My wife and I installed 5 new Storm Smart windows in our condo in November, 2023. As this is our…read morevacation home, we are not there full time, usually only in Feb & March each year. Since the installation, I would estimate the windows have been opened less than 10 times total. This year, upon arrival and while trying to open the windows to clean them, I noticed that one (1) would not open evenly, and another was very difficult to open. Upon inspection, I noticed that one of the rollers on one of the windows was completely broken off, and the other could not be adjusted. I contacted Storm Smart and explained the issue completely, i.e. both windows needed new rollers. I set up a service appointment and was assured the tech could repair during the visit as they had rollers on the truck. Despite the window parts still being under warranty, I had to pay $165 to set up the service call itself. The tech arrived on time for the service call and inspected the windows, determining that the rollers indeed needed to be replaced as I indicated. However, they DO NOT have replacement rollers on the truck so they would need to get from their facility, as well as come back with another tech to replace the rollers at an additional charge of $165 each! I contacted the service number to schedule a second visit and express my frustration that the tech was not able to repair during the first visit despite the assurances that he would be able to. Nonetheless, I set up the second appointment during that call and was never told I needed to again advance pay anything. On the morning of the scheduled second appointment, I received an email regarding payment. I contacted them by phone as the invoice sent was the same invoice from the first payment that I had previously paid. The representative was quite possibly the rudest customer service rep I have ever encountered. She indicated that despite my concerns that the billed invoice was already paid, she would cancel the tech that was already on his way unless I pre-paid again. I issued payment and one tech arrived, despite him telling me this was a 2 person job. He was ultimately able to repair the rollers himself. Upon inspection, the rollers themselves are metal (I was concerned they were plastic or nylon given how fast they wore out), but the housing they attach to are plastic and the tech explained they wear out quite quickly in the Florida climate! This would have been good to know prior to the installation. I would not recommend this company for their service as well as the quality of parts incorporated into the windows. While the tech was professional, the billing representative was extremely rude, even refusing to transfer my call to her supervisor; she just kept threatening to cancel the driver already in route. It is only due to the tech himself that I give this a "2-star rating". Moreover, to spend $330 to replace warrantied parts on windows less than 3 years old is shocking.

2/5 Stars... Nor Surprised:…read more My neighbor had their windows replaced and said that the process went well. Even though the people who showed up and installed the windows on the property arrived in an unmarked beat-up truck and trailer, they had no matching clothes or insignias, and seemed to be very unprofessional by their appearance, they complete the job in a couple days. So I called to make an appointment with them to quote me on replacing a large window. I figured, they might give a discount or a reference to my neighbor since I'm calling. The guy seemed nice on the phone but wouldn't send someone out to the property unless my wife was here at the same time. I work from home, she doesn't. Her schedule is also very erratic, so I could schedule something at any future point and her chances of making that appointment are still very low. I asked how that makes a difference, and he said its policy. I said that her being at the property has nothing to do with quoting a job. I'm the one who does the work on the house and makes the decisions on remodels etc. His reply was: "I can see here on the property information that your name is not on the title of the home, and we would need the homeowner to be there" implying I have no power in the situation. The way my wife and I vest title on our several properties has nothing to do with receiving a window replacement quote. That comment blew me away with disrespect. I even questioned his response and he doubled down. repeating it again. I told him I'm not negotiating to hire them to work on my house. And I'm not making any decisions without a second quote anyway. His Reply: "That's fine, you have a right to feel that way. I'm not sending anyone out." I hung up and immediately went onto Yelp: 2/5 stars........Not Surprised.

