Subject: Call for Testimonials - Public Storage Mice Infestation & Negligence…read more If you have been impacted by mice infestation, price gouging, or other misconduct at this Public Storage facility, a group of us are working with the NYC Council and the Department of Consumer and Worker Protections to hold the company accountable. We are collecting stories, testimonials, and experiences to document the scale of their negligence. Please send details to: miceinfestationps@gmail.com . Key Points: We have heard that dozens of tenants were forced to move out--some were reimbursed, others were not. Public Storage offered me only a $25 credit despite the thousands of dollars in damage caused by a urine-saturated, mouse-infested unit. The company failed to notify tenants in a timely manner, despite knowing our unit was considered a "hotspot." Mice carry Hantavirus, a dangerous pathogen. Please wear gloves and masks when handling belongings. It was heartbreaking to see families carrying in cribs and baby clothing, unaware of the risk. This facility has over 1,000 units and is part of one of the largest storage companies in the country. Their negligence cannot go unchecked. What You Can Do: Email your experience to us at miceinfestationps@gmail.com . File a complaint with 311. File a complaint with NYC Department of Consumer and Worker Protections. There should be compensation for your losses, not long laborious insurance forms File a small claim against Public Storage if you've had to cover moving or cleaning costs--this is straightforward and often effective. Spread awareness: Do not store items at this facility until the infestation is properly addressed. Together, we can build enough momentum for City Council and regulatory agencies to investigate and enforce stronger accountability for this company and the industry at large.

Terrible experience with CubeSmart. Their online system cancelled my reservation with no written…read morenotice and then refused to honor the original $ rate. On 5/6 I reserved a 10x15 unit online at this location for $277.80/mo with a 5/21 move-in date. When I clicked into the SmartRental flow in the confirmation email, CubeSmart's system changed my move-in date to 5/7 with no written notice. Then the store cancelled my reservation after I missed a few phone calls which my phone flagged as potential spam - no attempt to reach me by text or email. I only found out the reservation had been cancelled a couple weeks later when I tried to complete it and couldn't. The store and district manager refused to honor the rate that I'd reserved, leading me to rent at $398.50 (43% more), since I had movers in 5 days. Their online FAQ specifically says "you can start your rental anytime between now and your move-in date with SmartRental", but nope, apparently doing so led to my reservation being cancelled! Then I showed up at the store and the unit was way smaller than advertised: 8x14.5 instead of 10x15, even narrower than 8' at some points. I cancelled and took my business elsewhere, having to scramble with my moving company arriving in just a few days. Cesar the store rep was helpful throughout the whole thing. Not his fault, just deceptive business practices by CubeSmart!

They went above and beyond make sure that I was happy and that things were easy. The facility is safe and easy to navigate. On top of that, I have access to a van for the first month to continue moving more of my belongings to the facility without a hassle or having to rush. Everyone there is friendly and willing to help they even called the movers on an internal line when I couldn't get in touch and charged my phone when it died so I could call uber. Thank you CubeSmart for making everything so easy.

The Assistant Manager, Joesph Wyatt was professional and efficient with his service. It was a breath of fresh air working with him and receiving such fantastic customer service. I suggest going on their website www.safeguardit.com before hand as it makes the process a lot faster. In addition to the personnel there, they have a full state of the art cool/heat control facility. The place felt well kept and incredibly secure. Not sketchy in the least like some of these other storage units in the area can be at times.

DON'T WASTE YOUR MONEY…read more Pretty sure they are faking most of their positive reviews (on Google) -- lots of reviews that don't have any other activity, accounts that seem to have other activity but when you click on their history seem clearly paid since they only have positive reviews for multiple Safeguard locations, content is too similar, etc. It seems like maybe there used to be good staff, but I guess they've all left. Woman at the front desk is one of the rudest people I've ever met. She's pretends to be nice until you sign that contract. We've been responsible, reliable, respectful customers for a few months now -- paying thousands of dollars. And we've never expected much -- but now it just feels like we paying to endure her drama. She is usually sitting at the front desk looking miserable or on her phone ignoring you, and if you dare to try and speak to her, she will act like you're the stupidest person alive. In the last few days, things have gotten even more absurd. She seems to be having some type of meltdown, as she screamed at me the other day, and again today, completely unprovoked. This isn't even including all the other issues we've had over the pass few months: they're supposed to open at 9am (Mon-Sat), multiple times I've shown up and had to wait over an hour for her while she lazily strolls in whenever she feels like without apology or hurry, usually 10am or later. Spills on the floor are a frequent tripping hazard. I've seen rats and other pests. They don't always seem to keep it climate controlled. It looks like there is mold issue inside as well. We've already tried to raise concerns with management, they didn't seem motivated to do much of anything. After talking to other customers (and finding the real reviews, not the fakes they've posted), it seems these have been ongoing issues for a long time, and they have NO INTENTION OF IMPROVING. We will be closing our account with this business within the next few days. TL;DR Don't go. Save your money, and your precious time and energy. Their competitors are right across the street and seem lovely.

tl;dr Dispatch was great, crew was horrible…read more I want to be fair. Dispatch was professional, helpful, and the price was reasonable, especially for short notice. I wasn't pushed to give more of a tip, although I did tip more than recommended. I was initially really satisfied, but have since discovered they deliberately damaged a 6-level stacked metal card cabinet. When I included it in the inventory, I wasn't aware there were still items in the drawers. Our move was extremely chaotic, and the moving service that we used prior, checked all drawers to make sure they were empty, before moving items. People make mistakes, especially in stressful circumstances. Nonetheless, I accept that the responsibility of checking was still ultimately mine. However, if I had been made aware there were still items inside, I would have apologized, and either offered to pay more, or moved the drawers myself. After arriving at the new location, my son heard clinking sounds, as one of the movers walked past him smirking, while shaking and swinging the drawers, one in each hand. He then threw the drawers on their sides, onto one of my metal bookcases, which was apparently repeated for all 6 stacks. Between the throwing and shaking, the outer surfaces of the drawers and top of the bookcase were scratched and scuffed. The individual drawers were so badly dented that I had trouble putting several back in once removed, to retrieve the items that had been flung into the very back, past the drawers. They could have refused to take the cabinet, like they did with several boxes I had pointed out at the beginning of the move as needing to be prioritized. I had to beg and offer them more money to get those boxes onto the truck, because they said they'd already taken enough items. It wasn't until they called dispatch that they were told I had preemptively paid more the day before, because I didn't want to risk undercounting the boxes and other items. Dispatch said I didn't owe anything more, and told them to take the boxes. I was trying to understand why this crew didn't simply decline to move the cabinet, like with the boxes. They would have been well within their rights, because it violated their company's policy. Given the smirking and throwing, the only conclusion I can make is that this crew found messing with customers and damaging their items, fun.
