    Seared Ahi Nachos
    Justin B.

STR8CHEFIN in Kaunakakai is doing something special, and their Chef's Special Seared Ahi Nachos are a must-try. The ahi was incredibly fresh and perfectly seared, tender, clean, and clearly high quality. The sauce tied everything together beautifully, adding just the right balance without overpowering the fish. Every bite was packed with flavor, from the seasoned chips to the thoughtful toppings. You can taste the care and creativity in this dish, it's bold, satisfying, and uniquely Molokaʻi. Easily one of those plates you'll be thinking about long after the last bite.

Poke Bowl with 2 choices. I got the sweet kimchi poke and the garlic poke. Heavenly delish!

A definite must on Molokai. Open from 1030a until they are sold out (usually around 3p ish). Friendly service. Amazingly fresh food. Wish there were tables and chairs to sit and eat :)

The Pastelle was good. I am surprised that they was no fresh fish choices, such as mahi mahi or other local catch.

Also the peppers are amazing! The portion is generous. Small space that can get crowded and was a little intimidating walking in the first time. We wish they had options for noodles like udon, or even an allergen friendly option (gluten, vegan, vegetarian). We have several friends with dietary restrictions so we were sad we couldn't recommend tajima to them. We've also ordered takeout and it's still a hit but noodles tend to stick together.

This was not on our itinerary but we noticed how packed it was when we were exploring the day before and decided to check it out the next day for dinner. Best to come before the dinner rush or be prepared to wait. We came around 5:30 PM and by the time we finished, there was a group of people waiting for a table. I believe they only take reservations for parties of 6+ We ordered the Tajima Black Ramen (Garlic), Pork Katsu Curry Rice, Toro Taku Maki, Pork Gyoza, Mango Soymilk, and Passion Yuzu Mule. Everything hit the right spot and was exactly what we needed to revive ourselves again. A fun fact we learned about their sushi rice was that it's made with Akazu which is premium red vinegar and could make it look like brown rice. I'm a huge fan of red vinegar and thought it paired nicely with the fish. I wouldn't mind coming back here again the next time we're on Maui

We ordered the Miso Butterfish, Garlic Noodles (heavily recommended), and Hapa Ramen. The cheapest cocktail was $20.50, more expensive than all but two of the noodle entrees - that didn't seem worth it so we skipped the drinks. The Ramen was pretty standard, didn't really impress or disappoint. The Butterfish was pretty good, mainly because of the miso sauce, but we did notice a table next to us got a significantly larger portion of the same dish. Finally, the Garlic Noodles - maybe I need to stop taking recommendations from this specific friend, but it was super underwhelming. It tasted like salted butter noodles with some garlic added, super salty. I love salt, but this dish just seemed like something I would eat at home when I don't feel like cooking. I guess it is what it's advertised as, I just expected more as it seemed to be an internet (and my friend's) favorite. Service was alright. We were seated right away even being 5 minutes early to our reservation, but then didn't see a server for at least 10 minutes - not a huge deal and we used the time to decide what to order. Food came out very quickly after ordering. I needed a water refill (on account of all the salt) for about 6-7 minutes before anyone even walked through our area that I could flag down. Everyone was very nice but the place seemed somewhat understaffed. TLDR: cocktails are very pricey, food was underwhelming and salty (skip the garlic noodles), and service was fast but servers were hard to find. I probably wouldn't recommend this place - especially if you can't see/don't care about the view.

I usually go for the Ramen Combo that includes a mini Ramen (or udon if you prefer) and a side of your choice. Because it's mini, it comes with green onions and a Chashu (slice of Pork) only. You can choose between Tantan, Tonkotsu, or Black Garlic Broth to name a few. I love me some Garlic but I was still working so I opted for Tonkotsu and added an egg. The seasonings are a great enhancer to pair with if you want to add some Spicy Oil, Garlic or Vinegar. The gyoza is also my go to side dish. I do love the Pork Fried Rice and also Mini Curry as well is work getting. If you like beef, the Beef Gyodon bowl is tasty with thin slices of beef and egg on top rice. Chicken Katsu Curry is good too. I always prefer Curry on side to keep that Katsu crunch. If I want a boba, I'll usually get a Honeydew (you can also get them blended) over Ice but I went for the Fresh Lemonade. They did a Honey wall inside the cup and added slices of Lemon. It had a few ice in it but I prefer light ice anyhow. Overall a comforting place for some ramen fix in Central Maui.
