the block and take a beverage home. They recently acquired a license to serve and sell by the pint, so you can bring a crew and chill. Two tables for about six people each. read more

This is definitely one of the best craft beer stores right in downtown Savannah. More specifically, the Forsyth Park area and midtown. They have an amazing selection of craft beers. If you are into dark beers like stouts and porters like myself I highly recommend you come here and try some of their stuff out. They also have growler refills with rotating beer options. They also let you taste all their beers before you buy one. The staff is super friendly and knowledgeable of beer. They also have specials throughout the year. Most recently they were offering a Falcons and Patriots beer pack for the Super Bowl. They also sell a ton of growlers so if you forget yours or want to buy one, you have plenty to choose from. The first place I went when we arrived in Savannah was here since we were getting pizza for dinner and what's better than pizza and beer. Unfortunately I mistakenly left my mask where we were staying and it was to close to closing time for me to walk back and get it. The server said he couldn't serve me with out a mask but was very nice and said he could help me if I waited outside so I told him what I wanted a fill of and he got it for me and brought it outside. Neat little place to grab a pint of something not found elsewhere around town. Their location also makes them a bit of an oddity. The reason to come here is to fill a growler, as there really isn't much of an atmosphere, but woman behind the bar was super friendly and informative. The shelves seemed a little sparse, so maybe I caught them on a low inventory Saturday afternoon. Perhaps if they moved a few things around and created more seating/standing space it would be more of a destination. Great name, mostly room temperature products, and a solid tap lineup. Great addition to Savannah since the only other craft beer store in the area closed. The owner is super friendly and let's you taste the beers on tap, which in most cases are really good beers. The beers on tap change regularly. You can get your own growler or buy one here to fill up with these beers. You can also creat your own variety six pack. We stopped in since I found out they fill growlers and that is a rare thing in Savannah.It's tough coming from Washington where there are over three hundred craft breweries with liquor stores offering a couple dozen crafts on tap and dozens of brands on the shelf to the state with the fewest in the US, but i digress. They only have twelve beers on tap, but they taste to be well chosen, though I am particularly fond of our west coast IPAs like those brewed by Elysian, Lazy Boy, Diamond Knot, North Sound, Boneyard, Ninkasi, Loowit, et al. and with the exception of Elysian Space Dust, are virtually non existent here. Anyway, there growlers are only $5 (glass only) but that is cheaper than anywhere else I've been to, including rural Montana. The growler fill isn't too expensive considering their location relative to the city center; $14. They have a good variety of beers on the shelf, though I didn't spend much time perusing the selection. Owners are friendly and helpful. read more

We were staying at an Airbnb nearby and stumbled upon this place walking through the neighborhood. This is a unique little shop with a few interesting things on tap. The shelves were a little empty but maybe they had a run on inventory before a busy weekend. Condescending, snippy and short are words to describe the bartender at this small bar. I took my two children inside briefly while visiting Savannah on vacation with my wife to check it out; we bought a flight of beer while my son played with the pin ball machine nicely, and my wife held our 7 month old daughter. There was one other person inside at the time other than my family and while I was picking up our flight of beer to sample, the bartender asked me to move our baby bag because it was "his point of sale"... there was no one but us and another man at the far side of the bar and it was 4:30 pm. Stay clear of this rude and non family friendly place ** to follow up on the owners response... our stroller was no where near the register, as we were near the pinball machine and not the register which is on the far side of the bar, and also there was one other person inside the entire bar. So In fact, you are disenchanted to believe that I am disingenuous. read more

We got a growler fill of the Boulevard Scotch on Scotch along with the Moon River Dixie Crystal Tripel. Jason was amazingly friendly. Really dug the whole shop vibe.