If I could give 0 stars I would!…read more I had responded to their Facebook ad that was for $49 maintenance call for the sliding door. When I asked through the chat how much it would be for the door sticking, the response was "maybe I'll come to check it without charge." I had one tech call and ask what the problem was and then was contacted by a second tech who didn't seem to know that the first tech had already called me. The first one came about 45 minutes later and started working. Right away he asked me if I had a stepstool because he couldn't reach the top of the slider. This should be equipment that is always provided by the company, not the homeowner. I didn't have a stepstool and the best I had was my kitchen bar stool. The tech then found that the doors would be too heavy so needed to call out a second person to help him. I don't think he actually worked for their company. The first tech had asked me if I wanted a new door handle for the slider, and at first I had said no, but then thought that there would be a nice quality handle installed along with a new lock and anything else needed. He said it would be $89 with that and what needed to be done with the door. He left for about 45 minutes and then came back with the second person. He brought a very cheap handle for the slider that is chipped in several places and only needed to be attached with two screws. I looked up the handle at the Home stores and it costs is $15. I thought that with the $49 service fee, plus the handle that would make sense to be the $89. As they were working they found that they didn't have a screw that they needed and so they left for another 45 minutes. These techs should have screws and stuff needed with them when they come for the call. When they came back, they took off the doors. At no point did they ever give me an estimate, tell me what they found, what they were doing, or given the option to decide if I wanted the work done. They proceeded to replace the wheels for the track. They moved around furniture on our lanai to put the door down as they are working on things. Nothing was put under the door to protect it. They were also using the stool that he had asked to use, and was using it to hold tools. They got finished working, and at this point had been at the house from start to finish over four hours. Again, he never gave me an estimate or told me what the cost would be, so I was assuming it was the $89 he mentioned previously. He told me that it would be over $300 for the door plus the $89 for the handle. I immediately raised a concern with him that that was never communicated, and frankly, I would not have moved ahead with doing the work at that cost. He said that he could do the handle for $59. Again, this is a cheap handle, that has paint chipped on it already, and only needed two screws. That is a rip off, in and of itself. He said that if I paid him in cash or through Zelle, it would be cheaper. He said he needed to pay the other guy, so the price was justified. He agreed several times that he had made a mistake and had not communicated with me what he was doing and what the price would be. I was still under the impression that this was part of the special that was placed on Facebook and still had the comment from this chat that they would come out and check it free of charge. He ended up taking a little bit off but still having to pay over $300. So to get him out of my house I put it on my credit card. I didn't feel safe at that point. After he left, I found multiple things that concern me, and are not professional . 1. The stool that he used and put tools on now has a bunch of scratches on the top of it that were not there before. If the company knows that height can be a challenge, that should be a piece of equipment that is brought with the tech. 2. The handle that was installed already has paint chipped on it. 3. They moved all the furniture on the lanai and then afterwards did not put it back how it was. This includes chairs, the sofa, a table and two mats. They also left trash outside on my lanai. 4. The sliding door because of being put down on the concrete has scratches and roughness all over it. 5. I have two inside rugs by the slider door, and they now have dark stains all over them. If the techs knew that it would be a mess, they should have moved those out of the way. I now need to buy two new mats. I feel like I was very much taken advantage of. The only amount that he had told me the whole time was that $89. I should not be having to pay hundreds more, and be put on the spot when I didn't approve that cost. I will be following up with my credit card company and a lawyer, as the company refuses to make this right.

Only 3 ever sent estimates. Absolute sent 3 different estimates with 3 different manufacturer options. And every one of those options was VERY competitively priced! They also made it clear we could piecemeal the work (just do doors first, then windows... or just a couple windows at first, etc). They were VERY accomodating and willing to work within any financial issue that may have been cause for concern. In the end we went with all 16 windows, a 3-panel slider, a French door, and a slider being converted to French doors being replaced with hurricane glass/windows. My windows had a bit of a catch that made the contracting a bit more problematic but they rolled with it. The office staff was amazing at every step. "Responsive" doesnt even begin to cover it. When the work finally got started, we had a slider being converted to French door, and a previously installed French door that was done improperly. They knocked out the windows within a week. When they realized the installer had issues with the French doors, they sent another team out to help. They showed up at least 3 times to fix the issues from previous contractors (not from Absolute!) shoddy work and did not leave until the work was done right. They realized THEY made a slight mistake on one French door and didnt cut corners!! They removed and replaced both doors so the job was done right!! I don't recall all their names but definitely Ginger, Joyce, Shawna, Greg, and his partner as well as the other 2 from "Crew #2" that came out for the doors.. all deserve a raise for the stuff they dealt with in regards to my particular doors and windows. Ginger would have to be top of that list. She was ALWAYS communicating. I have dealt with a lot of contractors here in SWFL and can say I have NEVER come across a company that seems to treat every portion of the process, from sales to install, as if the house being worked on was their own. They were amazing and made the whole process way less stressful than it could have been. THANK YOU.
