I chose StorPlace of Bellevue because as my business has been expanding I needed a place to keep excess storage. I started off with a 5x5 . I needed it as a place to receive incoming shipments and a place to print and place labels on items for resale on Amazon / ebay. At first StorPlace was great. They said they could receive packages and even have them placed inside my unit for me without me having to be there. That was the main reason i chose them. BUT As it turns out they automatically refused anything that arrives from the post office since the postman will not put inside the unit. I cant always control by what carrier something is mailed to me. That caused me quite a headache since I did not know a few packages were refused and returned until a few weeks later when I inquired with the sender where they were. I tried reasoning with the office manager to please receive the packages instead of refusing them. I explained that I live in Bellevue and if they could just please receive the small packages from the post office from time to time I could be there the same day to pick it up and put it in the unit myself and do my best to make sure everything is shipped to by ups or fedex.. She refused... would not even consider it.. I then spoke to the area supervisor and explained to her the situation as a small business who was now renting a 20x20 AND a 10x30 that I really needed to ensure packages were NOT being refused. She at first said NO but would speak to the owner. She got back to me and said YES that they WOULD hold any packages from USPS and NOT send the back. The office manager was NOT happy. Why? I dont know. I was now paying nearly $700.00 per month on the two units. I broke down my boxes for the trash and was professional and polite. Since there was no outlet in my unit I was told that I could plug into an outlet down the hall of the 20x20 unit and print my labels. Now that shipments were NOT being returned all was good. I would only be plugged into power outlet when I was physically there but had an idea to run power from ceiling light adapter to a power strip to run my printer so I did not have to run an extention cord every other day. Again printer and power strip were only powered on while i was there sorting and printing... this went on for 4 months or so. Until about a month ago i receive a certified termination of lease notice in the mail for both units. I had to be out of both the 20x20 and 10x30 by December 31st (merry Christmas from StorPlace) . I immediately drove down to speak with the manager and she stated that since i broke a rule (the power cord from the light was a fire hazzard) and with the potential problem with receiving packages (even though she admitted of her own that there have not been any issues ......."but there could be in the future") that they decided not to renew my lease. More like evict.. I said seriously...can i receive a warning about this power in the unit rule I knew nothing about....I promise it wont happen again. Ill go back to using the power outlet down the hall that she herself said i could use when i moved in..she said NO because how does she know i wont do it again..... Because I was telling her I would not. Thats how!
I also stated that how can she use the idea of a potential delivery issue as a secondary reason to evict me when she just admitted there has been NO issues now that they were accepting usps packages for me in the rare case that is how they were shipped??? I I called the area manager for a few days. I pleaded my case as a small business. Citing the cost, time and hassle it would be to move. This was all to no avail, her and the office managers minds were made up and i had to go even though I payed on time each month, neat and polite. Keep in mind that many other businesses use their buidings inside storage to store cars, lawnmowers, edgers, blowers all with gas and oil But it was my power cord that kept the up at night. I just finished moving last Friday and am happy I did. The office manager and supervisor of the StorPlace were of such poor character and offered such bad customer service with NO explanation or justification for their actions that i will never refer them to anyone. read more
