I usually don't give reviews on work well done, but today I need to do so. I needed a locksmith to go to my fathers house in Oro Valley to make three separate locks to be keyed the same. I don't live in Az and had to really on Yelp reviews to get through this process. I contacted Kim and had good communications with her and she did great work. She even went out of her way to put the new keys on my 86 year old fathers car fob. She also noticed the new security screen door handle would hit the stucco and sent me a picture telling me that we need to put some thing there so it will stop the door from being into it. Misplaced the key fob to my car and needed a new one. I called Story's L&K but the phone went to voicemail. I hung up but Kim called me back almost immediately. I stated my need and she was able to give me a reasonable quote for my exact make/model. It would have been twice as much from the dealership. I placed the order with her. There was a receipt sent via text to my phone shortly afterward. Later that day I found my key fob and called back. Kim, again answered and I asked to cancel the order. She looked into it and was able to issue a refund to me (they had already ordered the fob so she needed to make sure it can be reversed). Minutes later, I received another e-receipt on my phone with the refund. Even though I did not do business with Story's L&K, based on the above experience, I am confident that their service would be excellent. Honest, straight forward, and prompt response. I needed some locks to be adjusted to accept a different key. I called and spoke with Kim and penciled in a meeting for the next day. Kim arrived at our agreed upon time. She was very pleasant, very professional, and completed the job at the previously agreed upon price. The price was also far less than I expected to be charged. A bonus, in my opinion, was that she knocked out the job in just a couple minutes. I would say it took Kim maybe 10 minutes to complete the job. The take away here is that Story's checked all the boxes (punctual, efficient, cheap cost, and customer service oriented). If you ever need any lock and/or key services done, I highly recommend this company. A story about a locksmith during the lockdown.... The front door to our house was a challenge - a heavy wooden, Southwest style barrier that heaved and ho'd with the weather. It never closed smoothly, was more difficult to open, the battered iron door handle and mortise lockset could not be removed and switched out for another, There was no way to change out the key cylinder for a new one. The previous owner did not leave us with a front door key, but only a key to a back door and an ancient garage door opener that did not seem to open any garage doors within a half-mile radius. We seemed forever doomed to enter our house like burglars - either tiptoeing our way through the crap in our garage or stumbling through our dark backyard without any working exerior lights. I first called another locksmith, who said he was in the middle of doing something and would get right back with me, after I'd sent him pictures of our door. *Right back* turned out to be more than 24 hours later, and by that time I'd already made an appointment with Kim to come out that day. (The first locksmith was also $25 more expensive.) Kim came out, spent almost two hours on our door, had the mortise lock partially out of our door before realizing that the lock cannot be removed without cutting it out. So she put everything back together, but still refused to be beaten by our lock. She wanted to try one more thing - order a cylinder for the lock, which she thinks may work. For all her hard work she only asked for a pittance (maybe $25), though we gave her more for her hard work. So, in the words of the Terminator, Kim vowed that she'll "be back". That was before X'mas. Around mid-January this year, I got a call from Kim that the part had come in and she was again ready to do battle with our front door. She came out and managed to change the cylinder AND keyed the front door to match our other exterior door. We are ecstatic and have done the lock-door-unlock-door-go-through-door-repeat-happy-dance several times now. I know that many locksmiths prefer the quick and easy money of desperate, locked-out car owners and not many locksmiths would have spent the time trying to figure out how to re-key a stubborn front door. Even fewer would have the expertise to do so. Kim is dedicated, efficient, honest and reasonably-priced. Don't even bother looking at other locksmiths.You've found the best already. I relied on Yelp to find a locksmith. I entered my needs on "request quote" and that information was sent to 4 locksmiths. The first responded they were not available and that was fine. The second responded with a auto response asking for more info. No more info was needed. I gave everything in the quote request, so I am thinking they are just lazy on want to get me on the phone. He kept messaging me so I called him and as I thought, he did not read my request. He was all over the place in the conversation saying anything to get the job. I told him that I could not work like that. The fourth still has not answered. But good thing for all of the above. This allowed me to schedule with the third company, Story's Lock and Key. Story's responded with a clear quote, was able to schedule for the next day (even though it was 9pm the night before), called 30 minutes before coming, gave an unbelievable price AND was knowledgeable, professional and quick. Sorry for the slightly lengthy pre-story but I want to give a little background on how I ended up using Story's lock and key. My mom called me earlier today and said she had locked her keys in her car and didn't know who to call. She asked for my help. I'll be honest, I didn't know who the best person to call was either! So I did what any good daughter would do, I started calling anyone I could find on google. My two main concerns with each place I called was wait time and cost. I understand it is Sunday so I wasn't sure what to expect. Some places were so busy they explained they would not be able to help, some were available but hugely expensive. Luckily one gentleman I called was kind enough to suggest Story's Lock and Key as he would not be able to help my mom for at least 3 hours and she was not home so he didn't want her to wait. Not only was the technician to my mom in less than 15 minutes but the price was so incredibly reasonable. The woman I spoke to in order to schedule was very kind as well. My mom said she was very impressed by the friendly technician who came quickly and got in to the car without damaging it. I even got a follow up text from this company letting me know my mom was taken care of before my mom even had a chance to let me know.
