This is an Outdoor facility so keep that in mind.Many of my dads stuff has been damaged due to mice. One box had rat droppings in it. He built a train set and that was destroyed by mice. I actually found a dead mouse in his stuff! Gross! Also, they don't allow you to use the dumpster, it's locked. My dad called and spoke to them about the damage from the mice, they let us use it, but they were not kind about it. I reserved a unit by phone. I drove to the location around 1:30 to complete the paperwork. Office closed, sign on the door said they were out to lunch and would return at 2:30. I left to run other errands, returning at approx. 5:15, allowing myself plenty of time to complete the paperwork and unload my car . As I was entering the parking lot, a car sped in front of me to zip into a parking spot, almost hitting me. Once again, office closed, sign on the door said will return at 4:30. I spoke to another waiting customer who said she had been waiting since 4:00 for them to return. Then the driver who almost hit me spoke up and said she was the employee working there and her 'errand' at the other office took longer than expected. Furthermore, she left her keys at the other office and had to leave to get them. It would take 2 minutes. 15 minutes later she returns. She helped the customer who had been waiting since 4:00 and by the time she was ready to help me it was 5:55. Since the facility gate closes at 6pm, and there would be no access to my unit, I told her I wanted to complete the paperwork and place and place my lock on the unit but didn't think it was fair to start paying for today since I there wasn't enough time left to even unload my car before the place closed. Keep in mind I hadn't complained once about her wasting well over an hour of my time. She informed me I had to pay for today if I wanted to place my lock on the unit. My other choice was to return at noon tomorrow when they opened and complete the paperwork. She would then allow me access to the unit. Since I had friends coming in the morning to help me, that didn't work for me. I explained that I came twice today during their operating hours and the office was closed. It was her fault that she had been out a lot of the afternoon during their open hours, so that I couldn't do it earlier. I told her I couldn't wait until noon to begin to move my items. She informed me that it was her job to drive to the other location to help the other employees when they needed it. In other words, this would not be an isolated event, but a recurring theme of finding the office closed during their open hours.And apparently it is the company policy to not be concerned about their customer's time. Bottom line, she insisted I would have to pay for the day even though I couldn't access the unit or I would have to wait until noon to begin to complete the paperwork and gain access. If this is how they treat a customer who is trying to rent a unit, how much worse is the treatment once you do rent a unit. I went online and found a less expensive unit at a nearby storage facility. Their management lives onsite, and their gate hours are much longer. In addition, they gave me 60% off the first month and they provide a lock for the unit. To sum up, I do not recommend Stor' em Self Storage! read more

My wife and I rented a space at the Vista Store'em Self Storage facility in Vista a few months ago to park our Teardrop camper. The space was just OK since we would need to back in the camper and being novices at this, we took it with some hesitation. We added our name to a list for a better space that would allow us to pull through and drop the camper. I thought we will never here from them again for a space upgrade. Low and behold, Melinda in the office contacted us a few months after signing up and said she had the perfect space. We took a look and it was indeed perfect for parking the camper. We ended up doing the 14 months for 12 month prepayment plan so the increase in price was negligible. Hats off to Melinda for keeping us on her radar screen for a better space. read more

He took us in the golf cart to view the units, gave us pricing, and answered any questions we had. The facility seems well maintained and we loved the option of the drive up units. Do yourself a favor never store a boat or car here. Have not been to storage for a couple of months I pull up to get my boat out of storage only to find that hadn't been backed into and damaged. I got no call no letter letting me know that this happened I go to the office to ask about the accident and he laughs and says oh yeah that happened like 2 weeks ago. I asked the manager for some of the video to see if I can find out who did it or what happened and her reply was sorry I can't give that out without a court order due to client privacy. read more

they close at 5:45. So for a lot of us you can't access your stuff on a work day. After 5:45 you will not be let in by your access code. If it's before six and you are lucky an employee might let you in but you have to go into the office and ask. they leave at 6. Other than that the place is good. I would give 5 stars if they had better hours. read more

This place doesn't even deserve one star. I had been moving all day and arrived at 2:30pm. I had a reservation and the punk would not let us in (I was with the moving truck) because he was on his lunch hour. This is a really crappy way to treat customers with reservations. He couldn't take time to check us in and give us the deal they promised us. this little punk is going to make this storage lose business! read more

I've been coming to this place for almost four years and every time I come in to SD Storage the employees are courteous and helpful. They have reasonable prices and their facility is very clean. recently I upgraded to a bigger storage unit and they made the transition very easy and were super helpful having me pick out a storage that was the right size for me. So if you live in North County and need a place to store some stuff, I would check out these guys because their prices are pretty reasonable and they are super nice! read more

The sign of a good business is how they handle mistakes and the kind of people they hire. I had reserved a 10x15 storage unit at SD Storage in Vista by phone, and was incorrectly quoted the discount price of a 10x10 unit. When I arrived, Fernando was working the office and presented me with the correct price for a 10x15 unit...the price difference from what I was quoted on the phone caught me off guard and I began to get angry at the mixup. Fernando quickly assured me that he would make things right and after a few calls to management and sincere apologies, he did. He was extremely professional and courteous in the face of a difficult customer service situation, and I would hire him in a minute for my own business. read more
