It was not an option for us, and we are SO BLESSED to get a spot at this excellent CDC (by the way, the waiting list is longer than the first grade intake... if any City Council people are reading this, you need to increase their quota or whatever it is that grants this CDC more spots for kids). The place is kept clean and tidy, and there is an assigned space for everything. Like some of the other reviewers, our son would "sulk" if we picked him up "too early". We love the fact that this CDC has so much cool stuff to captivate developing minds. He frequently would mix things learned in "school" with things learned in CDC, which tells me that the time spent after school is not just idle play or "childcare" type supervision. This review is all over the place, but I am just doing a brain dump because I feel like people who care enough to check the reviews would want as much information as possible to come to their own conclusions. Equally impressive is the obvious expertise and careful attention from the professional staff! Can you imagine the "Child Assessment" provided was SPOT ON from the 3-years' observations from his time in Montessori. And Stonegate CDC gave us the first assessment during the first month! There is regular update on how our son is progressing, and feedback not just on what he is doing, but what they are working on. We expected "after school childcare" and wanted a safe environment. We were blown away with a full on well-run program that our son simply loves and is motivated to participate in. The "clubs" from Monday through Thursday is a highlight of his week, with frequent projects and artifacts brought home and proudly shown to us. His favorites so far were cooking, origami, duct tape, track... actually too many to remember. Children are like sponges, so put them in the right environment with the right people, and you will see them bloom. If your child is attending Stonegate Elementary and has an opportunity to join Stonegate CDC, don't hesitate.

We've seen leaps and bounds in their development in motor, language, and social skills. Becky and Coral are truly one-of-a-kind caregivers/teachers. They are very professional, well trained in their craft, attentive to our Little Ones' growth/wellbeing, and treats our parental relationship as a partnership to remediate any concerns together. We get daily mid-day updates and photos which is always the highlight of my day. I know our twins are so loved and cared for here. The environment is super clean, bright and homey. This isn't a place that runs kids through a cookie-cutter program -- they took the time to truly get to know our son and built plans specifically around his strengths, his challenges, and his personality. You can tell they think carefully about striking that perfect balance between keeping him comfortable and pushing him just enough to grow. They've also been incredible partners to us as parents. They've coached us on how to reinforce his goals at home, which has made a world of difference in his day-to-day progress. When we needed help coordinating with his private school, they stepped up without us even having to push -- working directly with the administration to tailor a schedule that fit seamlessly with his school day. On top of all of that, our son received speech therapy through KidSpeak here for a couple of years, and the results speak for themselves. He graduated from the program and is now communicating like other kids his age. The speech therapy team was absolutely phenomenal and played a huge role in getting him to where he is today. My baby cried a lot at first, but Clarissa always knew how to calm her down and turn sessions into play. Over time, there was much less resistance and she became more comfortable during sessions. Now at 15 months, she's doing so much better--standing, walking, and moving confidently. She has officially graduated from PT! Clarissa answered all my questions, never rushed us, and truly cares. When we came last January for a trial day I knew that we would have substantial challenges moving into a classroom setting. Our son was diagnosed at an early age and does have severe symptoms, as well as being non verbal. But after spending the last four years with various agencies in the DTT model at home, we were ready for a change. After our intake assessment, it was clear that our son wasn't ready for a classroom setting. So instead they made the offer for us to access the clinic for ABA and push into the Academy over time. He's really blossomed in this model. He's totally acclimated to the classroom now, and will be moving into the classroom full time soon. Any complaints I've had have been met with solutions and if there was a problem they could not solve they referred me to someone who could. Mr. Sam and Karlie are great teachers, and the classroom is amazing. Music therapy is twice a week and they have clinics for OT and speech. Once a month there are Saturday camps, and Friday evening camps as well. These don't have an additional cost except for siblings and as long as you have therapy hours available. Holiday events have been so much fun! The school doesn't require verbal only like every other competitor in the area that refuses to serve any other population other than tier 1 verbal kids. So that was a huge plus for us. The program is year round. Overall we are really satisfied, and look forward to the 2019-2020 school year.

The driving and the distances to family homes often precludes a substitute if a session is cancelled last minute. (Especially in a county as huge as LA) Parents also commonly have to cancel at the last minute . What company has someone on standby to drive an hour to do a session that may not even work on the child's needs because they are not part of that case? Most parents would prefer someone they know to do these sessions , not some random other employee. What parent wants a sick therapist bringing germs into their home? I know from personal experience that Yvonne Bruinsma and her staff genuinely care about these kids. She isn't doing this to make money. She's doing it to change lives and finds her purpose in serving ,as do most of her staff.

The waiting area is not crowded at all and is super spacious. We've been seeing Brandie and absolutely love her! She genuine, really outgoing and fun with my son and always has fun games and activities prepared for him to do as soon as he comes in. My toddler also came for a short time too (he graduated) and thought it was so much fun. Most importantly, my son's speech is so much better now:) highly recommend!

The teachers that I observed had a warm, personal rapport with not just their own students, but all of the students at the school. They lost our profile and my friend's kid's profile as well. If you heard some private schools pick students based on their home address and parents' occupation. I think this daycare does the same thing. It's not a fair wait for everyone at all and I doubt they treat every kid the same.
