I've used them for about 2 years, on and off, and unfortunately, it's hard to find good special needs therapy organizations in Los Angeles. I have Anthem Blue Cross so I've used a couple other organizations but ALP tends to have better staff compared to others, but unfortunately, they tend not to stay for whatever reason, and we're stuck with another trainer, coach every 6-8 months. Although Dr. Gina Chang is listed as the president of ALP, she doesn't have any interaction with patients. Most interactions are with staff via phone or "trainers". The current one we have, Jennifer, has been great and I hope she stays with the company but she has been our 6th one in over 2 year period.

At first they tolled me they would give me updates every 6 months and they never did.I did a grevience with my insurance company and they completly lied about everything of course they dont want to loose clients or the insurance that pays them.Even our BCBA said that the company takes more than they can handle. Parents please research before you book with ALP.

Once our LearningRx brain trainer Radwa began working with him you could see his confidence and focus levels increase! We were skeptical at first because his learning had been such a struggle. He was struggling reading even sight words in third grade and by the time he got to 4th grade we thought he might never be able to focus or read. They spent their time teaching him how to stay focused, phonemes and word parts, how to memorize and make connections, and believe in himself. His viewpoint changed from, "No, I can't." to an unbelievable, "Okay, I'll try that. It's hard but I'll try." His anxiety his gotten back under control and he's able to work when prompted. We cannot thank Leanne, Radwa, and Noha enough for their love and patience with our son! he's ACTUALLY confident, reading, and fluent in his basic math facts now!!!

After years of experience and having to move my children from school to school because of work-life…read morebalance, I feel with deep confidence this was one of the best elementary schools my children attended. Special Thanks: - Dr. Gary Gerstner and prior principal - Ms. Zachach (pardon the misspelling) - IEP staff - Speech therapist - Dolly Chatterton - Lilia (a name similar to Lily) - Parent/Community Advisory Committee - Parents in action Let me give you some context to compare amongst the other reviewers vs my review as a parent. When my children attended this school, I was a single parent, attending UCI as an engineering student, with a child in the IEP program, and having to manage my children's mother who was later found neglectful by CPS. All of this while working at Disney in customer service and born into poverty. Therefore, I had minimal chances to succeed as a parent, let alone the patience for all the possible mistakes I might encounter from being inexperienced. The Community: The people here are great and the kids are decently behaved. There might be a conflict between children every now and then but they do resolve it. The Parents In Action (PIA) cares about making a difference in the children's involvement with school activities. I've never attended a PTA meeting, sorry. The Staff: I don't like to generalize but they were awesome. I especially recall Dolly and Lilia (similar name to Lily). I put Dr Gary Gerstner and possibly the staff through some stuff with CPA getting involved, like the conflicts between the mother and I. In the end, I wish they knew it saved my children's life. Parent/Community Advisory Committee: The Advisory Committee is another level. I recommend attending if you're a parent looking for advance information regarding how to make the best of your interaction with the school system. For example, I asked what was the best way I can make the most out of the IEP meetings with advance resources. The person who answered my question was highly educated and very prepared. They taught me the steps on making a meaningful impact at each IEP meeting. IEP: The help in the beginning was profound. However, to make the changes necessary to improve as a parent for a child in the IEP, I had to be more involved. The specialists and teachers knew my limitations and made the best decisions available to them. The absolute best advice I received was from Ms. Zachach (pardon the misspelling), to make my child love reading and there is no limit to how much they should read.

He was entry level and therefore it should have been a department head doing accounting, or the principle. When handed a stack of invoices, he was told to do the accounting. My son had no idea how to go about doing the accounting. When he told the principle that, she said: Well maybe we should fire you. My son looked at her and said, no problem. I will resign. As far as I am concerned, he has a clear workman's comp case. If this is how the district operates with entry level employees, I have to wonder how they treat their students. My oldest son went to kindergarten at a Garden Grove School 35 years ago. We moved because the school was so bad. It seems the district hasn't changed.

What really stood out to me was how structured and thoughtful the program is. They don't just have kids practice writing--they actually teach the patterns behind letter formation and target the foundational skills that make writing easier. We also received a detailed progress report with real data and writing samples, which is something you rarely see in camps like this. By the end of the program, my son went from inconsistent letter formation to confidently forming all uppercase and lowercase letters, with much better spacing and overall legibility. I would absolutely recommend this camp to any parent looking to support their child's handwriting and fine motor development in a meaningful, effective way.

That's when I found TOT Handwriting. The owner, Jennell, is not only an experienced occupational therapist but also a mom of two, which made me feel even more comfortable and understood. From the beginning, Jennell was honest and thoughtful--after assessing my son, she let me know that while he didn't necessarily need handwriting classes at age 3, they could still be beneficial. And they absolutely were! He made great progress, and more importantly, he is more confident about his ability to write. We had such a positive experience that we decided to enroll him again for the summer session. Highly recommend TOT Handwriting to any parent looking for gentle, expert support in early writing skills!
